Love hearing Stewart and Leah in the background commenting and laughing. Someday hoping Stewart/Stuart?? gets on camera!!!! Merry Christmas. Loved this video.
As always…I am not ‘home alone’ because I celebrate Christmas with Christ ! This year I celebrate that I have 60 years of a personal relationship with Him. That is ‘comfort and joy’ in One… Because New Years Eve and New Years-day in NL is also important I take down my decoration on 2nd january. And straight decorate for the winter and my birthday. I decorate all year long, because decorating is my way of life, my joy to celebrate every season and christian celebration. It is my gift of ‘thank you’ to the Lord.
Stewart...Pot it Up, Pot it Up!! 😁. I take my Christmas down around January 6. This used to put me in a bit of a funk but I now replace it with “ winter” decor and really enjoy that. ❄️🇨🇦🎄
Love, Love this episode. My decorations, including my Tree, remains up until after Epiphany, January 6th. This is a tradition handed down from my German-Irish ancestors
The man who Invented Christmas was a great movie. I really enjoy movies from that era. I then found " The Christmas Candle" and watched it immediately after. What a sweet story if you haven't seen it. Love the movies depicting Christmas from the 1800s
A few years ago, I started using my Christmas Spode as my everyday dishes right after Thanksgiving. This change has brought me much joy. No longer is my Christmas Spode used one or two days per year.
I use my set of mis-matched thrifted red transferware for christmas. I love that it brings in the red without being in-your-face Christmas so I can use it at other times of year as well. It's great with blue for holidays like Independence Day or Labor Day.
Down sized this year, Linda. My middle grand daughter was gifted my Christmas china, Pfaltzgraff farmhouse Christmas. She was delighted and I was proud to have it to share.
Our family gave my husband’s grandmother various pieces of Christmas Spode over the years. When she passed, our Aunt gave the entire set to us. Since then, we have hosted a “Spode Dinner” for family before Christmas. In fact, it was last night. We enjoy reminiscing as we use each piece. One of my favorite pieces is the handled baby cup. Our kids are now in their 30’s and I can remember them sipping from this cup around the Christmas table.
Christmas decorations stay up in my home until AFTER Little Christmas on Jan 6th. THEN I take them down as I please. I don't buy live trees any more because I am 73 and hate putting lights on a real tree. My artificial tree comes WITH beautiful lights already on.
One of my favorite “museum” gift shops is at The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, California. They use many local artisans for some unique and gorgeous items. The Huntington has breathtaking gardens too. 😉
Traditionally, we always took the tree down New Years day and everything looked bare. Several years ago we stopped putting up a tree. Now, I make numerous arrangements from foraged fresh greens, berries, twigs, dried elements plus loads of amaryllis, paperwhites and cyclamens. As they fade I transition into primroses, mini daffodils and muscari.
I do have Spode Christmas china and I love it. I have a very large serving platter, a service for 14 dinner ware, divided veg I dish, casserole, wine glasses, Hiball glasses, tea cups and a star dish. I also have two small Naughty and Nice dishes for nuts or whatever. A couple other misc dishes. Most of mine are all the same pattern and all but one has the green band. I hope I love it forever.
I have Portmeirion 12 days of Christmas. Every year I see other Christmas dishes and think I'd like them more, then I take mine out and fall in love with them all over again!
I had bits & pieces of Spode and gave it to my daughter. Mugs, plates, etc. I have 2 sets of Christmas dishes. Lenox ‘Christmas Greetings” and Wachabacker “Christmas Tree”. I love both of them one for casual and formal.
Merry Christmas to you Linda and your team. Thank you for all that you do. Love and sincere best wishes from Australia. Fiona and John in Australia.🦘😊🙏🪴
I keep my Christmas decor up until January 6th. I am just now growing my Amaryllis, I like when they bloom after Christmas! I usually gift bulbs to a select few longtime friends and ship them with a ceramic planter. I don’t have Spode or any Holiday China but do love to decorate festively with colorful glasses and centerpieces and an advent wreath of some sort.. This year like last year will be a small gathering with one son plus partner but we love it! Affords some one on one conversation and collaboration in the kitchen! Louis Erdrich is a serious author. Always something to contemplate…. I love Ina Garten recipes. Much to consider in this episode! ❤
Linda, I have those kitchen comfort mats and after a few years when they get a few tears in them, I use them as comfort mats in my garden! They work great as I sort of walk along on my knees to weed. I also feel good that I am getting many more years of use from them (as they can be a bit costly).
