The mix ratio you only need about: 1/4 tsp of dye and 1 oz of acetone. A good practice is to do light coats, and just keep doing light coats until you achieve the color you want. This also helps it dry faster.
Hey there! Admittedly, this is a little late, and I'm still learning, myself, but a couple things I thought might help for the future: 1) Those brushes were made of synthetic fibers...acetone will melt them. That may explain why you were getting uneven streaks--the bristles may have been clumping together as they began to dissolve on a really small scale. 2) I've actually heard that acetone can warp a disc. You'll want to use less acetone and more water. some don't even add acetone at all.The longer you can leave the dye on, the less the acetone will matter, apparently. I left purple on a disc for five days, and it came out almost black. As I use it, the sun will fade the dye really nicely, but I was surprised at how much a difference the extra few days made--my first few attempts were real cloudy and thin, but I only left it on for a few hours. 3) Depending on what your design allows for, sometimes a good, even coat of vaseline will protect the areas you don't want to get dye on. Question: Did you make any sort of jig to keep the disc in place on the platter? I've heard sometimes people do that to keep from shifting it if they apply too much pressure with the brush. All in all, nice first run!
I heard one packet of dye was good for a much bigger mason jar. But it probably doesnt matter, its more concentrated than how you have it. The package doesnt say how much water or acetone to add?
One of the other videos I watched, the guy said acitone will only soak up a certain amount of the dye, the crumbs of color will just fall to the bottom. He said better to over saturate then under.
Is acetone the one thing to make idye poly work? I tried idye poly for dying and spin dying, no result. I use RitDye but i need very much time to dye and more times dye. I use it without acetone, makes acetone it more powerful? And what happen when acetone color contact the original stamp?

I used to use acetone but now i use denatured alcohol. Its easier on the plastic and blends better.
