since I don't celebrate Christmas I don't do that kind of shopping, plus Fridays I and another woman cook lunch at my mosque, we served over 150 meals after the midday Friday prayer
Hey Linda great haul.. with cold meds im shortage . In going old school. Waterbath canning sliced lemon and honey or chopped onions and honey for colds. Im still learning how to make elderberry syrup and place them in mason jars.. for headaches essential pepperment oils are great to when shtf happens..
How much onion or lemon do you put with the honey. Then, do you take some of ingredients with a spoon, etc or just drain off liquid. I remember, when I was a child, my grandma stirred something, including onion, together. I had a bad cough, and it helped right away. I've never been able to find out what it was...she went to Heaven when I was a teen. I am wondering if your honey or lemon blends are what she made. Thank you !!🤗🎄
I didn’t see a single Black Friday ad. We looked online for ads and got the paper and there was Home Depot, lowes and kohls. We have always gone out but there were no deals to get so we didn’t go out.
Add veg all in a saucepan with a can of v8, dehydrated chopped onion and garlic, Italian seasoning and a little black pepper. Its the quickest vegetable soup you'll ever make and is tasty and hearty.
I was able to get stocking stuffers and was grateful for that.... I had the little gifts to put in them already, just needed some chewing gum and one candy type for each stocking. I didn't think I'd even be able to do that this week, but I did. I'm currently making potholders and coasters to pass along with gifts for the adults as well as "drip candle bottle" candleholders, and a couple of other small simple crafts to pass along with gifts for the adults. I'm done with buying stuff for Christmas. Next week, I hope to purchase some more canned goods and pasta to put in my pantry. I have everything I need to help out with the two Chrstmas dinners that our family will be having and for that I'm grateful. All in all, I'm pretty happy with everything that I've been able to put away and accomplish this year....but of course, there's always more that can be done.
How to make beautiful Christmas quick gifts. If you do, I love you fetus year. Stuffing stockings can add up all those little gifts. She want to put in to fill a stocking. It really put a dent in your pocketbook.
I would like to add don't forget about your beverages y'all... The prices on bottled and canned beverages are slowly skyrocketing right before our very eyes. It's looking like it's going to get to the point where it's just not going to be feasible to get what you want. So make sure you stock up on your powdered beverage items and tea bags. Water gets a little boring after a while for a lot of people. If you don't drink Beverages and you just drink water that's cool but for the rest of us definitely think about stocking up things to make your own beverages from your proper pantry.
I my area Black Friday was totally crazy. My daughter works for Hobby Lobby and all 8 registers were slammed with the lines extending all the way back into home decor 😮 I was shocked that it was that busy. Kohls parking lot was completely full and our Walmart was so busy you couldn’t find a shopping cart. I am just so surprised … I really thought it would be slower considering the times we are in. 🤷♀️ Gamma lids are crazy expensive - I hear you! 😮 Great hauls Linda!!! ❤
Nowadays violence has been normalized so people are still out there shopping in the stores. A shooting or two did not seem to deter folks from wanting and getting that Black Friday 20% discount. 🤷🏽♀️ Remember when Black Friday deals were incredible? I noticed that the online discounts weren’t that great. Combine that with inflation and that means less buying. I bought one thing- a bucket of white rice. It was on sale but not by much.
I heard that too about Black Friday. Looks like some people are paying attention. I told our kids not to buy us gifts this year. Everybody is struggling with money these days.
That's a really great haul you have there Linda, a good mixture.👍 What a Loverly gift you received, & can I say what Beautiful handwriting you have Ginger.🤗 TFS LPK, take care & keep really busy everyone. ❤🙂🐶
Try organic beans hun you'll get a better germination from them . I grew some black beans they did so well compared to my cheap pinto beans. So definitely get the organic.
Candy canes good idea I love the cherry is my favorite and I just picked up my tree. You’re right about the gamma lids I bought two and they were 12.99 each I believe and tractor supplies. Great overall haul. I just bought a pressure cooker so I can’t wait to can my beans.