I love holiday dishes and use Spode Christmas tree .....a true classic.....for Christmas and Johnson Bros Friendly Village....another beautiful classic...... for fall and Thanksgiving. It's so fun to collect and use during the holidays....makes the Sept - Dec months so special. Because we put the tree up Nov 1st ...LOL....I do take down Christmas the week after so on New Years Day the house seems fresh and decorated for the winter months.
you inspire me in all of your decorating ideas and as far as tone on tone color, I am liking chocolate brown and dark browns instead of black . it is a warmer color
Linda, I treasure my Spode Christmas Tree collection. 50 years ago my college girlfriend and I, who were newlyweds, splurged and purchased the coffee mugs at Marshall Fields in Chicago. Throughout my married life, my mom and my husband added to my collection. I ended up with place settings for 12 along with varied serving pieces. I’ve downsized and purged. But, I kept every piece of this pattern. One of my daughter’s in law happily receives gifted items from my stash and we borrow from each other when entertaining. We enjoy it each December. It brings “Comfort & Joy” to us. I so enjoy your newsletter and your video content. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family and your team.
I leave our tree, nativity, and outdoor lights up generally at least until January 6, Epiphany. But prior to Epiphany, I gradually take down a little bit of decor, particularly Santa things and anything that has begun to feel cluttered or sad. We have a great big ball light (clear string lights wrapped around a wire ball we made from chicken wire) outside and we leave that up all winter. Sometimes the tree stays up well into the winter if it is continuing to make us feel cozy. Same with window candles.
I do enjoy some Christmas china and mine as some holly berries on them, I love any kind of dishes. Always looking at dishes everywhere I go. Merry Christmas to you all.
I don’t have Spode but use my mum’s (1960s wedding present) set of Wedgwood white edged and plain light blue dinner service. I love it….it feels very luxurious somehow! Over here in the U.K., we keep our decs up until 12th night, which is 5th January. If you keep them up after that it’s considered bad luck. I’m a minimalist on Christmas decs really and we’ve got our daughter and partner here for Christmas…first time in five years. Can’t wait! Lastly 😂, it was actually American writer Washington Irving’s Christmas stories that influenced Charles Dickens. 🧡💚
Stuart we all get busy with other things but theres still time to plant the bulb! Love the variety of topics that are covered in these types of videos.
In the past I always started taking down decorations on Dec 26th. As much as I love all my Christmas decor, to me when Christmas was over it was over lol but it always bothered my husband that I didnt leave things out until New Years so the last couple years I did that. I think I'm going back to my old way...i just love the cleanliness & uncluttered look of the house when the new year begins!
I have three of those mats in my kitchen, back-savers! This year I remembered to move one of them to my “elfing” station where I wrapped all the gifts.
Merry Xmas thanks for sharing your life. You look great in the pink sweater. I love pink too. Great news my middle son Michael had his first child December 12th omg a sweet baby girl LILY. No words can express our love. Have 5 grandchildren now so blessed.
We are in Helsinki right now waiting for our grandkids to arrive. We’re all taking the night train to Lapland to see Santa. We’re going dog sledding, reindeer sledding, snow mobiling, and will hopefully see the northern lights. We will be back to the USA in time for Christmas. For the holidays, I use white plates with a red and white gingham border. I also use them for Valentine’s Day and July 4. I just change up the accessory colors to make them work for each of these holidays.
Thank you Linda for sharing your Spode Collection. I have picked up 6 pieces this year and will continue to collect more each Christmas season. I just took a large Spode plater of Appetizers to a neighborhood Christmas party, it was so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your tradition.❤
Linda…many years ago my husband bought for me the “ Lenox Winter Greetings”. I have the full set for eight and the beautiful tea pot and the sugar and creamer. Also the serving pieces including the large platter. It brings me so much joy. Merry Christmas to you and your family including Stewart and Lea. Love you all. ❤
I love your Saturday videos the best because you cover so many topics. It makes me feel like I am visiting with a good friend. Although I have admired Spode over the years, I do not have any. I love to celebrate the seasons and holidays but I try to do it in a subtle manner with decor. This year I decided to use my Williams Sonoma snowman plates for the whole month of December, rather than just Christmas Day.
