I am truly amazed at the product you are putting out, and the way you've been able to play on brand new courses. Keep going Playa!! 😎👊
Kingsbarns is a great course and used to be half the price of St Andrews Old Course, but now they seem to be pricing it for the American tourists rather than the locals.
@@kevingallagher7507 that’s a fact. Americans won’t book if the green fee is under $200 That’s not even a joke. Courses have done market research to find out why they not front booked. Then they triple their price and are full
I love Kingsbarns, and #12 is probably my favorite hole in the world. I hope you get to play Crail, Matty Boom-Boom. You can actually see it from the 12th, and it is a blast to play. I think the front 9 at Crail and the back 9 at Kingsbarns is the perfect 18.
One of the more relatable rounds for me! I've been leaking strokes in an identical manner for the past few weeks and I can relate to the frustration and despair. Thanks for sharing your round on an absolutely breathtaking course!
Course designer Kyle Phillips has designed a number of courses here in California, in fact only two other courses outside of CA then it's all CA courses. San Francisco, Menlo Park and Wilshire are a couple here. Then in the Sacramento area he did Morgan Creek golf course. It's a beautiful layout with a lot of the same features as this very course. Really great place to play.
Walked on the beach in June and admired the players who had $450 to spend. Thanks to you, I could now see the whole course. Beautiful, thank you very much! Cheers Steffen
Best 18th hole comments I hit a 7 iron short from 157 too! I loved the course but it’s a US course not a Scottish course and if you don’t figure that out from the level of fancy at the driving range …
The thing about a links course running fast with a bit of wind; its so difficult to get the ball close to the hole and you only have to be slightly off.
We have the same issue with green fees in New Zealand. Some really nice courses, but the green fees are well out of the price range for the locals. Some have residents rates, but a lot don't.
If your scoring declines after the 12th hole, you may be suffering from what we in Texas call the "13th hole sugar drop." That is when your blood glucose drops, you become confused, and compound error. Eat a candy bar and drive with your 1 iron for two holes until it comes back up.
Watched the Nedbank from Sun City over the weekend and thought, that’s looks a nice course, bet it ain’t cheap. £43. With a lunch at the half way house.
Great course and top lads you hooked up with there. Perfect example of what a firm links course with a wee breeze can do to you if you don’t engage your brain 🧠
Couldn’t bring myself to pay that for a single round. Just couldn’t. Used to be able to play three rounds at St Andrews, inc one on the Old, for about £170 total (their winter ticket). All sold out this year even though we applied on the 1st day, apparently they have started selling the winter packages to tour companies and I guess they just snap up blocks of them before ordinary golfers get a chance to buy. Real shame.
Scottish folk can get to play there for £90 a round .. least that’s what it cost me a couple years ago. Our playing partners were an Americans and paid same as you. I hoped you liked it.
Gorgeous video! Waddacourse! Noticed you really getting thru more or exaggerating your turn thru the ball more than in the past. Something you are working on?
Played Kingsbarns over the summer and didn't think it was worth the pricetag. Sure it's well kept but it feels like an American resort course. Huge fairways and the caddy was telling me how much they've cut back the gorse to make it easier for the American tourists. Dumbarnie was much much more enjoyable course I think. You should try and play Castle Stuart if you can. Might be the best course I've played. It was designed by the same guy as Kingsbarns but is a way nicer course. Every hole feel like it's own amphitheatre just like Dumbarnie
it really is a crap latte ….the American-style clubhouse was the closest I got to what looked like an epic course. Only corporate America seemed able to pay those fees… Crail and the New Course were much more reasonably priced.
I think they were pulling your plunger when they told you it was the most expensive course to play, Donald Trump's Turnberry's Ailsa Course is widely accepted as the most expensive in Scotland at around £500 a pop. Either way, there is not a course in all of the UK Ireland or Europe worth over £150 a round. Unless its like those American courses where they feed you when you get there, give you a golf cart with radio to call for free snacks and drinks to be brought out to you when you are playing and give you a nice sit down dinner afterwards. 😊
When they have the Dunhill Links tournament this course usual plays pretty tough!! Looks great and the weather must not of been too bad since your partners were wearing shorts!! 🏌♂⛳
Wait a minute here - Kingsbarns sell Tennants?! No way, caddies must've had it in their bags. No way the snobby bastards would allow tennants to lower the tone. Swinging like an absolute demon, all that Scottish air is doing you good (and the tennants)!
I'd say that 90+% of Scottish golfers walk their round- an average 18 holes would be 3.5 to 4 hours and "pace of play" is usually noted on the scorecard and at various holes.
They are all different courses but most are on the east coast of Scotland so look visually similar. I think Gleneagles is the only non Links course he has played over here.
