Hi, Thankyou so much for showing more of the process. I've order this kit with the extra engine kit. I have been modelling for some time now, and really enjoy your videos. Thanks again sir. Have fun! Stomping
subd some time back , then in my recommended I see this !, sweet built dude, still have my Eagle Freighter ( die cast one ) in the loft, still has all the barrels and string !, great looking Spaceship after all these years. Easy to follow video too.
As always Oggie, your problem solving skills are excellent. I'm considering an orange VIP pod as there will be far less masking! I look forward to part 4. All the best.
I actually prefer the Eagle without the red stripes , but I do understand that many people like them. it makes a more visually arresting model , but the trouble applying them & making them come out well is tremendous.
one of the things that makes me hesitate on buildind space kits (1999 or any) is that i actually rhink that with lights they looks better... and i don t understand dick of electronics... great work!
Thanks.....no experience yet with the 1/72. As much as I love the ship I have 4 Eagles in my collection and basically no room for another. I've heard nothing but good things though. Thank you for your kind comment and for watching.
Hi thank you for so much help sadly the File tool is a stupid price. I paid a ridiculous price for the Alclad. But cheaper than a new metal set of engine bells. Hopefully last question what did you use to thin your Alclad with. I have enamel as well as tamiya thinners so hopefully one should work lol. My kit is basically just a bunch of glued bits at the moment. I purchased the water soluble filler you used on your Johnny Quest ship. I plan on using it for the cone when I finish light blocking the interior. Still searching for 1/48 figures to match the Alphas base uniforms. I had also thought of using the 2001 Moonbus crew.
Hi John. Curious...about the Alclad, how much did you pay for a bottle? I was able to buy a bottle at my local hobby store for about $8 and online the average is about the same for a 1 oz bottle. A far cry from $120 for the metal bells. As for thinning, I used it directly from the bottle, no thinning.
Well it worked out eleven English pounds but cheaper than the metal ones. I really wanted a bling version lol. But I was lucky enough to get a good deal on a flex-i-file. So bought it and spare sandpaper slips. Feeling better about my build I really want to make some copper contact strips. Turn the pod into a battery unit but removable. I hope to make 2 eventually so all my stocking up isn't going to waste and have future kits planned.
Hi could you help ?? basically can you match a Evergreen tube. To the size of the standard tube size to the Eagle please. I wouldn't ask just don't have any or can gauge from a ruler. Just trying to convert the rear engines to season 2 pipe work. The tubes I have won't stick even with super and Gorilla. Hope you read this soon. Cheers John
.100" (2.5mm) Evergreen rod is very close to the tubing around the engine tanks. They're not terribly expensive so it'd be easy to get a pack and see. I just checked myself and it looks close to me.
Funny thing is space had a 2 year run on wpix channel 11 NYC in the mid 70's but up until 1984 to 1986 certain Department stores had Egales by the ton sitting stacked up in their toy section. I believe i bought mine at a Macy's or Bloomingdale's
Hi sorry but if you haven't mentioned already. Where did you purchase the sanding tool you use. The one that looks like a mini bow saw ?. I started building mine only to use a full tube of filler and some old sandpaper I wish I hadn't kept. So stocking up on Tamiya sandpaper and buying the clear orange nice touch. But really after ones that look like Alpha uniforms obbosed to spacesuits. Thanks in advance
+John Leightell Hi John. You can find the flex-i-file on Amazon. No doubt on other model websites too. I also recommend checking Flex-i-file.com. Just stumbled across another interesting site....www.micromark.com/19-piece-flex-i-file-set,7129.html
+John Leightell Wish I had discovered this tool a long time ago. Now remember...you don't need to use a lot of pressure when sanding with the tool The ends can snap free if you use too much pressure. You will definitely avoid flattening curved surfaces for sure.
Thanks for the advice I plan on using a couple of your ideas. I was torn on using the pod as a battery container. I'm still going to have it held in by magnets. But have a couple of little metal slithers as power contacts.
+John Leightell I'm posting the final video for this build on Friday. I made a scratch built compartment for the battery. Sure made it easier vs cramming it into the front walkway...at least for me anyway. Thanks for watching. Would love to see pics of your Eagle when you're done.
Hi, What about using silicon tape that plumbers use for those really detailed sections where the bleeding occurred? It's so thin and with pressure might get into those spots. Love you work Sir.
Oh wow thank you so much that's brilliant I'm going to have a look. Sadly the hobbie store situation where I live now is now existence. So stuck to whatever I can find online.
You're welcome. MegaHobby.com has them...just search for Evergreen rods in the search box and you'll see the .100" rods....5 for $3.40. That's a good price.
Looks like a great kit!!! So inspiring!
Appreciate it, thanks

+Stomping Freak Thanks so much for your kind comments. This is a fun kit for sure.
The metallic finish on the engines turned out great. Love the red-white painting of the cargo pod. Keep having fun.
Bill.
Love the model. Good job!

Interstellar Modeler Always a pleasure... i follow your builds with great interest... and when its a space 1999 eagle... its gold and brown!
Very inspirational and detailed! thanks, any experience with the 1/72 new release?

Check with Space 1999 Props and Ships. They have absolutely all the info you can imagine about replicas of the Eagles. Very knowledgable.

i remember i had the mattel version in 1984 that ship was big. wish i kept it.
+Jervis Horton Same here...No doubt many of us wish we'd kept the thing. Lol

+Jervis Horton...Nice.... Now an unopened Eagle would be worth a good amount of money

Interesting idea....it might be worth a try. There's just a lot of contour there so it's a challenge to keep a tight seal.
