Truth is, people hide things very well and then snaps at any moment....leaving family and friends with so much pain and grief...making them think they could have done something. May family and friends find comfort in each other, strength through this pain and peace in the days ahead.🙏🙏

I was bred born and raised in hawaii (born Maui raised oahu) i have been telling myself ALOT lately with each pop up from HNN with the title says “HPD investigating a murder or attempted murder” it seems like i see these every other couple days now! What is going on my people??!! What is happening ALL OVER THE WORLD! It NEVER used to happen here, i always felt the safest here in Hawaii! Not anymore! Life has become so unbearably stressful for all BUT murdering your family is NEVER the answer to it! Please please please seek out help from anywhere and anyone! Please stop doing these things! With reports I am reading on news, there is a possibility when COVID hit the islands, a LOT of businesses took a tragic toll.....from NO SALES/Profit, to SHUTTING DOWN. and it takes a long time to recover and recoup the losses.....notice the food and products prices going high? Since he dealt with physically assisting the patient, he was probably FORCED to halt practice. Knowing his financial hardship, unfortunately he did the unthinkable...unemaginable.....and slaughtered his family and himself.
he had a previous lawsuit and bills up the creek! compounded that he had 3 kids to raise and the oldest daugter was enrolled in Iolani....as well as the other kids. With his wife as a home mom, he could not handle the stress and pressure anymore. And as japanese call this crime "shame to the family history", instead of LIP, he took his own after the murders.

I was their carpenter and I knew them well being around while everyone goes through their daily routine. They were happy, smiling easy going family. I am having trouble believing this happened. I cannot accept he did this.

Oh dear Lord. We will never know what drives a person especially a father and husband to violently kill his own family. We should not place anger or judgment towards him only prayers. He was obviously suffering in silence more than anyone will know.
As for his family it’s unfathomable to think of the horror that they experienced before they passed. To see their own father and husband become “possessed” to do such …. Well I don’t want to imagine anymore. I’m crying 😢 out for them. The father included.
This could and does happen everywhere in the world. We in Hawaii think we’re immune being the laidback people we are. While such crimes do happen less here we’re certainly not immune.
We do need to show our Ohana even more in light of this tragedy and the other recent violence happening in our aina.
The spirits of this family are crying out for help. The spirits of our ancestors are crying out for more aloha. Take the time to hug your kids a little longer than usual. Bring some food to the single parents in your community. Offer to help that lonely kupuna you know. Throw out a Shaka 🤙 when someone lets you into the traffic lane. We can pull through this together ❤

This is similar story in our town, the father also killed his own wife and 2 kids, he got depressed because of huge amount of credit. Theres also a mother of 4 killed her own kids due to postpartum depression. RIP to the family, a really sad story

2018 I spent a good amount of time making that home what they needed. I did what you see in photo and they had the routine smooth with the kids. Always happy. This is just not happening
I was in this man's office just two months ago. I had a very uneasy feeling and knew that something was strange and wanted out of there. He kept trying to have me make more appointmeit's but there's no way I'd ever come back to this guy.
What you witnessed was a financially desperate man. Perhaps he couldn't recover after the Covid lock downs.

Having kids and or home ownership is becoming unaffordable, unattainable and unsustainable. Plus, people live way beyond their means now. Private schools, big homes, fancy cars, vacations, going out to eat every day, housekeepers, etc. Most ordinary people can't sustain this type of spending.

The police were there, it’s sad that they left the first time, because they could have done something to prevent this, but hindsight is 20/20. No judgment, it’s just tragic and we can’t blame the police. Domestic violence is real, and many suffer in silence until it’s too late. Women and children are dying because of it. We need to take it more seriously, and support victims and their children.

I grew up in Manoa. With the way how high prices are on bills to mortages and the high cost of living in Honolulu maybe he was upset with money situation. Manoa in probably the safest area in Honolulu. But the motive to murder your family could be something more personal. Who knows. My prayers go out to the Oda family

He killed the younger ones first and make his way to the oldest. His wife and eldest daughter are probably his two last victims before he took his own life.

Starting at 2:12... Its interesting how this neighbor is smiling big while saying , " Tragic ". I noticed a lot of people outside this home smiling even on Sunday.. I know everyone in situations like these like to say " everyone grieves differently" , but i as of yet to see one person who actually looks grief stricken.
Yah it's kinda weird. Maybe because it's not their family and they really didn't know them that well. Just neighbors down the street.
Idk but I'd like to think that's just his way of speaking and his expressions.. I'm sure if they interviewed immediate family.. they would likely be in a "more" shocked state and would have elicited the kind of reaction you're expecting. .. but these are just neighbors. For me, when my grandma died I did not cry at her funeral nor had any huge emotions. It hit me 3 weeks later when I found myself bawling. It's different for everyone.

Wonder if the confidentiality factor of domestic violence centers will remain "can not confirm or deny". Did he move away from Kaua'i because he had his secrets and ohana/friends were too close by. So he moved on with the ohana to Oahu. maybe mom was planning to move on with the children and the perpetrator was not going to hear of it. What does not make sense is ... HOW can one use a knife to kill each person (verses a gun) that takes time to do so ... without at least one of them running away to get help???? ... without them screaming for help??? Seems like a massive coverup to me.
I still don’t want to believe that the father killed his entire family. I wish the authorities will still conduct a thorough investigation. The man who allowed to be interviewed with concealed face is kind of very suspicious, especially when he commented about how Paris didn’t look at him in the eye, which apparently, made him feel suspicious of the head of the family. When everybody says that they still couldn’t believe if the father had done the terrible crime and some asked not to judge because we don’t know what this family went through, this man is very strong in his insinuation that “he knows that something is wrong with Paris cos he can’t look at him in the eye”. Authorities, please conduct an investigation to this man!!! Try to safeguard the crime scene and thoroughly search the house for DNAs that are foreign to the family.
Likely financial trouble with the husband. Usually when the man of the house accrue multiple debts that can't be pay back, then the last thing to do was to throw it all away and the only way out is for him and his family to be gone. That way if they're all gone the debt won't fall to any one in the family cause he knew if only he was gone the debt will then fall on his wife or daughter's shoulders instead and he couldn't let that happen.

@@anonymous-zn2iv well, it's happening in Idaho now. 4 college kids at the University of Idaho were stabbed to death just like this and the guy they caught wasn't seen by anyone and none of the victims DNA was on him, or in his house or car or anywhere and yet they said he's the one that did it.

It's possible but the entire family was likely born in Hawaii no? Which means they have very little or no connection to Japan and likely couldn't even speak the language. I get you though, because when I lived in Japan, I personally know several foreigners who married Japanese women and the mother simply vanished with the kids without a trace shortly after they had them leaving the husband devastated.
