Prescription drugs in the U.S. are really expensive because the companies that make these medicines are GREEDY and can set high prices and there aren't as many rules to limit how much they can charge. Also, unlike some other countries, the U.S. government doesn't negotiate these prices to make them lower. This video It's quite an eye-opener though, especially with the USA being known as 'the land of the free.' The difference in healthcare compared to many other countries is both surprising and a bit amusing to me 😂😂😂

The problem isn't that they're not regulated in price setting. The problem is they don't have to tell us how much everything costs up front so we can shop around and make purchase decisions based on the best value. They don't have to compete for our business. Even companies like communications companies who all agree to keep their prices within certain ranges have to tell us what the price is and let us decide. With medicine and healthcare in general there's none of that. Most of the people telling you what you have to buy (drs and nurses) have no idea what it costs

I remember going to universiry here in Russia and we had a transfer student from US. She had asthma and her inhaler was spent, so she was paniking about getting a russian perscription... It took as about an hour to explain to her that all she had to was to go to a local pharmacy and buy the damn thing, no perscription needed. It took us about another hour to explain to her that about 39 dollars in equivalence was absolutely a normal price and she was not buying a knock-off. I swear, US healthcare system has to be the most inefficient system in the world.

The most retarded system self aware that it lets tons of people die, but who cares, just hold my money bag. People die everyday even on the most developed countries because of poor health care, no good doctors, too few hospitals, or not enough research, etc. In US people die because F*ck you, pay me. I genuine consider US a 3rd world country and worse than African underdeveloped countries just because everyone tries to kill everyone like monkeys for worthless green paper. Tech, land and other stuff is irelevant when everyone acts like a monkey under the pretext of capitalism and free market, free everything. It's a caveman mentality on a era of tech.

The problem with free healthcare is if you need a CT scan it may take months while in the US You can get a CT scan the very same day if you pay. In Canada there is free healthcare but it takes about 3months to get a CT scan. The problem is that we don’t have free healthcare The problem is that there is no control over pricing. We’ve allowed pharmaceutical companies to become too powerful. Healthcare is a complex topic, but the reason why we have some of the best doctors and treatments in the world is due to competition. If you are the best you make the most money! The doctors aren’t the problem it’s the greed from pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies

I was in a car collision while in the military. I saw the bill and how much the hospital wanted. They charged for everything used. Understandable. But the cost of the items were sometimes 3x higher than market value. Private insurance will just pay it. Government insurance said, "No. This is how much we are going to pay."
I'm not for state-run healthcare but it's understandable when private insurance is one reason for the hike in medical services. Combine that with expensive college degrees and licensing, it's no wonder labor costs is so expensive in the medical field. Jake Tran already touched on this.

@@nancystockwell7829 It is true the middle class are taxed to fund Medicaid/care, but then they cannot afford healthcare even with insurance because it is so expensive. It is backwards to work hard, but not even be able to pay for your own mere survival first. If we can help others we should, but we always need to be able to keep ourselves and our close loved ones cared for first before we expand our charity to others. I feel like we are killing off the productive workers while providing full coverage for free to people that are technically not producing anything which long term doesn't work in an economy or society as a whole. I think pharmaceutical companies spend so much money on commercial advertising so they have some control over the media coverage of the pharmaceutical industry as a whole. They could put a big dent in advertising revenue for every major broadcast network so they essentially become a controlling interest who could influence the way major network news programs cover their industry

The regulation on food and medicine is beyond ridiculous compared to most countries in the world.
