So I bought me a Sonoff Zigbee dongle and want to get it updated to support Matter/Thread.

Thank you for posting. I have a Sonoff dongle coming and did not know it was matter / thread capable. I be using this when my dongle arrives.
Nice simple tutorial. I did notice a warning about encryption being disabled in the logs.
have you been using this firmware so far? How is it going, I tried Zigbee dongle e with non multi protocal firmware, I am having issues with pairing devices. I can't pair more than 28 devices. How is things for you so far?

I just used windows update to update the drivers for the sonoff, then the web based flasher worked great
Windows and Mac should work pretty easily to get it updated.
Thanks for the information. It is nice way to flash firmware. I use VirtualBox to run Home Assistant. I have problem for the Silcone Labs Multiprotocol Add On. It did not detect the dongle and asking me the port. However, none of the choice match the port I have in VirtualBox. Another trouble is in Zigbee2Mqtt, how do I know what is the Server and Serial Port?
Is there any drawbacks for having it set to Multi-PAN? like lesser performance for each protocol Zigbee2MQTT and Matter??

This is experimental, I don't recommend using it on your production home assistant yet. I have tested it on my testing environment, it works fine but I noticed some issues with battery levels and link quality. The link quality is always 255. Also, zigbee button actions aren't registering correctly. The action value always shows NULL
and what to use in production?
Can I use this firmware for a router stick too or do I need different firmware for that? If I need different firmware, is there a multi-protocol router firmware or zigbee only?

Hi nice video. Do you need to rebuild the zigbee network when you already have zigbee2mqtt running on the dongle with only zigbee when you upgrade to matter and zigbee firmware? Or are all devices remembered
yes, you will have to rebuild the network
MultiPan is not recommended. As it is causing some issues.
Hi! I'm installing this dongle-e on fresh home assistant in raspberry pi. Now, under the zigbee2mqtt configuration. Do I need to add anything under 'mqtt' section? Should I leave it blank? Or do I need to copy your 'server' and add my user and password?
You shouldn’t need to add anything under mqtt, you are correct on the server part

I'm on Linux 22.04.3 which driver should I download? I'm not clear on that!

Why you all on YT talk about flashing firmware, I'm confused does this dongle come with no firmware at all? Why is this important
It's most likely that the factory flashed Firmware is out of date. Most hardware isn't flashed with the most recent software out of the factory. So it's pretty standard to upgrade. In this case it seems like he is using some kind of experimental firmware also.