I agree and decided years ago no holiday specific dinnerware for me. It’s lovely but why store it for an entire year. I use white dishes for every occasion and change the rest of the table scape each year which I find more interesting and fun. As a side note …. I’m in my late 70s and I never decorate my trees the same way either. I may use elements from past trees but change them up some how. My creative mind just works that way .
Hi Linda and Stewart The man who invented Christmas is a wonderful movie! I have an artificial tree my decor does not come down until after Little Christmas. I keep up some red things for Valentine’s Day too. Like my red kitchen towels and red lights. After Valentine’s Day the red is put away and out comes green for March and pastels for Easter. I have what I call a Holiday House. Keep your old plastic bins to use for replanting it keeps the counter clean while you re pot. Also good for starting seedlings covered by clear cellophane. I like your hair style today. 🥰🥰🎅🏻🎁🎄🌲☃️❄️
This year I'm having a small Christmas gathering with just two friends. It's going to be a nice laid back intimate get together. I keep all of my Christmas tree and decorations up until Epiphany January 6th (12th Night) or the 12th day of Christmas.
My son and daughter will be here with my 4 grandsons, for dinner on the Saturday before Christmas . I will be spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my sister. We just recently lost our older sister and just feel the need to cuddle up together.
Thank you once again for a beautiful journey through part of Ireland. Wishing you and your loved ones hearts and homes filled with peace and joy. From Australia I look forward to more enjoyable videos in the coming year. Best wishes for 2024.
I received your garden journal yesterday, love it, going to start beginning of the new year. I have my spode christrmas tree china out just before thanksgiving and will use until middle of January. I usually take Christmas decor down just after Christmas day, however now I am going to try to leave up till January 6, is that Epiphany, Love your blue and silver decorations in parlor.
My Christmas china is Royal Worcester's Holly Ribbons. I love it! My favorite piece is a set of candle holders that my mother gave me. They are pretty all year long.
Hi from another Aussie who enjoys your vlogs (esp the home tours). Wishing you, Stuart & Leah a very happy Christmas and look forward to seeing what you have instore for us next year. Xxxx
I cannot believe that I lost my message!!! So, I celebrate Christmas until January 6 which is when I take down my faux tree and decorations except I leave my wonderful Christmas Tree Sp ode dishes that I have been collecting for nearly 50 years up until Valentine's Day. I have started gifting some of it to a cousin who just started collecting it so I have a bit less today than I had in the past. It goes very well with Fiesta dishes which she uses daily so that works out well. I love your suggestions re comfort and joy, and feel as though I am a bit slow this year in the decorating but at least the shopping is done. Thank you, Linda, Stewart and Leia for all your hard work and good cheer not only during these holidays but throughout the year🎄🎄🎄
"What's she going to say, no?" "Stuart you have been bulb shamed." Linda, I have the exact same Spode candy dish, plates with cups & saucers. No to poka dots. Yes to plaid. Love hot pink. Like the chunky gold hoops. Yes to the new xmas organizers. Yes to the Martha Stewart Christmas tree. No to packing it all up immediately. ❤🎉😊
As usual Linda this video is great. Your home is lovely and you look great in your pink sweater. Loved all the things that you shared today. I take our Christmas decorations down on New Years day while our pork and sauerkraut is baking, a Pennsylvania tradition that we have every New Years day since we were children. As my husband & I get older we decorate less & less each year, especially this year since we got a Russian Blue cat in August. She is 18 months old and is very playful. Just love her!
I have a pretty good collection of Spode Christmas Tree! I was gifted every year from my in laws. I definitely need one of those mats for in front of my kitchen sink.
I just loved today’s video. So festive and fun! I have a couple suggestions: one is that you might consider different footwear for daily wear in the house. I found that my knee and back pain were reduced significantly when I stopped wearing slippers all day. The second is that Leia (my apologies if I spelled that wrong) should be miked up. It will be easier to hear her input and her response when you ask her if she agrees. 😂 Merry Christmas to all of you!
