Who ever filmed this guy and uploaded it saying how he is a "bad lineman are picks" they made it as hard as possible for him. Why the fuck aren't they using a handling? Like come on.
Take that bucksqueeze shit off and throw it away. If that dude can't go 10ft without struggling with that tiny little wire, he'd never be able to be a telephone lineman.
Rus bu that's funny little miss sunshine. We don't deal with heights (or high voltages) like power guys. And I'm glad. But the weights and tensions we deal with don't give a damn what height your hooks are. I guess now you're gonna try to tell me phone cable is light.
He's not even using a bucksqueeze. He's just hitch hiking up. I'm a telephone lineman and I use a bucksqueeze. You can climb very fast with one if you're good at it.
Working out in the state you routinely climb 40-50 footers even for the telco.
Your not a lineman your a technition. You do not work with high amps or volts. One wrong move will not burn you, blow a limb off or kill you in the blink of an eye. I have to climb past all of your shit just to get to my neutral wire. So don't try to compare watermelons to grapes.
Forman my ass. Handline😡
This is painful to watch. A more proper way would be to bring a handline rope (dielectric, if needed) with block up the pole and and have his ground guy hoist the wire up to him. Climbing with that on his belt is a bad idea for many reasons. I'm 1:26 into this and gritting my teeth.
we all learn the hard way give him a chance
There is no way he is a qualified lineman, no way.
He's probably an apprentice. Shit happens more than you think.
Apprentice that didnt go to line school.. People rag on me for going but i tell you what i can climb
He’s definitely not qualified. School or no school don’t watch your feet because they will follow you!
@@danfromga3002 I went to line school too. Paid for by the Philadelphia Electric Co. (PECO). I don't know if they even have them anymore. 6 weeks of climbing, building lines at different heights and a little theory. Make it out of that and then a 4 1/2 yr apprenticeship. Been watching some of those videos from those lineman "colleges" lately. Not cheap. Did it pay off or can you just say "hey, I can climb". I hope it did pay off for ya. One question. Does that "college" train you for your CDL A. That seems more important to get in a utility than being able to climb a 90ft pole in 2min. For the money I feel they definitely should. Would help young cats immensely to get their foot in the door. If they don't, shame on em.
Good god, get this guy out of our trade
You never put anything on or in your D rings, only the snaps for your safety
Maybe he was sick, or drunk, or just lack of balls...
That's The hardest way to hoist a line I have been working on and the easiest way was to climb the pole and put the block and pulled from the ground. Psssst hey bro find your nearest buckingham linemen tools dealer. Tools make it easier . Blessings from Honduras
One Question and one statement. What Utility is this? And you never ever let an Apprentice climb back down.
Why
@@ryaniss3xy At least to go up with you. Make the climb with the guy. Don't know if they had that cat do that that way just to mess with him or what. I NEVER in over 34yrs of linework taken a span of wire over my belt from the ground up. Guess they didn't have any rope on the truck.
Don't think you'd see any IBEW stickers on their trucks.
That was about 20 years ago,we dont climb here in Finland anymore,we have big tractors with excellent cranes !!!
mannhaftigkeit even with bucket trucks or crane tractors, you have to climb sometimes. I'm not a lineman and I know this. Plus, the video quality is too good for this to be 20 years old
Looks like his belt is too snug...
hand line and a good grunt.
And another thing.... when you climb up underneath a guy...you dont belt off over his feet...you ask HIM to step down over your safety...geez.
give him a break
What kind of Ringling Bros bullshit is this, send the man up with a handline!
I revisited this video. No fucking hand line, the kid hasn’t been properly trained to climb. The guy in the camera can’t even breathe and he’s making fun of the kid. Hang the wire at the dead end poles, run BOTH PRIMARY & NUETRAL. Frame as go but pull to sag before you do middle poles, climb once tie in, go home. Use a fucking hand line!
Rule #1--- don't become the resistor or ground.
No handlines in Canada eh?
Poor assessment by the supervisor. Simple handline will do.
this is even better... If you can't bucket --------------- f@#+ it!!😂
Looks like someone made somebody mad teach him a lesson
