How to Change Username on Facebook

So I had 2 Facebook pages. I deleted one and wanted to use it's username, why can't I simply recycle it since the original page is deleted?

You have to wait 6 months before you can use the old username

You can only see it in the browser, not the application, for secondary accounts only, not primary
