    I thank you Lord with ALL my heart that my spirit understands what Piper is saying. You truly own everything in heaven and on earth. Then you walked among men to save us from our sinful nature by healing people and raising the dead. When you say a word it does not come back empty. Forgive these poor souls who make arrogant comments about your existence or sovereignty. Raise them Lord from among the dead, so one day they can also see how lost they are and give you the glory I now give you.

    25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
    26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
    27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

      Yes. What did JESUS himself actually preach?
      In Matthew 28 Jesus says, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
      Go ye therefore, and **teach all nations,** baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
      **Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:** and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
      In Mark, we read that Jesus tells us:
      Go ye into all the world, and **preach the gospel to every creature.**
      He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
      Teach all nations (every creature) what? The gospel.
      Teach all nations (every creature) what? To observe all things whatsoever Jesus himself commanded us.
      This is why Apostle John expressly warns Jesus' people in 2 John, Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the teachings of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the teachings / doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come ANY unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
      For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

    • @AnHebrewChild
      @AnHebrewChild 2 года назад

      Everyone reading the following words, has now officially been warned:
      JESUS: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
      And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
      Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
      And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
      _
      "But so and so said." I'm not interested in what so-and-so said. Whosoever he be, or claims to be... I wouldn't give a penny for his thoughts.
      JESUS is my Teacher. Everyone else is my brother or sister (per JESUS in Matt 23:8). Period.

      kathleen Wharton Come now Kathleen, what John is detailing here he explains with common words and expressions, yet he does it very eloquently. He is just stating that rather than random chance dictating life’s events, it’s God’s sovereign will instead determining them, and that is not a very difficult thing to understand, is it! That should bring you comfort, as it does me, since God is infinitely knowledgeable, and so we can trust that He determines how our days play out to the best outcome, if we pray that way. Just this week, I ended up in the ER getting two stitches in my foot because a glass vase in our bedroom fell and broke a minute before I was to leave for a chiropractic appointment. I believe God had a determined reason for me NOT to go that one day I will understand. Our wonderful Father orders our every step, and I am SO glad! That is not a super intelligent thing to grasp. The Angel of the Lord has been working His ways in the earth other times. I love the concepts that Beautiful Eulogy lays out in their song Emmanuel. But Satan just cannot have known the whole plan and council of God. He knows more than we do. He knows Scripture. But he isnt ceasing and he will not stop walking up down to and from until he is cast away by Jehovah God.

      Lets go even further back. Was it God's will that satan would fall and corrupt the whole earth. The answer is yes. Jesus died in God's mind before the foundation of the world and nothing in this world, even sin, is random. It's all in the plan of God.
      1 Peter 1:18-20 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. buffalo1d “God’s total control and mans responsibility” how can man be responsible for what God made him do? The whole point of moral responsibility is that man truly chooses to do right or wrong. If God preprograms me to sin then how does it even make sense to hold me accountable for my sin? I mean no disrespect. I know there are “calvanists” who hold less radical versions of Calvinism but full blown Calvinism is just silly to me.

    People, this is insane. Stop debating this nonsense. You can defend and justify any position you want with scripture. Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven. Stop using your bible like the pharisees. John 5 verse 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.
    Eternal life is in Jesus, not the understanding of scripture. Read your bible to understand who God has called you to be and how you should walk it out as a Christian who believes and is saved by Grace.

    • @Joyyarns
      @Joyyarns 6 лет назад +2

      What's your point? I agree with you that eternal life is in Jesus. But that doesn't mean we are not to read and understand God's word. 2 Timothy 2:15- Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. The word accurately handling literally mean dissecting.

