Pretty cool bro, You mentioned better pups and some neck work but I bet you can upgrade that speaker as well and it might just sound amazing! As always, Thanks for the demo bro!! 🎸🎸👍
Any chance for a speaker upgrade? Those small speakers sound bad when cheap. Yamaha, Boss, and Positive Grid have shown that when better quality is used, they can sound really good.
Hey Dan, you should do a video on finishing necks. I haven't really seen any from more notable builders like you and I'm thinking of building a tele from a fretwire kit and it would be cool to know. Happy New Year!
I assume it has a 1/4 inch out to run to an amp or PA. Use your pedals as normal. I could make a show with this guitar some pedals and a PA, no problem.

Dan, I love your spirit: Fun to play. I wonder what's inside? Tear it apart? Heck yeah, LOL. Hard not to be sold on 2-point trem, 24 frets, what look like alnico pickups (at least I couldn't see any magnet strips on the back), and a wazoo load of electronics. The blue tooth sounded pretty good in the video. Thanks for sharing, brother.
Hey Dan, random question, where do you get the templates for your guitar builds, or how do you creat them yourselve? Also, a kind of guide regarding neck, bridge, pickguard and other compatibility issues would be great. This stuff is confusing, but important, for modding as well as full up guitar building. I think this is another big concern, that makes us beginners from getting into modding and building.
Upgrade the pickups, nut, tuners, and speaker. I'm sure you could easily get a better speaker that will fit and sound much better. And if you could wire in a looper, it would be an unstoppable machine.
Awesome review Dan, thanks. This is a pretty good bit of kit. Great for a beginner too at that price...it would save them money on an Amp & FX to start with.
Interesting guitar, Dan. It's definitely got value as a practice rig, or street music. Perhaps a small church meeting, or camp type stuff. Not sure I'm going to spring for it, but it would be fun. My acoustics still work good to practice on.
You actually inspired me to build a similar guitar. I actually integrated a pock rocker mini effect processor into a dean guitar that I customized. I sacrificed the speaker for a headphone Jack.
I think a line of guitars with a decent built in amp/speaker would be great if marketed for playing at a campfire or jamming with other acoustic instruments. ElectroPhonic makes some cool stuff, but they go for closer to a grand.
I don’t, but after taking it apart I do see how that can happen easily. The speaker isn’t mounted very securely. Maybe open it up and see if you can fasten it down better.
@@GunsandGuitars at first I thought it was a blown out speaker but with the volume at around 6-7 it sounds fine. Now I just took everything apart and even with the speaker out of the guitar same problem 😂 it only does it when I use the speaker without the preamp section turned on. Which is annoying because I hate the clean channel of the preamp section. Maybe I'll try putting in a slightly larger speaker, because I've had this issue with other small practice amps (danelectro honeytone), but man it's a tight fit inside this guitar. You're brave to take out all the guts the way you did .
I’ve looked into replacement speakers as well. If you’re daring, you might be able to fit a 3” speaker in there (factory speaker is 2.5”) but it will require some wood removal. I’m looking at just doing a better quality 2.5” speaker though. So far I’ve upgraded the pickups, added locking tubers and graphtech nut, added two more trem springs, and a couple wiring hacks. When I’ve got it back together I’m gonna see if the better pickups make a difference in the sound or if I need to upgrade the speaker too.
Hey, I’m in the process of figuring out how to convert an old tele into an esquire, and I see Dan used dye a lot when colouring guitars which I really like the look of. Does anyone know if I have to do anything to the wood after I take the old paint off and what I do after as a laquer? Thanks!
The only thing you have to do after removing the old paint is making sure that the wood is still good. No unwanted cracks or something. As far as I know Dan uses dyed oil for guitar. So no clearcoat lacquer. Just the wood and some light coat of dye. If you want to paint it with spray cans (I have done that to my guitar) watch some yt videos about how to do that. And what mistakes to avoid. Good luck with your guitar.
Man, I’m checking out that Russian Roulette humbucker guitar they’ve got on their site. I may have to pick one of these up even though I’m a bassist at heart.
That’s a hell of a name for a pickup. That might make a good pedal. Have 5 presets and one random effect, and you click the switch and never know which effect your lead is gonna have on it until you start playing. Ok, that’s a bad idea for a pedal. 🤣

I'm a truck driver, & I think this would be the perfect guitar for taking on the road with me! I would never take one of my decent guitars with me because of the huge temperature changes that happen when I'm in & out of the truck & because it's a small space & is easy to get dings & scratches. I normally either take a really cheap acoustic with me, that sounds bad & has terribly high action, or a cheap mandolin I bought because it doesn't take up much space & at least I have something to strum on, but this thing would be perfect. No amp, & smaller than an acoustic, plus it's inexpensive enough that I wouldn't cry if it got a ding or dent!
Wow, for the price and value it's pretty alright. Has really great potential if modded a bit. But loved the vid glad to hear this guitar and brand in action.
