Cool you reviewed this! Finished watching the show yesterday and I loved it. Beautifully filmed, interesting characters, amazing storytelling. But the best, for me, was the way it treats wine: focusing on its magic, discovering its aromas, terroir and personality, how it’s the fruit of hard labor and great talent. Pretty romantic view on wine, but I was very happy to wallow in it.
Hey Konstantin, François Audouze has four cellars with 40000 bottles in each I think (including a lot of ancient wines by the way). Have you ever made one of his lunches / dinners in France? If not, you should do one and report on your experience here. It’s probably a one in a lifetime kind of experience, wine speaking! Cheers and thanks for the great content on your channel mate
In China as wine sellers we also mention this manga if the wine has appeared in the book. It’s obviously a much more appealing marketing strategy and sales point compared to just talking about its terroir, how it’s made and the winery story. This manga has a huge impacts on wine geeks around the globe for sure!
Yes please do more episodes! I don’t have Apple TV. I remember when I first started learning that I asked my 5 year old granddaughter what the wine smelled like and she said Green Pepper I was so proud of her!
That was really fun! I don’t really watch many television shows, but I have at least heard of this one and I love your commentary! I say I’m all in on more episodes like this.
My wife and I finished the series recently. This was fun, review the rest! I'd agree, show is a bit over the top at times but it was overall an enjoyable watch for wine nerds. Also some of the actors really needed to be taught how to swirl better, lol.
Just seen all 8 episodes and I actually loved the show. In fact, this show is not that much about wine as the manga or even the first Japanese series (2009). But it's beautifully made.
I’d already seen the first two episodes, but not the subsequent ones. So I almost didn’t watch your video in case you gave away the story lines. Fortunately I did. What really made it, for me, was seeing your face responding to the scenes. Brilliant!
Yes do more please! I went through and enjoyed the entire series, even though it’s so very different from original manga. My husband, who is a wine and manga geek thru and thru, refuse to watch it beyond the first episode because they changed the hero to a French woman😜
Julie from SC, US. I love all your videos. I especially liked this one. I've had this in my watch now wondering if it was worth watching! Now I will and appreciate the background as well. I'll keep watching your videos!❤
As an aspiring wine snob I really enjoy your videos and am always impressed by the depth of your wine knowledge. I think you have invented a new way to draw in thousands of new fans, because you have the knowledge and the personality to make these a LOT OF FUN. I have one suggestion that I think would add a VERY unique element to an already unique wine experience. Give us advance notice of when your next video of a new episodes will be available AND include a bottle of wine that is easily available in the U.S. (that's where I live 😎) so we can share the same wine you are drinking and you can give us your review of the episode AND the WINE!👍🤭. I saw a comment that there is an interesting French wine "soap opera" that would be fun to follow through you that wouldn't be available to your U.S. fans and fans in other countries. i bet there are quite a few of these types of shows that you could access to sustain the fun. Keep up the great work!!
I haven’t had a television for many years, I watch RUclips pretty much exclusively. Watching this convinces me I’m not missing much. Thank you for taking that bullet for me.
After abandoning your channel for some months, this episode was surprisingly entertaining. Keep it up. This wine series is of no interest to me, but showed how much you were in to it. Nice to see. My style is more "You"and "Barry".
Although I've only read the first dozen volumes available in English, it seems the series is got a face-lift from the original manga. The original books have a section at the end of each volume where it goes over the regions of the wine introduced in it. I should read it in it's entirety.😊 soon... Thank you for this great reminder!
Hey Konstantin! Your latest video epistle reached into my Ikigai and would not let go! I have enjoyed wine since my youth and Japan also. Pour moi Japanese and French art are intersecting. From the earliest Japanese prints in the Lourve to the influence on the art of Toulouse Le Trec. My menu choices at my home in Asia are often a fusion of French and Japanese. You have reintroduced me to Japanese anime and French Cinema. I have stayed in the most expensive of Tokyo prefectures (Ebi Su Gardens) and wandered among the bottle shops that grace the mall where First Growths lay on the floor and one has to make an appointment to see the aged First Growths. If you don't do a follow up video, i will!! Cheers!
