I have to take similarly index of trees. I have 50 quadrants and 39 species obtained in the 50 quadrants........will this method help with that?

you're not looking for a significance factor with this equation, but the closer the coefficient is to 1, the more similar 2 communities are. 0 means the communities have none of the same species and 1 means the communities are the same.