Yes definitely Linda I'm glad you're talking about getting up off the floor. As I've told you before that since I've lost all this weight it's easier to move around but I've also got two artificial knees and so I have to practice quite a bit... I deliberately get on the floor and get up and down and up! Lol
I don’t have Christmas china, it’s not a thing for me. But, I have two Royal Doulton mugs dated 1985, Building the Snowman and Into the Forest that were a gift from my husband’s aunt. She was a lovely person, so I do cherish them as a memory of her. They are super cute though, I hope to always have them.
Stewart, gasp! Yes, do give it to mom to provide some loving care.😅
hair looks extra nice today with shorter bangs and love the red sweater (whole outfit really cute)!
Love hearing Stewart and Leah in the background commenting and laughing. Someday hoping Stewart/Stuart?? gets on camera!!!!
Merry Christmas.
Loved this video.

My gosh!! You look extra pretty today, with the red sweater and red lipstick! Always enjoy your videos! 🎄

Thank you!
A few years ago, I started using my Christmas Spode as my everyday dishes right after Thanksgiving. This change has brought me much joy. No longer is my Christmas Spode used one or two days per year.
Cream, brown, taupe, and gold are the monochromatic colors I love!
Thanks for mentioning the Amazon Prime film,"The Man Who Invented Christmas." I watched it tonigh - it was delightful!
I use my set of mis-matched thrifted red transferware for christmas. I love that it brings in the red without being in-your-face Christmas so I can use it at other times of year as well. It's great with blue for holidays like Independence Day or Labor Day.

I love the way you changed the arrangement of the framed butterflies
I used to get teased at work because I dresses very monochromatic! I always loved it, very chic!
Laughing 😂 out loud over Stewart and the Amaryllis bulb , hilarious
I do love Spode and have some pieces. But I really love the Nikko ‘Happy Holidays’ pattern a lot. ❤️🎄
I adore your huge variety of videos covering many topics. Thank you 🎅🏻thank you 🎄thank you. 🎄Merry Christmas. 🎉
Christmas decorations stay up in my home until AFTER Little Christmas on Jan 6th. THEN I take them down as I please. I don't buy live trees any more because I am 73 and hate putting lights on a real tree. My artificial tree comes WITH beautiful lights already on.
I love the way you changed the butterfly grouping in the parlor
Gifted Spode Christmas collection to my daughter in law for a few years. I absolutely love Spode!
One of my favorite “museum” gift shops is at The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, California. They use many local artisans for some unique and gorgeous items. The Huntington has breathtaking gardens too. 😉
Thank you Linda for creating such great content with your team this year and Stewart for the wonderful filming! Merry Christmas! 🎆
Noritake Royal Hunt…love that I can use my Ruby Red depression glass with it!

Love the polka dots! It's very Emma Bridgewater-esque. I like the plaid too. It made me think of Ralph Lauren too.
Thanks for the fun video!
I have a Spode pitcher, thrifted, that I fill with holly from my yard every Christmas season.
I almost always take my Christmas down New Year's Day. I have the day off and have the time.
Christmas china for the win!
I have Spode Christmas tree china, love. And I love your old red sweater, looks very nice on you.
I have Portmeirion 12 days of Christmas. Every year I see other Christmas dishes and think I'd like them more, then I take mine out and fall in love with them all over again!
LENOX WINTERGREETINGS ! This is a pattern I love, it makes me happy!
I have the Lenox Holiday pattern and I too use my china from Thanksgiving thru Christmas.
Hi, Linda. Thank you for your video. ❤ Best wishes.
I had bits & pieces of Spode and gave it to my daughter. Mugs, plates, etc. I have 2 sets of Christmas dishes. Lenox ‘Christmas Greetings” and Wachabacker “Christmas Tree”. I love both of them one for casual and formal.
They have cute Spode Xmas mugs with candy stripe handles
Merry Christmas to you Linda and your team. Thank you for all that you do.
Love and sincere best wishes from Australia.

It's "A Leah Idea!" Sounds like a good name for a segment.
I have Pfaltzgraff Nordic Christmas, have had it for 25 years, it will be passed on to my granddaughter.
Linda, I have those kitchen comfort mats and after a few years when they get a few tears in them, I use them as comfort mats in my garden! They work great as I sort of walk along on my knees to weed. I also feel good that I am getting many more years of use from them (as they can be a bit costly).
