How on earth was this not a #1 chart topping hit in country music ?!?!? She has the purest vintage country voice out there. My guess is she wants to do things her way and be true to herself and her sound and not conform to what big major record labels want her to do . She is on the verge of a grammy I just know it ! Keep doing you Sierra we love it and are here for it .
because the popular music industry is an image driven industry now. this woman is clearly a true artist and the demand and supply has been 💩 for so long now that "that" is what people think is the goods. Sierra will get there because real music lovers will get her there
Because all music is over produced for the last 50 or more years. Often I find myself liking the first recording of an artist. When that has success the figure “the wall of sound” will be more of a commercial success. Revolting
100% agree!! her album was a let down, because it was way way wayyyy over produced and engineered. I wish she would just do it over with a different studio. she is amazing in these videos where its just her with a camera and a few microphones.
Yes, we've covered this in earlier releases and it's true, but she is an artist and whatever she creates we can only be inspired by it. She's an original. Even with too much or too little she is art, and always worth our attention.
Although I like album version, she is SOOOOO good stripped down to just her voice and that guitar. Her phrasing is just so special when she can play with it a little bit.
Just saw her last week. She had a fiddle, mandolin, and bass with her. Most people were there to see Shakey Graves but they were fans by the time she was done.
My mom passed away in '04 and Sierra looks exactly like her. When she locks eyes with the camera, it's like I'm looking directly at my mom. The world is an eerie place.
Wow. This is amazing. That reverb makes her voice go on forever. If I close my eyes, I can hear this out of a radio in the radioactive desert of a Fallout game.
She's doing old school country with her own twist. Fallout mostly did doo-wop and never did country as far as I know. Just appreciate her voice going on forever. No need to compare it to other stuff.
Comparative thinking is what we do as a species! Anyway, what I should have said was "The sound of this is like a song I would expect to hear wafting across the radioactive deserts after emerging from Vault 101 from a far-off, half broken and full of sand radio"
That seems to be a trend with most of the people on this channel, I fall in love with a performance of theirs and find it on Spotify and it's almost a different song
I had to look it up to verify that she actually wrote that...sounds like it is straight from the 1950s but you're right, she (co-)wrote it! Impressive!
YES! Cash is my fav artist ever and she has a lot in common with him. They both draw in the camera, have a cheeky wry smile and emphasise certain words and tones.
When I first started playing acoustic guitar and singing I told my cousin I needed a mic. He replied with “No you don’t, singing is about controlling your volume, too many musicians talk into a mic and then rely on the studio for volume control. A true guitarist will not need a mic to be heard over their guitar.” She nails everything about this, so damn well.
I'm confused by this comment. You see that she's wearing a mic, right? I don't mean to be a troll; I just want to point out to new musicians that this sound balance is not natural. It is the work of a quality technician and a soundboard.
Yes she is wearing a mic, and I agree with there being obviously a technician and a soundboard but what I’m trying to point out exactly it the fact she is only really playing the root notes loud, strumming quietly when she has to lower her voice to hit notes. It’s a very hard technique to master even for veteran musicians. You tend to lean either to guitar or vocals but I think shes found a very happy common ground between those two skills. And I don’t think you’re a troll, very valid comment.
that kind of thinking only applies in small quiet settings. Also some people just have quiet voices but are great singers. Sounds like cuzzo needs to learn a few more lessons before laying down the law
She really is one of the new greats. She’s up there for me with George, Patsy, Eddie Arnold & Marty Robbins. Amazing songwriting that’s simple but so catchy and actually memorable. Plus her voice is too good for words. I really love this girl, I’m so glad I get to witness her career soar in real time. Effortlessly talented!
Uh oh, Loretta, Patsy, and Tammy....Knock'm dead Sierra Ferrel. You are an original and an oldie. Oh you got it girl! I hope you are nominated for the grand ole Opry.
For all those bemoaning the production on her album vs. the stripped down acoustics of this version, I say why fuss, we get to have it all. That's the beauty of how many different ways we can see her performing her songs through this ol' internetty thing. I've been surfing Sierra Ferrel song versions all week, and what a pleasure it's been.
I rather have this on the album in high quality playing on my sound system than what you get now, listening on YT with its low quality on the computer. So no, we don't get the best of both worlds. Both versions on an album with high quality sound would make it so.
There is something beautifully haunting about the natural reverb that hall makes. I’m not a big fan of revival but this is some of the best music happening right now!
I learned of Sierra Ferrel from two women for whom I play mandolin when they sing at the local hangout. I am beginning to think that SF is a really amazing unrecognized talent, seemingly simple in style but finely crafting songs not connected to any particular era yet free of frills or gimmicry

I'm fuckin mesmerized...
She sings like a country star from 75 years ago. Absolutely timeless
it sounds like it should be coming through a gramophone
i COULD SPEND THE REST OF MY DAY LISTENING TO HER
Very true but she adds modern to it somehow. I can't really say which part sounds fresh, but it does

It's because it's not tractor rap or boy band music.
Hey Western AF, so I speak on behalf of everyone when I say we need that rendition of The Garden. DO IT!!!!!!