    I disagree with this, love needs free will and this seems to be against free will. We can’t love god unless it’s out of our own heart (freed by god to love him and called of course) he can control everything, but I don’t think he does control everything. Governing is different from control, and has power over is also different from control. Ps 115:3 :)

      Murderous viruses do not do god’s bidding in the New Testament under a covenant of grace. The thief steals kills and destroys. Jesus said to heal the sick. So Jesus made the sick sick and then healed the sick? God is not against himself, the same way that Jesus said the devil can’t fight himself.
      Also, I think he made the meteorology that would naturally then do it’s stuff he programmed it to, I think for metaphors for how he is:)
      My conclusion is god is sovereign and can do anything, he wants to obey covenant though and hears us when we pray because he gave us the authority over earth remember? (I have the keys to hades etc.) So he can, but he won’t, but for his believers he will do anything that goes with the commands he has spoken to us in the bible. :)

There is a huge difference between God allowing something to happen and God wanting/ willing for something to happen. Sometimes pain is part of God's will as per 1 Peter 4:19. But not all suffering happens because it's the will of God. However, this doesn't change the fact that nothing happens without God's permission.

    • @asthestars4459

      kathleen Wharton Paul did not lie. The Apostle Peter said:
      2 Peter 3:15-16 - And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things HARD to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
      Yes anti-nomians who say we are unable to obey God's commandments are fools who twist Paul's writings to their destruction. The Apostle John said:
      1 John 3:3-10
      And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to TAKE AWAY our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is OF THE DEVIL; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
      But you also misinterpret Paul's writings to your own destruction when you believe Paul ever supported the anti-nomian heresies that come from the mouths of disobedient Christians. Paul said you should keep the law, but that you are justified by faith without the works of the law:
      Romans 13:8-9
      Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
      We aren't saved by keeping the Ten Commandments, but we are saved in order that we may be able to keep them. (Eph. 2:10)
      Titus 2:11-12
      For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
      To be saved is to be saved from bondage, power and guilt of sin, to be conformed to the will of God, to walk with Him in peace and righteousness. It also means going to Heaven in the future and avoiding Hell, the abode of miserable failures for all eternity.
      May Jesus be with you +

    I disagree with this view. Armenians agree that God is totally sovereign. But He is sovereign in the sense that He either causes everything that happens to happen or He ALLOWS everything that happens to happen.
    Would a Calvinist be so kind as to answer this question of mine. If God is totally sovereign in the sense that He determines literally everything that happens then would that not include sin? How on this view is God not ultimately the author of sin?

      Beau H God is the author full stop. What does sin mean? A sin is an act against God, therefore for God to be sinless means that God always does what’s right by God. It’s clear that the presence of sin in the world provides an amazing contrast between the goodness of God and the darkness of sin. God sovereignly wills this to be the case.

      He allowed free beings to sin. Of course he knew it was gonna happen. Doesnt mean it didnt hurt him. But he has perfect ultimate purposes

      Beau H you are totally correct in my view. And I am a calvanist, I hate to call it that because it sounds like a new faith. I am a christian with calvanistic views.
      I think God purposes everything that he allows. I personally would not say: God made it snow BUT of course the bible describes it exactly that way.
      Well after all God is holding together all natural laws at this very moment. Every atom and subatomic particle. Every chemical reaction. Everything is holds together. There is no scientific reason why the laws of nature stay the same. Always and everywhere. Its God actively doing it. So it can be said that he causes the weather for example.
      If God allows something to happen. He deemed it good.
      For example God allows sinners to continue to live in their sin and self worship. And thus it is said that "God hardened them" not actively but he lets it happen.
      Does that make any sense? I hope it does

      God is completely sovereign and in His sovereignty He allows us to make choices which determine the outcome. "Choose today whom you'll worship" was the choice God gave to the Israelites through Joshua. God is not the author of sin but some calvinists would teach that eventually it's God who causes us to do everything whether good or evil and then takes us into account. I love and have been spiritually enriched by John Piper's messages but on this one where he says that God controls even the scrabble and the dices, I differ somewhat. Well, there could be some exceptions where in order to serve some specific purposes of His He might just do that. But it's difficult for me to fathom why God would control every single pieces of dices and scrabbles on earth.

      Beau H just discovered the great conundrum of classical Christian theology. If you don't like the Calvinist approach, take another one. Unfortunately, they all have their own set of problems too.
