You got me right out of the gate with this one. I loled at "we all went home for a year and a half and didn't do anything then, all of a sudden... Server meshing". 😂
This is really needed. Last night friends and I played for the first time in a long time to try the new mission save Stanton. After 5 hours of crashes and disconnects and glitches, 3 of the four of us completed the one mission. Our conclusion, still needs tons of cooking. It was in almost a worse state than a year ago. I was really hoping that being on this '?9 month?' branch would have preformed better. Issues: logging on Elevators Trains Inventory Cargo Elevator Very delayed inputs Falling through planets Disconnects and crashes Bugged controles It was just a mess. I can't blame my friend who gave up after the first few hours spent simply trying to get geared up and onto the same ship.
Does you dev team use unit tests? Why was the interaction server ever single threaded, Isn't this a multiplayer game? Why is this being discussed in 2024? Why could this not be simulated during interal testing?
Please more videos like this, explain to the players the the goal, the thought process, and most importantly the issues you run into. It goes a long way in helping people understand the goings on.
Fantastic to see the network team explaining the problems that I ACTUALLY have in game. Getting repeatedly told that it's my hardware or a skill issue by deluded players was making me feel like I was missing out. Some of the community navigate the game by gas light apparently. Glad to know I'm not going mad and still excited to see where this all goes.
As a software dev that has worked on a lot of compression, transport, and messaging optimizations in the past, I really enjoyed this one. Thanks, CIG devs!
I work as a computer engineer in my day job and they are talking about using the same concepts in a software model, that I use to build high performance processors. Kinda neat.
I hardly take time to comment, but this ISC topic is simply amazing. This is the stuff I know I want to see and a large base of the people who currently are invested in this project. We love the back end!
100% concur. This is what I want to see with this look behind the curtain at development. Problems and road blocks Devs have run into, and how they have resolved/overcome those problems and look at the path ahead. This I feel might just be the best ISC of the year.
I'm a little disappointed that you only thanked the streamers by name for 'contributing' to Evocati, while what most of them really do is securing extra income on RUclips by getting prime access to what used to be builds under NDA. You could at least have mentioned the top contributors from the Evocati group, because they do fabulous work in documenting and reporting bugs for Cloud Imperium Games. I have utmost respect for some, considering how seriously they have taken up this task all there years.
THIS!!! THIS IS EXACTLY what the community wants...... don't sugar coat it..... we want to know what's wrong and why..... cause if you tell us everything is great and then we can't even get out of the bed.... people gona loose trust.... but if you tell us what's wrong any what steps are you taking to trubbleshoot it.... people will be a lot more HYPED
I've been saying this for years: This is not COD or GTA; it's far more complex and truly fascinating! While it's not perfect or complete, this beast needs time. There's nothing out there even comparable to SC!
Benoit is just amazing the dev we all need. He has now answered the question and proved it on some of the most annoying bugs we all know. Interaction delays, hangars not opening, ATC hating us :D I suspected 4.0 would solve this majorly. I was right so happy to see the details of all this. And it made sense why need more players. Bots just cannot do what 200+ players will get we're an unpredictable species. If I am understanding this right, they could just turn on a ton of hybrids and it would solve a majority of the issues? But they are not doing this obviously because it's not cost effective and the data they are gathering is to try and get the highest possible player count with a single hybrid so that all hybrids are miles more effective which in turn allows for much higher player counts?
I've had a good time the last 3 days. Snappy response times on doors, elevators and terminals. Very little desync either. Like most players I'm quick to criticise but to be fair I'd like to give credit where it's due. Well done CIG. It's definitely been much better lately.

Beautiful. I wish I was Avocado, would love to be part of testing. This is all just so dang beautiful and I LOVE the tech behind all this. Thanks for the Episode, teams!
Lol i didn’t expect to hear Terada 🤣
I don't understand why CIG puts him forward so much, he makes money by insulting CIG & SC, talking badly about the community, crying and report anyone who kills him in game, he's a real pain on the Advocacy channels where he imposes his opinions and talks badly to everyone.
@@windamme probably because him insulting CIG couldn’t possibly be further than the truth. He f*cking loves this game. I’d be 10x more rough with it than he would ever be.
Issues: logging on
Elevators
Trains
Inventory
Cargo Elevator
Very delayed inputs
Falling through planets
Disconnects and crashes
Bugged controles
It was just a mess. I can't blame my friend who gave up after the first few hours spent simply trying to get geared up and onto the same ship.
LET'S. GO!!!!! 4.0 is right around the corner!!!!
They showed us the worts and all. Bravo. We appreciate honesty.
Whooo!!
Hope to see 4.0 in more waves soon with server meshing taking place! :D
Boy I sure hope you don't run out of funding before you are able to fix these issues.
The whales will keep it going. they'll buy anything.
@@Crazy-Chicken-Media They're too stupid to do anything else
We don't always get the heroes we deserve. Sometimes we do. Thanks for making it better everyone!
Knowing more cant hurt, right?
Does you dev team use unit tests? Why was the interaction server ever single threaded, Isn't this a multiplayer game? Why is this being discussed in 2024? Why could this not be simulated during interal testing?
I liked it when Chris Roberts went on stage and said, "It's server meshing time," and meshed all over the place .
Thanks for the amazing work and the experience you have brought to us so far CIG! You are all amazing!
Shout out to the man!
Experience?
Congrats on getting featured in ISC man, that must be a pretty cool feeling! Well deserved
Been following you since your original 600i review. You've come a long way in such a short time. Well done, keep it coming, and godspeed!
Was really cool hearing you on the clips!
Star Citizen is amazing, I look forward to everything coming!
Rule 1 of queue theory: reduce depth, increase width 😅 But fr, I nerded out all the way through this ISC
This is fantastic. I am equally as bought in on this as I am the game itself! Keep it up fellas
😂 good one
You are not wrong, but I think was more of credit for having used their content in this vid.
Big SC/cloud imperium critic here. Great work on this episode, this is how you communicate. Great great great episode
I've been saying this for years: This is not COD or GTA; it's far more complex and truly fascinating! While it's not perfect or complete, this beast needs time. There's nothing out there even comparable to SC!
I love it when you guys dive into the technical issues. This is what ISC should focus on, much as we like ships and events.
Pretty cool to have all those creators featured in ISC
Benoit is just amazing the dev we all need. He has now answered the question and proved it on some of the most annoying bugs we all know. Interaction delays, hangars not opening, ATC hating us :D
I suspected 4.0 would solve this majorly.
This is *exactly* the kind of ISC I actually want to see. *show me* the tech I want to hear about the tech I don’t care about ships I don’t care about hair physics I don’t care about armor types I don’t care about anything but core tech and career path content.
Great detail! We will watch anything with Benoit in it though.❤
Thank you for this excellent video, I hope the future ones will be with this level of transparency.
By far my favourite ISC episode thusfar. Exactly the kind of stuff I love to see: what you're trying, how it's going, and how you've fixed it. Excellent job.
This. Thank you so much! This is what I pledged for. Anyone else?
so basically they admit to have nothing working properly. ok, finally some honesty.
It's pretty pathetic that you have nothing but a sad hate obsession forever