Thank You. Gamma lids are only for food that you are going to use every day. My flour is gamma lid and the rest are not. Gamma lids still allow air in the bucket. Do not put everything in a bucket gamma lid as you want certain things that are not going to be opened every week to stay sealed. My dried pasta is 25 pounds in 5 gallon bucket and I have no plans to open it or use it until the other 150 pounds in my short term and long term food pantry are gone. I have seen a few tests online of the gamma lid and water ran down the twisting part of the lid to get in the bucket. I cannot remember the preppers that tested it.
Gamma lids do seal airtight and water tight when used correctly. I’ve had charcoal in a 5 gallon bucket with a gamma seal lid for two years on my uncovered deck. No water has gotten in. For the air - they are tight. I’ve had oatmeal stay fresh for 2 years - no mylar bags used. They also keep bugs out.
@@hoosierpreppingnurse I am tempted to try it just to see for myself. I noticed that regular lids have a black rubber ring seal but my Gamma lid does not. It was $20 for the food safe 5 gallon bucket with the Gamma lid while I get regular 5 gallon food safe buckets with regular lids at $5 each. Does having the rubber seal on the regular food safe bucket lid keep the water and air out? Does the fact that the Gamma lid does not have the seal have something to do with why other preppers had the Gamma lid leak? Would it be worth spending the extra $20 to run my own tests? I am going to have to do my own research on it.
@@Holly-ys1me the gamma seal should have a rubber ring for the plastic ring that fits down tight on the bucket. Mine is almost translucent on some and black on others. Could be yours is the translucent (it’s hard to identify) or yours is missing. I have gotten them from several different places.
This has nothing nothing nothing to do with prepping but at Aldie they have the caramel Stroop waffles that are just amazing for 299 right now. Set them on the top of your coffee cup in the morning and let the caramel the heat from the coffee warmed the caramel and then eat it and oh my goodness it’s amazing
No I ordered what I needed this year the black Friday shopping just isn't the same anymore plus it's is much more costly these days . Good haul Linda .
Great Haul, Linda! How do you make Indian bread? If you don't already have a video on that, would you consider doing a demo video on how to make it? I'm happy you got my card and used the gift card to treat yourself to your favorite coffee! Enjoy! I need to find that Kale, Pecan Cranberry Salad. Sounds delicious! TFS and I'm happy you survived out there on Black Friday! Stay safe & God bless!
Indian bread is the same thing as fried bread. We just call it bang or Indian bread in my family. Thank you so much for the thoughtful gift and beautifully card.
What a lovely card and gift. How nice of her. Great prep items and ideas in comments. I organized some more in my pantry I went thru and found instant potatoes expired so I dated and moved up to front so they are in my face to use up.
Have you considered turbinado sugar? It is not as processed as white sugar but has a brown sugar flavor. Some cultures stock it as long term food storage. You can purchase it in bricks and break it up as needed. I have been looking at how other cultures store food.
First everyone is budgeting their Christmas this year, and online shopping is popular. In my area before Friday Walmart had "Black FridayDeals" you could order online and then pick it up at the store like a grocery pickup where they brought it out to you
There's no real Black Friday this year, sales have been all month most places. Even the Cyber Monday deals are starting now and it's not Monday 🤣 It's now called Black and Cyber November!
FYI… I was in your neck of the woods today. I was at target in Hixson and fyi… they have spam for 2.99 if anyone eats that. That’s the cheapest I have seen anywhere. It’s at least 3.59 plus anywhere you go. I was surprised
Great haul. I received a $15 gift card to Food City and got 4 packs of instant sweet potatoes .80, 2 cans French style green beans b1g1, 2 cans diced tomatoes .59, 1 pack tortillas, 2 jars turkey gravy 2/3.00, and 32 oz Jfg mayo 3.79. My daughter went to our Walmart late last night and she said the huge boxes of Black Friday items in the center aisles were barely touched. I don't do Black Friday. Never have and never will.
I wonder if they have the regular mustard flavor not necessarily the honey mustard flavor. But I will be looking into getting some of the honey mustard.
I like the Cafe El Morro coffee from Dollar Tree. It's an espresso grind, fairly strong, so you could use a little less. 1.25 for a 6oz. vacuum packed bricks is about the best deal in my area. I'm really stocking up on them whenever they're available.
