Purpose of buddhism is to attain nirwana. Attain enlightenment
The purpose of Buddhism is to seek enlightenment, but yet also share happiness and compassion with others. We buddhists want all living beings to be free from suffering and have a happy and free life. That in my opinion is the purpose off Buddhism.

Being a Buddhist I have been taught by my parents, at schools by my teachers to always think about others before self and also to put myself in other's shoe before I do anything wrong to them, "what if that happens to me" also to pray for the enlightenment of all the sentient beings. That's why we include everybody when we pray.
You shouldn't put yourself in other's shoe.It an injustice for yourself.

Purpose-
To attained (nibbana) . In simple terms to stop birth, sad and death by removing the causes for the same showed as likeness to things, hate and unawareness of bad.
Buddhism is a religious which is an educational system. One keeps learning to improve the inner self to rid of greed(pulling in), anger (pushing away) and delusion(not knowing accepting the reality) and not to cling on to them tightly. The goal is to achieve an enlightenment. The practice is to accept the 5 precepts and follow the eight-fold paths. The explanation can be found in the Podhipakiyatham 37, the collection of 37 dhammas leading to the enlightenment.
Woody spaceexplorer .yes, your are right. To end rebirth in this suffering world, so you can achieve Nirvana, the highest heavenly realm, above the Godly realms. Godly realms are still in the rebirth cycle.

Buddhism is neither a monotheistic nor a polytheistic religion. It is a philosophy preached by Gautama Buddha from India and rather a life style based on that philosophy. The main focus of Buddhism is the development, strengthening and blossoming of mind. Buddha’s teachings advise us that MIND IS THE FORE RUNNER OF EVERYTHING AND ONLY ONE THING YOU CAN FULLY CONTOL IN THIS WORLD IS YOUR OWN MINDSET. Is not it the absolute truth? Is not that every action and word is first conceived as a thought? Moreover, can we even sustain the well being of our body in the exact way we desire for? NO. Hence Buddhism teaches us to enrich and bloom our mindset in such a way that YOU AQUIRE A HEALTHY, UNSHAKEN MINDSET AMIDST ALL THE TURBULENCES IN THE SURROUNDING WORLD…THE ULTIMATE HAPPINESS …This is achieved , first and foremost (1) good/positive thoughts and subsequently (2) good/positive words and actions. There are numerous steps and techniques taught in Buddhism to achieve this level. Buddhism is a religion that teaches people to live a compassionate life with no causing harm to sentient beings..
Many people are so confused and thought Buddhism is just a philosophy and not a religion That is not true. Buddhism has a spiritual dimension, because Guatama Buddha is a high spiritual heavenly being.
Guatama Buddha before he was reborn as a human, he was a Bodhisattva in Nirvana. Looking down on earth, he saw the earthly sufferings. So he voluntarily reborn to earth to save sentient beings.
He promised that if people will follow his teachings earnestly, we will be able to end rebirth in this suffering world, and we will be able to achieve enlightenment and go to Nirvana, the highest heavenly realm. We do not need to depend on Gods, because the Godly realms are still in the rebirth cycle.
I am a chinese Buddhist that came from Taoism, , an ancient China religion, that are able to communicate with the Godly realms, through human mediums. These Godly beings have great powers to cure illness or to rid evil spirits from people.
What I have just said are answers from these Godly beings. Even Godly beings are striving to be come Buddhas.
Guatama Buddha is known as teacher of the world. He is just one of the Buddhas. In Nirvana there are millions of Buddhas, their powers are limitless.
I am a Singaporean Chinese Buddhist, and I pray to Buddha Averlokitesvara and Gutama Buddha. Through my course as a Buddhist, I have had several spiritual encounters with Buddhas.
Also there are people saying thst Buddhist worship idols. The statues of Buddhas must be given a " ceremonial Buddha Spirit entry initiation" before we pray. So those statues of Buddhas in temples are not empty. They are all with Buddha Spirits.
Hope I am able to help to dissolve all the misunderstandings on Buddhism.

There is nothing exactly like Buddhism. It is simply following the teachings of Tatha Gatha. His teachings usually try to cultivate our mind which is the ultimate aim of Human existence via rationale, scientific temperament, detachment, no preconceived notions.
The main purpose of the buddhism is nirvana.its simply means stoping the cycle of rebirth.
THE PURPOSE OF BHUDDHISM IS TO ACHIEVE NIRVANA.(FREE FROM SUFFERING)

What I see is that the only notion most people have about religion is worship gods and do their will, avoiding their wrath. Ask(to bargain) things to they. And hope not to be sent to a place of eternal suffering instead of heaven or something.
