Thinking of the 8h. note as a long, short triplet is only an approximation. It’s fine at a slow to medium tempo. As the tempo speeds up though, those swing 8ths. would normally get somewhat closer to even 8th. Otherwise it sounds like Lawrence Welk swing.

Ooh, I can't wait to try this at the piano! I'd never played Jazz before starting with Piano With Jonny, and I think this will really help me get the feel of it! Being one of those classically trained pianists I struggle with getting the right rhythm for Jazz, but I'm determined to get it! :) Thanks Jonny!

      Hello I'm your opposite 👋🏽
My music theory and general piano playing level is fairly basic, but I can swing 🙌🏽 It's about the only thing I don't struggle with haha
Good luck with getting that swing, and maybe one day I'll be able to sight-read at higher than kindergarten level 😂

Out of all the videos I watched on you tube about swing piano yours was the best. You gave exercises to help instead of just talking thank you 🙏🏾

Great as usual. Even if I already know certain things, your explanations are always very clear and useful.

This video was amazing. I'm currently taking traditional piano lessons and a jazz song cropped up into one of the practice songs so I was hoping to get a feel for the swung eighth notes in it....and got so much more. I think I just fell in love with jazz piano a little bit. Liked and subscribed. Thank you!!!

...Instead "Long" and "Short", I would prefer "Long" and "Late"' because the term "Short" ist an Artikulation to me! Greetz from Germany!

Wow bebop. One of my favourite styles of music. Imagine how they must have felt when they gave birth to it in the 50's. Bebop. Pure Magic.

There's a mistake in the last example - Jonny plays Cmaj7 2 times instead of Cmaj7-C6

I know a lot about the rules... I just try to break them ... a little from time to time. Try a new note/riff into a normal scale ...like 2-5-1. Dm7-G and C...in all the forms to play these 3 chords.