Yes, do it! Digging the vibe, sounds like it'd be in a True Detective soundtrack.

It cracks me up... I am a big metalhead, but this young lady's voice has me.
Good to listen to more than one genre
Listen to Billy Strings if you haven't. He used to be in a metal band
Same here brother
100% same here
@@mitchellthurner5980 Billy Strings, Marcus King, Colter Wall, Shakey Graves all great.
I feel like colter wall would sound really good singing with her
That would be like a modern day June Carter and Johnny Cash duet. Their voices would compliment each other perfectly.
@@livingminimumwage6359 that is exactly my thought. His lower tone and her higher pitch would contrast perfectly.
no i think you are off base here
100%
Oh man! THIS HAS TO HAPPEN!
Why can’t the record producers capture this sound on her albums? These live recordings sound 1000x better than the records…
if i had the chance, i could.
Because all music is over produced for the last 50 or more years. Often I find myself liking the first recording of an artist. When that has success the figure “the wall of sound” will be more of a commercial success. Revolting
It's been like this for years. Willie Nelson's carreer was made off of live records
Sadly the same with even Samantha Fish.
I haven't heard her albums yet, but this is not a "live" recording. The audio was recorded separate and she's lip syncing for the video production.
She is the siren old sailors would speak of. A building could be during down and her voice would still lead me inside
I wish her album was more like this than it is. She’s just so much better without a lot of production behind her.
I feel the same way about a lot of artists lately. "Unplugged" versions so much better than the produced albums
100% agree!! her album was a let down, because it was way way wayyyy over produced and engineered. I wish she would just do it over with a different studio. she is amazing in these videos where its just her with a camera and a few microphones.
Well lucky us, we get both! As long as she is happy with her album then I am STOKED for her. I think her Album is an incredible piece of art.

The album is amazing, she's also great like this. I don't think the album is over produced at all.
Although I like album version, she is SOOOOO good stripped down to just her voice and that guitar. Her phrasing is just so special when she can play with it a little bit.
Couldn't agree more. Her voice fills any space she is in and just carries on and on. She does not require any accompaniment whatsoever.
Just saw her last week. She had a fiddle,
mandolin, and bass with her. Most people were there to see Shakey Graves but they were fans by the time she was done.
It’s the way I prefer her performances. Her, her guitar, and that perfect melodious powerhouse of a voice. That’s all I need or want.
Agree 100%.
Just her voice, guitar and outfit
Every time she makes eye contact with the camera it sets my heart ablaze
Is your heart located in your penis?
I can see myself listening to her 30 years from now; her writing is timeless.
She’s a legend from meow on
This is the Sierra I love.
Her album missed out on this feeling. Hope she gets a producer that understands that on the next one.
That is right...love her ole time too. It's coming. Long time coming. Just blown away and so smitten in Colorado
Facts!!!
Yeah this girl has to be live.
yup
it's radio... it's bands... they did the same to Tyler Childress... Country is a phoenix...

I swear the bells in every chapel
Were ringing the day that I met you
From high in the trees
Birds were singing
Singing of you and me
From deep in the crowd
You were glowing
You were glowing without even knowing
So from way over here it looked crystal clear
You were the one for me
But life ain't so simple
No life it ain't so kind
Yes life could lead you somewhere to be all alone
You're crying crying crying
I swear the bells in every chapel
Were ringing the day that I met you
They were ringing so clear
But you couldn't hear
Your heart could never be mine
I swear the lilies in every valley
Were blooming the day that you touched me
When you took my hand
You told me that one day I would understand
But now I'm much older and suddenly I see
Just what you were talking about
Still from way over here it looked crystal clear
You were the one for me
But life ain't so simple
No life it ain't so kind
Yes life could lead you somewhere and you'll be all alone
And you're crying crying crying
I swear the bells in every chapel
Were ringing the day that I met you
They were ringing so clear
But you couldn't hear
And your heart could never be mine
