    Welcome to the first episode of a series called Behind the Mask. With the unexpected presence of COVID-19, the world has experienced a global shift in how we as humans interact and engage with each other. Specifically, in the healthcare industry, COVID-19 pandemic has caused a stratified impact on the healthcare workforce. In this series, we share the stories of doctors and healthcare professionals who have been on the frontlines want to document what their experiences have been like behind the mask. This week, we are sharing the story of Emergency Medicine Physician and Fashion Blogger Dr. Esther Ihezie.
    About Dr. Esther
    Dr. Esther Ihezie is a NY based ER physician and fashion designer to a contemporary brand Ezie. A Nigerian immigrant and the first of 5, she spent her formative years in Abia State before relocating to Maryland with her family as a teen. She obtained her B.S in Biology and Chemistry before spending a year as a research fellow studying treatment agents for squamous cell carcinoma at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. In 2006, Esther attended SUNY Upstate Medical University where she received her M.D. Since the completion of her training, Dr. Ihezie has gone to practice emergency medicine in various ER’s across New York State and Chicago Illinois over the last 10 years. However, despite a rigorous medical journey, Esther nursed a creative aspect designing clothes for women for years and behind closed doors until her passion became a purpose; in 2017 Ezie was born. Ezie has been seen on runways, various editorials from L’Officiel, Elle India to Harpers Bazar, and has been seen on the likes of Tamron Hall. Besides practicing medicine, fashion design, education, and philanthropy, you can catch Esther spending time with loved ones, traveling, or enjoying other forms of art.

    About Dr. Orobosa
    Dr. Orobosa Owie is an executive trainer, professor, global speaker, and author of her first book “Be Bold, Be Confident, Be You: A Motivational Guidebook in Shattering the Fear Ceiling”. As a former United Nations Youth leader, she created and hosted a series of programs and events that focused on providing the next generation of emerging leaders with the essential tools, resources, and advice needed to succeed. Impressed by her impact within the NYC Young Professionals community, Orobosa was invited by President Obama to be a part of a round table discussion at the White House in 2010 to discuss the launch of the administration’s Young African Leaders Initiative and its Nelson Mandela Washington Fellowship.