More of these review videos would be fun! There is a French tv series (also based on a comic) called "Sang de la Vigne" aka "Blood of the Vine." It's about an enologist and amateur detective who uses his palate and knowledge to solve wine-related murder mysteries. It's one of my faves and I think it would be a fun subject for a future video!
Hugh Johnson sold a pretty impressive wine collection, with a couple of bottles of the 45 Latour I seem to remember. Didn't he also have a pop at the 1540 Mad King Ludwig wine?
I'm slowly getting through the manga, and I'm glad you like it as well and even own some volumes. As for the show, it's really funny, because the manga is very Japanese in how it portrays things from a storytelling perspective, and it seems the show is like that as well. But I was glad to hear that between the drama and exaggeration, there are still some parts that resonate with a master of wine.
I have finished watching the full season of the TV show Drops of God!I hope you can share some of the background information of the tv show. I also finished reading the Manga after show😆. The Manga was really 😯 to me. But it is great to learn wine in another way
I am too busy to watch the show so it would be awesome and extremely helpful if you could continue this great series to provide your insights and summarise the key plot points
Could you do a video trying some of Chris Ringlands wines from both Australia and Spain? Both the Alto Moncayo and Dimchurch are my two favorite wines in the world. They are also very different from your regular wine because of High alcohol percentage.
Definitely continue to watch this show and share with us your opinion, please. It's really interesting! I've already watched it to end. It would be interesting if you could express your attitude to wine guides. How realistically is this presented in the show?
I read the graphic novel in Korea but it looks like the story of the tv show is quite different. I think ,as a master of wine, you should send them one of your best tasting training tool, the clamp, asking for one episode that camille trains to analyze the structure of wine and mouth feeling. :)
There's one thing I am wondering. Robert Toi (Roberu-san) from the original dorama (2009) was a clear allusion of Robert Parker (even though a comic one). Here we have Luca... :)
I can never understand why American studios choose to chance the fundamental characteristics of foreign works of art for their own gain. To that end, the original source material is superior, in every way, to this American adaptation.
@@KonstantinBaumMasterofWine it's just for some niche stuff like musk or hay for instance it might help categorize them, thanks for the reply i ordered it hehe
Hey Konstantin, have you heard about the wine collection of Michel-Jack Chasseuil ? I think it would be interesting to see you react to the insanely rare bottles he has. Much love !
It gets a bit more ridiculous at later episodes when at the competition Camille who didn’t drink wine at all a month ago, starts to show incredible wine knowledge at the food pairing portion that only wine experts would know, while some of the other wine knowledge questions asked by the panel were so easy that even an entry level wine enthusiast should know, such as the grape used in Barolo.
Appreciate your review! After reading the manga series tho I kinda hate how they whitewashed half the characters and didn’t address how elitist and inaccessible the “world of wine” is to the rest of the literal world. My takeaway from the book is that wine is a substance that connects us to the earth, memories, and other people - regardless of the price. The show gets at this a little but would really have appreciated a full Japanese POV on this topic rather than France hogging the “winelight” LOL
Awesome 🎉 have to look into it. Read the Manga in Japan years ago 😅 There's nothing like nailing a blind tasting down to producer, vintage and plot. I only did it perfectly 3 times so far. Always Mosel or Bordeaux 😊
Сериал создается для массового зрителя. Для быстрого донесения концепции используются художественные приемы. Это не документальное кино, это потрясающий рассказ о семейных узах через вино и виноделие.
Nononono! The manga was so much better... the cote de rhone bit near the start... the imagery the description!!! I've tasted those wines, I've experienced Bali, I've tried to capture that experience... the manga captured that perfectly!and the female lead in the manga enhanced the experience for the uninitiated perfectly...
Yes sir, please cover some more of this content :) It is fascinating. Welll, more like entertaining. Also i don't have access to apple tv,, it is not available in my country even if i did had an iphone so no chanse on seeing that legaly. Plus i want to avoid pirates as best as i can. So i'd be interested in watching this series here. Drink well.
That has to be a real Celler somewhere where they filmed the scene. I like watching your recaps with commentary. Otherwise I probably am not going to watch the show.
Hi Konstantin, Great that you try something else, but I prefer you as a wine critic rather than a film critic 🥴. You could try to combine the two by tasting the wines (if they are not fiction in the film) from the series, though. But otherwise I prefer your brilliant wine tastings 😊 Cheers Henrik