I love the scent of patchouli also. Your home is lovely. Have a blessed Christmas ⛄
I have Lenox 'Holiday' China and I love it! Merry CHRISTmas
That’s my experience too about Museum gift stores. I’ve purchased the best gifts from some of these.
Favorite winter colors….winter white
you inspire me in all of your decorating ideas and as far as tone on tone color, I am liking chocolate brown and dark browns instead of black . it is a warmer color
I use ZUM!! I get Soooooooo many compliments on the body spray!!! I also use the laundry soap! ❤
Decoration go bye bye right after Christmas
I like the Spode. I currently have the Pfaltzgraff Winterberry Christmas set.
Maximalist here with Christmas decor. Will continue as long as I am able.
I have the Spode pierced friendship ball.
I am always on the lookout for Spode at the thrift shops.
Great video. I hope we get to see what you bought at Goodwill last episode.
Have no Spode! But I would love some coffee cups/mugs!
I have an 18 place settings of Spode Christmas China with many serving pieces along with your tiered serving piece. I love it.
In the past I always started taking down decorations on Dec 26th. Me too. It’s over and time to clean it up & bring in the New Year. I don’t celebrate my birthday after it’s over so why continue when Cmas is over.
My husband and I did watch that movie. And we loved it!
I have three of those mats in my kitchen, back-savers!
This year I remembered to move one of them to my “elfing” station where I wrapped all the gifts.
Can you show us the decorative loaf pan that was on your kitchen counter
Merry Xmas thanks for sharing your life. You look great in the pink sweater. I love pink too. Great news my middle son Michael had his first child December 12th omg a sweet baby girl LILY. No words can express our love. Have 5 grandchildren now so blessed.

My tiered plate is going to display my aunt's rumballs, cinnamon pecans , thumb prints with sand plum jelly and Russian tea cakes. Merry Christmas

I like how you rearranged the butterflies. It looks great!
Yes!
Love how the vertical stacked butterfly’s look! Great design.
This year I'm having a small Christmas gathering with just two friends. It's going to be a nice laid back intimate get together. I keep all of my Christmas tree and decorations up until Epiphany January 6th (12th Night) or the 12th day of Christmas.

My recent obsession is blue Italian Spode😁💙
I take my decorations the day after Christmas.
Linda, u must read the book called remarkably bright creatures. My best read of the year
I received your garden journal yesterday, love it, going to start beginning of the new year. I have my spode christrmas tree china out just before thanksgiving and will use until middle of January. I usually take Christmas decor down just after Christmas day, however now I am going to try to leave up till January 6, is that Epiphany, Love your blue and silver decorations in parlor.
I collect the same Waechtersbach Christmas China that my mom did and just found a bunch today at my local thrift shop! 😍
My Christmas china is Lenox’s Winter Greetings. I love the bird motif and touch of blue which coordinates with my dining room colors.
I love your suggestions re comfort and joy, and feel as though I am a bit slow this year in the decorating but at least the shopping is done.
Yes, please consider mic’ing Leah and Stewart-even if their volumes are set lower-it would be easier to follow.
Hey Dudes and Birkenstocks saved my feet from hardwood floors.
Merry Christmas to the whole gang! 🎄😎✌🏻
Yes definitely Linda I'm glad you're talking about getting up off the floor. As I've told you before that since I've lost all this weight it's easier to move around but I've also got two artificial knees and so I have to practice quite a bit... I deliberately get on the floor and get up and down and up! Lol
Happy holidays! Just have to say been loving the style and length of your hair. You're always beautiful but really loving the doo😊
I don't have any Spode, but I do have red Transferware that I use at Christmas when I am hosting.
I love the Spode 2023 Collector Plate design rimmed by greenery and cranberries. So pretty and would love THAT design in a whole set! 🙂
I love, love, love the polka dots on the Spode! Hadn't seen that before! My Christmas china is Johnson Brothers "Victorian Christmas".
I have 63 pieces of haviland china from my grandmother and mothers. I also try to use it at Christmas time. Love both your red and pink sweaters
Hi from Annie I love the pink jumper green jeans and belt looks great on you as well, some good storage tips there too.
