So glad this video came up first in the search list. From the comments I can see the official way requires a lot more time and effort. My left side bulb just failed and I can now approach this job with confidence. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I'm so pleased to finally see a video showing the dipped beam bulb replacement without either crawling underneath the wheelarch and partially removing the liner to gain access, or even worse, removing the headlight unit completely. Admittedly, it needs a bit of patience. And tiny fingers help. 🙂🙂 But your video was perfect! Thank you!
Yes! Was what I was looking for. After finding this myself when looking to replace mine every guide I found kept saying you needed torx wrench and to take off a million parts to remove the whole head unit lol. After a bit of fiddling and help from your video was way easier and cheaper just doing it like this! Great video thanks again!
I just did both sides on a US 2017 Golf Alltrack. Rubber gaskets covered the opening. Took about 1 minute on passenger side, maybe 3 minutes on driver side. Small hands, patience, and spatial awareness are key. Thank you for showing orientation of the plastic assembly the bulb goes into. I wore nitrile gloves and managed to complete the job without bloody knuckles.
I have a poorly translated video instruction. it is supposed to be a replacement of the entire headlight. when I only changed the bulb without gloves, both hands were cut
Excellent camera work! There's an actual arrow on the holder that should be pointing up. Nice that you showed that. Becoming a pro at changing mine on my MK7 Golf TSI.
Thank you! Reasonable person doing a thing in a reasonable way! It was super easy. You don’t need to take your car apart. Do what this dude does. It’s easy. Totally not the huge production other videos make it seem.
Yes !!! i just did it. 5 minutes work :D . I was reading in the manual and it said i had to pull the whole unit out.. grill bumper and what not.. i was like OMG. But thanks to this video i saw that it isnt needed at all. I did it !! woohoo. Thank you !
Update - removing the cover and bulb holder was quite easy. However, trying to get the bulb back in was very fiddly and the holder doesn’t grip the bulb very firmly and the bulb ended up falling out and down into a recess beyond my reach. Fortunately there’s an easy to remove inspection panel in the wheel arch and I was able to retrieve the bulb through that. I finally managed to install the new bulb and all is now well. Actually I did this in the dark using my phone as a torch and it would probably have gone more smoothly if I’d waited until daylight. I also had the more difficult side which is the left. Anyway, if it can be done by an idiot like me in the dark, I’m sure most of you out there will find it no problem!
This Instructional video should get an OSCAR OR EMMY Bravo Buddy . You probably dont speak English but Thank You . Seriously to the POINT no life story or how you came upon this knowlege and now An entire hour of meandering boring crap .YOU JUST SIMPLY EXPLAINED THE PROCESS HANDS ON LIGHT ON FOCUS ON SIMPLICITY ON AMAZING HOW YOU MADE A VIDEO AND TOTALLY STAYED ON POINT NO B. S. THANKS AGAIN AND HAVE A GOOD REST OF YOUR LIFE YOU DESERVE IT .
Thanks for this, just changed the same bulb but for the opposite side. There is even less room to manoeuvre but it is possible, you just need patience and small hands.
Easiest way. Take 5 minutes. Dont need any tools. For black plastic covers you need use more force to push them. Video shows best way how to change bulbs. I just change both sides. Thx.
Further update. The bulb blew again probably due to being too old and not stored properly. This time I did it during daylight hours and completed the job easily in under 5 minutes.
The other side is a real pain you better have small hands and accept getting cuts and grazes. I found unhooking the windshield washer fluid piping and moving it out of the way helps. Some people just can't do it and need to go as far as taking the whole headlight assembly out.
Do it from the BOTTOM: turn the wheel inward, remove several screws holding wheel well liner (T25), then carefully pull down the liner to give you an opening to access to the bulb. You can do both sides this way.
Do you maybe know what could be the problem, I changed the low beam headlight and still get the error, the bulb is working on other car, but not in my. What could be the issue?
Do it from the BOTTOM: turn the front wheel inward toward the engine, remove several screws holding the wheel well liner (T25), then carefully pull down the liner to give you an opening to access to the bulb. You can do both sides this way.

well, if you have bigger hand, it is nearly impossible to access the bulb. but anyway this video is great. this guy is the best for Golf 7
True, i had to pay 10£ for someone to change it for me, and now i had to change one again so i do it on my own with this video

Thank you for showing the proper direction to put the bulb back in. This was a huge help!
Good work mate! Thanks to you, i managed to change bulbs in a few minutes.
Thanks!
Straight to the point with no waffle at the start of the video. 👍
Brilliant video! I had it done in 5 minutes and I've got hands like Jeremy beadle!
Very good video and I know how hard it was to film it. Thanks :)

Best tutorial I could find! Thanks!
Thanks!!! Your video is the best one that explains easily important steps to keep care
Just watched a Philips video and they remove the whole light after taking half the car to bits! This looks much easier, quicker and manageable.
just change mine very easy thanks for the video
Great video! Excelent view! Thanks for sharing!😃
Great job man. Thanks! 👍💪

I agree. it could be done with curved pliers

@@golfwagen4173 which year model is this?

Thanks a lot!
How is called this socket?
Do you maybe know what could be the problem, I changed the low beam headlight and still get the error, the bulb is working on other car, but not in my. What could be the issue?
Check the correct fuse in your fuse box. If broken, replace with a correct size fuse
Thanks ❤
thank you
Thank you ferry mutch😂
The best video

Why though? This seems super easy
@@jonnenneYes, on the windshield reservoir side, the top approach is easy. On the air filter side, it's much easier from the bottom.
Have done both sides like it was shown on the video. Still super easy. Just a little bit more tricky. Patience is absolutely key
You must not have extra large hands if this was super easy for you tiny hands man!
From 5 minute job to 1 hour 🤪
Thanks
H7 bulb????
Yes, that's the easy side, now show us how to do the other side !!
Can’t get the plastic black cover off. Really tight and restricted space to manoeuvre makes it impossible. Guess it will be a trip to Halfords!
now show how to change the drivers side 🤣👎👎👎
this video is misleading - I tried it and the cover on mine won't come off.
You need use more strength, work perfectly. I just change both sides...
Removing headlights is so much easier 1 plastic nut and pull the lever inside the high beam lens ? Remove wiring and do in armchair with a beer
Thank you