I didn’t know this manga went international. In Japan, any wine that gets praised in this manga instantly gets popular, and the price goes up!
The wines in the manga and the ATV show are completely different
So stupid.

I’d already seen the first two episodes, but not the subsequent ones. So I almost didn’t watch your video in case you gave away the story lines. Fortunately I did. What really made it, for me, was seeing your face responding to the scenes. Brilliant!
Keep them coming! Enjoyed the series and love to get your commentary. Cheers 🥂
Lets start a go fund me so Konstantin can have an 87,000 bottle cellar. Now where can I find a 2023 Leger guide?
That was awesome! And I’m going to watch that series! Thank you.
I had no idea this manga existed. I'd love to see more videos like this!
Yes do more please! I went through and enjoyed the entire series, even though it’s so very different from original manga. My husband, who is a wine and manga geek thru and thru, refuse to watch it beyond the first episode because they changed the hero to a French woman😜

Yes! Please continue with this Konstantin
Great review!! Love love it! Keep it up

Absolutely fantastic please add more I love it❤

I really enjoyed this video, so please more ❤ greetings from the Netherlands 🙏

I really enjoyed Drops of God - and your critique is excellent too☝️😊

thanks for this....much appreciated
Yes, do more! I enjoyed the series.
Please do review more episodes. You are sure to spot some amusing anomolies. It's a very entertaining show for wine nerds!
Wow ! 148 million dollars : 87,000 bottles of wine. That averages out at 1700 dollars per bottle !!
Fun video. Love to watched more on the third round.
Yes. Please do more. I kind of relate more to these movies or shows.
Awesome! Thank you!!!

How does anyone mistake Licorice for Pear or Apple??
Great comment!😂
After that there is no reason to see other episodes 😅
It was part of the story, because she had avoided tasting or smelling any food or drink for decades her senses were all out of whack.
I watched the whole series and I loved it. Lots of scandal towards the end. Loved the way it ended.
Great job, do more of this and also a series with beste wine movies :)
You are so cute and sweet with how you want that wine collection, the soil collection. It's incredibly endearing!

Omg YamaP is in it! He's so cute hahah my teenagehood idol! I might watch it after my Sommelier night shifts lol
That's $1701 per bottle (148million for 87000 bottles)! I'm sure kostinin 's collection is worth that price too!
I am too busy to watch the show so it would be awesome and extremely helpful if you could continue this great series to provide your insights and summarise the key plot points

Had to start apple tv subscription because of you.
So how many bottles do you have in your cellar?
Yes, absolutely, do more, it was fun 😊
Love this, more please!
What goes well with Popcorn? Chablis maybe? Or is Chardonnay too buttery, then probably a Riesling?

This series led me to your RUclips channel!
I’m embarrassed to ask, but what is a cold wine comic?
I was driven by dramaturgy and wine after first episode. But after second - only by wine ))
I enjoyed the series and would love to see you comment on the rest of the episodes!!
Please put some more reviews on the episodes for the serie
Wow, can you provide a summary of each episode and your personal perspective of it?
I absolutely loved this series....but Camille getting that familiar with wines and vintages so quickly is ridiculous. I highly recommend it though.
There's one thing I am wondering. Robert Toi (Roberu-san) from the original dorama (2009) was a clear allusion of Robert Parker (even though a comic one). Here we have Luca... :)

Never heard of it before but anyway. Thanks for showing.
Love it from the UK
Queens Gambit goes wine tasting 😉 still, looks fun!

I'd be like a kid in a sweet shop in that cellar 🍷😂
Yes, more please!
You think the tasting kit is worth it ? I'm doing diploma currently but a bit hesitant to buy it
You can also practice with the fruit, spices and vegetables that you have at your house. But it is quite useful
@@KonstantinBaumMasterofWine it's just for some niche stuff like musk or hay for instance it might help categorize them, thanks for the reply i ordered it hehe
Have you done a show on Tokaji, would love to see you tackle this.
Not yet but I have tasted one in my sweet wine video
@@KonstantinBaumMasterofWine Looking forward to that episode

nice. I was hooked to the series. havent got a chance to get the manga yet. wouldn't surprise me if they make a sequal series.
Good episode, I liked it. Unfortunately I have no Apple TV.

Looks just a tad OTT for me.. My question is this; what's that you're drinking there with the popcorn Konstantin? 🌟👍
A jacquere from Savoie 😁

Very enjoyable

As someone with severe epistaxiophobia I don't want to connect wine with Nosebleedds :/
You should try reading the Manga as well that the show was inspired/adapted from
