As long as you let the paint dry well, masking tape will not peel off the paint underneath. Remove the tape before the part you're painting dries or it will peel that off.
I believe that the front wheels should be just a little lose, like a skateboard wheels, so that the bushing rotates on the axle not in the wheel itself. Excellent work so far.
Styrene weld will fix your broken cab part nice solid. It fuses the pieces together and you can find it on eBay. It come a small glass bottle and you apply it with a brush.... there’s many RUclips videos on how to use it
May I suggest you upgrade to ball bearings ASAP the bushings that came in the kit will not last more than a weekend of use with any weight on a trailer
Full-size manufacturers aren't doing much sanding on the edges in hidden parts of the chassis. I don't think you should have to. I would, but I wouldn't be able to do a stock build my first time. I have to mess with everything.
For the future, if you ever get a model with a lost or broken part contact customer service. As long as the kit is current or they have it in stock they will send you the part.

The grease is included but all the paint is extra... all the electrics are extra too

Put a coat for lacquer on top of paint to toughen it and tamiya tape will never harm it.

If you pull the tape off when paint is still wet it won't chip away

You could pit a light source on the left side of the camera as now the truck is bigger its creating a larger shadow
