  • Hello everyone, this video is a bit late as I had technical issues and lost the original edit, then I got sick for a few weeks.
    We take a trip through Scotland over the Christmas break, 13 days in total using a Tischer Box 200 on the back of our trusty old Hilux. It's a small space but ample enough for two and obviously the comfort level is a step up from our last truck camping arrangement.
    Thanks for watching!!
    Cheers,
    Ben.

    The track with the running river and drone footage of the river where you make a cup of tea, before you show beer from Aldi? 😊

      Ahh that’s the river Feshie, it runs through Glen Feshie. The road we were on runs along the eastern bank of the river 👍.

    You can probably have a “ Karitek” roof rack fitted which would allow you to take your canoe along too ! Keep making the videos please, might see you on the road or loch sometime

    Thank you for taking the time to reply and let me know about the music track. Do you know the actual title of that track. ? INTEREST, is for a lady who writes on RUclips and makes music & video compilations. Hopefully meet you both one day in the future. Observe your loyalty to each other and your dedication to your interests. Excellent. Keep posting. 😊

    Brilliant video, I know all the areas you visited, winter travel is very special. Like your accommodation, home comfort’s but still very adventurous, I like that. Looking forward to the details about your camper. Well done 👏

    Lovely trip vlog. I remember driving through the flow country one night and spotting an old boy dressed in full ww2 uniform, thought I’d see a ghost but apparently he lived in that area.
    One day we will catch up in Scotland with the rest of Europe with plenty of setups ready for vehicular camping.
    There’s a new distillery visitor centre just starting to be built .It’s just north of Carter bar so worth a stop .

      Lol, that would’ve spooked me mate. Yeah there seems to be a bit more infrastructure up there these days but nothing like what they have on the continent. I’ll check out that distillery centre when it’s open, I should explore that area more really, it’s just up the road. Cheers mate 👍

    Great video Ben & Tris, such beautiful scenery and some very changeable weather. That's a nice set up you have there with the HiLux Twin cab and the mountable camper, especially for winter.
    Thanks for showing parts of Scotland not seen before.

      Cheers Tom, thanks for watching! I watched your last video the other day, great film, although it looked bloody cold where you camped. I bought a second hand fat bike a couple of weeks back inspired by your trips, it's a Kona Wo. It was an ex hire bike, only a couple of years old but used and abused so I've replaced a few parts here and there. Hopefully I can get out on it up on the moors next week; no snow down here but plenty of mud and sand. ATB mate 👍

      @@Adventure-Outdoors Excellent news you've joined the 'fat side'!! - its a slower way to travel to be sure but you can take in the views so much better... I started out on a used Kona Wo as well and as you've likely seen I still have it! (albeit lots of new/replacement parts) the wifes was bought new during lockdown and everywhere was sold out of everything but I think I got the second last one in the UK at the time (according to Kona) - anyway hope to see you out on it on a future video! - ATB Tom

    Cheers Ben for another great video - it makes me want to do another Christmas trip around Scotland. I was thinking all through the video that Id like to hear your views, specs, and reasons for the camper as I know you're quite meticulous and would've really looked into it before purchasing. I kind of missed you and Trish huddled around an open fire trying to keep warm with a bottle of red - dont go all soft in that camper (coming from a southerner)😉

      @Adventure-Outdoors - mate we're all getting older and if we can still enjoy the things we do in a little more comfort then brilliant. I'll look forward to the review. I'm off to the Black forest area of Germany in May towing the camper trailer with a roof tent on it behind the Disco, but considering an option like yours, but maybe with a D Max. Mark

    Great to see you both back out on the road. Looking forward to the info on the camper. I had a Hilux twin cab for years in Kenya. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s still going strong. Stability wasn’t the best on good old Kenyan roads. Be interesting to see what you thought with a demountable on the back. Epic base vehicle.

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  9 месяцев назад

      I bet that truck is still going! The camper weighs 530kg dry so it's about half the total load capacity of the truck, you can really feel the weight mind, acceleration drops off a cliff but the handling is fine; just need to drive sensibly. I'm not sure I'd take it off road though without heavy duty leaf springs. Cheers mate 👍

    • @brianbarnes2909
      @brianbarnes2909 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Adventure-Outdoors Sure that would make a big difference. The canopy on mine was higher than the cab but not in the league of a demountable. It was fine for sensible driving but any unexpected avoidance manoeuvres tended to be butt clenching! Never came to grief though. Loved that truck. The dream is to get a vehicle to Iceland. You can do a lot to improve a 4Motion VW van but I’d rather do multiple river crossings in a high clearance low ratio hilux. Good few years away though given the costs. Looking forward to seeing your travels this year (& beer reviews! 🍻)

    Brilliant that Ben! The camper looks great and gives you that flexibility for travelling for days on end, saves waking up in a cold tent every morning! Stunning part of the world you were in and id say the perfect time with hardly anyone around. Excellent filming and editing skills and the use of the drone was perfect for giving perspective of where you were and the views you had. Atb mate 🙂

      Hi Martin, aye it was much more comfortable than the tent, especially for so many days. Might be heading down your way next month, we've got a ferry booked and a few weeks to travel and I reckon we'll be heading south for the sun! ATB mate.

      @@Adventure-Outdoors well it's already hitting 20c here so a nice time to travel. If you're anywhere near Barcelona/Vilanova let me know and happy to go on a day hike in the area with you both. If you're driving through the Pyrenees, I can recommend the mountains above Vielha and the area around Benasque. Happy travels! 🙂

      @@whatsnottohike Hi mate, I'll give you a shout. I reckon I'll take my mountain bike and have a look at some of the trails in the Pyrenees as well. That's if the weather allows, last time I was there in April a few years back there was still a couple of feet of snow on the ground up high. 20c sounds perfect, it's done nowt but rain here for a couple of months. 👍

    • @whatsnottohike
      @whatsnottohike 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Adventure-Outdoors cool! Yeah April there will be snow in the high Pyrenees, still there in June some years. Huesca is a good place for taking the mountain bike, lovely area too and not so much chance of snow. Let me know when you're going as I can try and be in the Pyrenees at the same time. Sounds like a nice trip you're planning 🙂

    Beautiful trip..Thank you. Nice looking camper. Have not seen many for small pickups. Looking forward to upcoming info. Did you need to beef up truck suspension ?

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  9 месяцев назад

      Cheers! You don't see many of them here in the UK, they're definitely more popular in the US and Germany, France etc. I've still got the stock suspension, the camper weighs 530kg dry so it's about half the payload of the Hilux, it drives fine. I reckon I'd replace the leaf springs though if I was planning an off road trip 👍

    Looks like a grand time for sure! Did you have to rebuild the suspension on the hilux for the extra weight allowance, or is that camper fairly light weight? Definitely looks like my kind of camper.

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  9 месяцев назад +1

      I've still got the stock suspension, the camper is fairly lightweight at 530kg dry so comfortable enough for on road driving. Not sure about off road with the stock suspension though, I reckon it would be better with heavy duty leafs. Thanks for watching mate 👍

    Yep it's a shame now that most places are putting up signs no overnight parking....it's the idiots that post places to stay on forums like park4 night....the council's have caught on and look up the places also local campsites are complaining to the council they are loosing business because of the free park ups.....
