    Finally picked up the 2.0 box cause I couldn't find the 1.0. The did fit the 1.0 box but, was cumbersome to get fit vs 1.0 to 1.0 box. I saw some complaining one the 2.0 bottom box when opening it rolls all the morning dew or water into the main box off the lid. With this in mind I am happy to have the 1.0 box still. Thanks for the reviews. Def going to have to get that handle mod for middle of the two drawer unit.

    Totally agree with your assessment. I do like the longer organizer cups on the 2.0 for storing longer bolts and lags that I use in my proffession. Sadly I've not been more impressed with my 2.0 boxes then my 1.0 boxes. I was able to get my 2.0 stuff at a decent discount at Rural King when they had a sale a year or so ago so I pulled the trigger to try them out instead of adding more 1.0 boxes to my system. The quick latching is nice on the 2.0 but the old system latching never bothered me that much. And for me 1.0 works just as well if not better in some situations as I have the DS carrier. So I will buy 1.0 boxes in the future if I can find them as it is certianly bound to be a better deal then buying the 2.0 system stuff.

      Thanks for sharing your experiences. My toughsystem 1 boxes get more use than the 2.0 boxes. May be I’ve been using them longer and I can pack them more efficiently. When I need more boxes, I usually try to find the 1.0 boxes first since they’re less expensive. I’m looking forward to Black Friday this year and curious to see if prices drop further.

      Thanks for sharing your experience! Yesterday I saw Home Depot had the 2.0 mobile tool box for $178 online and it came with a bonus small and medium box (so basically the whole mobile system) as well as a deep tool tray. I was considering getting another; however, I decided to give the Ridgid 2.0 Pro Gear a try because I like the idea of being able to roll in and mount the boxes to studs, which also allows the lids to be open. Unfortunately the handles are a bit wiry so if the big box is loaded and I’d I’m not wearing gloves it isn’t great. Not as nice as the old Ridgid boxes either. If you go packout, let me know what you think.

    DeWalt got complacent on the storage systems. They had years of advantage and wasted it. Now it's small incremental changes that don't even compare to the massive amounts of competition. It's so bad that a few years ago they showed off a triple drawer 1.0 and that still hasn't seen the light of day. It's either horrible R&D, or some contract issues with Keter. Maybe both. So much potential wasted.

    When i bought my 2.0 drawers, if they were 1.0, I wouldn't have bought them. I don't actually have the whole set with wheels and whatnot, i just got two of the drawer boxes because after a lot of running out of the store and measuring i realized they would fit perfectly in the toolbox on my truck (a 2'x2'x4’ jobsite style box). If they had had the center mounting hardware the 1.0 boxes have i wouldn't have gotten them. In the box on my truck i just had to pull out the backpack and other tool bag in front of them and the drawers could open. And the drawers provide way better organization than the milk crates i was using beforehand 😅
    Somewhat recently i got the duffle style bag, two of the 2.0 organizers, and the deep compact half box. I like the cups and the long slit in the middle actually holds some miscellaneous bits in the organizers. Side note, height wise the cups fit perfectly in the drawers and two of the double cups live permanently there.
    The deep half box might not have been the best call because i found that all the tools i wanted to put in there couldn't fit by a c-hair, but I just load it with specific tools per job.
    I'll probably be getting more of the normal boxes in the future but those would be too keep in the shop and take out on a job per job bases. I'll probably wait until i see a deal i can't pass up on

    I dont own any DeWalt storage items but I do like watching videos and seeing the difference between systems and different perspectives. I agree DeWalt should have some way to lock the drawers. Personally, i wouldnt have an issue with seeing light from the drawer. I dont leave my stuff outside or in the back if a pickup where rain could get blown in and i wouldnt need them to be air tight. I havent seen anyone disappointed they couldnt drop a handful of screwdrivers in the gap of the bins in other videos. I dont drop handfuls of screwdrivers anywhere. The one screwdriver that you tried to position in the gap was clearly too big. I wouldn't ding DeWalt for that. I would have liked to see what it could be used for. Smaller screwdriver, masonry bits, long 1/4" bit holder for the different fasteners that could go in those bins. Last thing, I personally wouldnt be bent out of shape that there isnt a handle on the top. I probably wouldnt carry that in one hand and something else in the other, or two at the same time if they were loaded up with tools. With the Milwaukee, Rigid, and Toughbuilt containers I have, I take them out of a vehicle and set them on a cart or the base part of the system and wheel it around to wherever it needs to go. Picking it up with two hands to put it on a cart isnt a big deal but i could see needing the handle on top if I needed to walk somewhere with it and carry another tool bag, 5 gal bucket, or something.

    With the organizers the 2.0 has bigger cups for the smaller ones then the 1.0. The 1.0 cups are hard to dig your fingers when the bin isnt full. The weird middle storage packout has as well so thats prolly why. The issue with the 2.0 not going into the arms irritated me too but with my setup its doable for me as the drawers that it sits on for me stay in the truck anyway and not mobile into the job. If you take a multi tool and you cut that bump out on the arms a 1/4" the organizer will fit how you need. Now the 2.0 drawer it irritates me that the box is identical to the 1.0 except for the latches and half box capability. The drawers should have been made deeper and an overall taller box to match packout drawer size. I dont think you can buy the 1.0 anymore from what ive seen but correct me if im wrong 2 DIFFERENT boxes jus makes too much sense for the end user so dewalt said screw you. I still needed them so i got them of course.

    • @BruceAlanR
      @BruceAlanR  2 года назад +1

      Great info so thanks for sharing all that. Does seem lazy of DeWalt to make so few improvements to the box with drawers. I’ve seen a few 1.0 drawers online, but they’re definitely hard to come by… and the price has gone up. I needed more drawers too and when I went to HD and they had the 2.0, I was like just grab it and be done with it. I honestly hate shopping.

      @@BruceAlanR the original 1.0 has no yellow foam around the edges. Water will go straight into it if any rain gets on it and they are very flimsy. I see why they immediately upgraded them. I don’t know how I missed the in between version. I use the DS carrier and would much rather have the two drawer with the locking mechanism on the back.

    • @BruceAlanR
      @BruceAlanR  11 месяцев назад +2

      Wow! I’ve never seen it without the drawer gaskets. Must have been the original version. I agree that DeWalt should have made the 2.0 boxes compatible with their own DS carrier, which is far superior to the mobile toolbox.

This mod community has created 3D printed mods and well as 3rd party add ons. So you can fine tune these packout boxes to perform way beyond what the others are capable of.
