    This was so moving, never knew an organ could sound so delicate.

    A fabulous piece of music, composed by a man who supported my favourite football team. Edward Elgar was a Wolverhampton Wanderers FC supporter. Wonderful rendition by a superb musician. Loved it.

    Great music
    This piece is played on Armistice Sunday in London every year
    Remember Europe that the Americans, Canadians and the rest of the British commonwealth saved you from the evil Nazi Germany.
    Don’t forget the Great War also.
    The Canadian provided some of the best soldiers within the Allies,
    Thank you Canada

      I think the British also had a part to play in both wars and fought to liberate Europe because they were never invaded. I may be wrong of course.
      Weren't they the ones who declared war on Germany after Poland was invaded and then fought on alone (with their Commonwealth friends) for 3 years before any Americans showed up in North Africa? yes I think they were.
      There is no 'Armistice Sunday' its called 'Remembrance Sunday' for a reason. Its because we do indeed remember and cherish all those in the UK and Commonwealth who gave their lives in all wars. We also take a 2 minutes silence on Armistice Day (11th hour of the 11th Month) when the whole nation stops and remembers.

    I like "Nimrod" by Edward Elgar on the organ possibly better than on the piano, especially when played on such a large instrument. The introduction provides some very good information. The piece begins at 1:47.

    This Elgar composition does sound great on the organ, maybe better than on any other instrument, and Diane Bish does a brilliant job. 5,000 pipes, now that is some organ!

      Every Year a very big Military Band plays this piece in Londen at Remembarance Day.
      That sounds Fantastic but this version played on organ is also Very Good.

    WONDERFUL SOUND AND PLAYING, BUT A FULL ORCHESTRA CAN PROVIDE A WIDER RANGE OF EMOTION AND EMPHASIS, BECAUSE IT WAS WRITTEN AND SCORED FOR IT, BUT BRAVA.

    Lovely piece and performance, but the recording is awful - there is little dynamic range, and the distortion in the loud passage is grating on the ears.

    This piece really needs to be played with rock steady pulse. That shouldn't be difficult.

    No, no, no, Diane!! This is a soft, gentle eulogy for a dear dead friend.. the registration and relentless barrage of sound was more suited for “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and not Nimrod. I think you have missed the point completely. Sorry,, must be your American training.

    • @ricktomlinson5481
      @ricktomlinson5481 7 лет назад +3

      You know what's F^@%ing boring is your stupid comment ! This piece can get soo slow that it feels like it's going backwards! I have heard too many really bad (painfully slow, bad fingering, poor registrations, you name it! etc.) recordings of this piece! Absolutely NOT too fast. Perfection in every way !

    • @ricktomlinson5481
      @ricktomlinson5481 7 лет назад +4

      I would also suggest you listen to Stephen Buzard's (RUclips) rendition of this piece! Also superb in every way !
