They are so right ! Look at who's the most famous right now : Symone, Gigi, Tayce, Bimini. They all look like models. But drag isn't just pretty people. Drag is entertainment first !
When i first went on the gay scene the drag acs where artists like Mrs Shufflewick, The Disappointer Sisters, Dave Dale, The Trolettes, Regina Fong. Lily Savage etc so all about entertainment, comedy and beauty wasn't important nor money. When l see drag race and it seems focused on look and fashion, and needing quite a bit of cash so they outfits look great. I do love the show and l love the transformations but Tia is right the old school drag qieens were equally valued, funny and in most cases dressed on a dime. I am glad i have been lucky to see the evolution of drag over the last 40 years.
This is wonderful. I loved hearing Cheryl tell the crowd that the queens who haven't been on drag race are just as valid....a lot of fans need to figure that out.
You all need to book Cheddar to do more on-camera stuff because she gave you the narrative arch of this documentary and beautiful insights. I hope she spends 2022 booked and blessed!
The UK drag culture is turning into American drag culture. Thats the problem. We are losing our identity and copying the american version. Nothing good about losing ourselves.
Cheryl jokes that she's a "mediocre queen," but there's a reason why she lasted so long on the show and has had great success since, she's so amazing, truly
the drag we experience online and the drag we experience in real life is SO different, and it’s fascinating the way so many legendary and iconic queens are cast aside by the younger generation because they’re not instagram famous. queer history is so important to our queer identities. put respect on the names of these legends!
Drag Race has branded itself as a show about “The Tenacity of the Human Spirit.” It has sprinkles of it sure, but it’s mostly entertainment. Netflix though….kudos this made me fall deeper in love with the UK queens: their humbleness, humanity, respect for themselves, and how much they care for their community and country.
Brent Would is my favourite Drag King on the circuit. They are such an utter dreamboat and so talented too. I wish WOW Presents would commission a Brent Would tv show.
Margate sundowners is my closest bar, and im so thankful for you coming and interviewing local queens and the bar owner, was so good seeing people i know, and im happy for this documentary, im proud of the local community keeping that bar open after the pandemic
Cheddar Gorgeous is such an amazingly articulate, open, honest and humble Queen as well as an incredible ambassador for Drag. All UK queens come across so humble but Cheddar is my favourite 😍
Didn’t realize Tia Kofis real name was Lawrence Chaneys drag name 💀 She kept going “Oh so you’re the new Lawrence” “Lawrence for production head” and I was like why is she campaigning for Lawrence Chaney 😂
that moment with cheddar gorgeous at 16:50 is so spot on and exactly what's wrong with the ever-expanding Drag Race franchise. it makes me sad, i can't even enjoy recent seasons of it like uks3 because it's so hollow and interested in one type of beauty... what the hell happened to drag being a rebellion of all that? Ru Paul needs a reality check
That’s why I like alternatives like Dragula. Drag Race will eventually decline (especially after things like this trying season), but meanwhile, people need to support alternatives to keep other forms of drag in the public consciousness.
YET, now Cheddar Gorgeous is on drag race. Just look at many of the winners on drag race US -- Jinx, Sharon Needles, Yvie Oddly, Willow Pill, Trixie Mattel.... all drag rebels!!
Loved this! Tia looks gorgeous, and I can listen to Tayce talk about literally anything. I really enjoyed Cheddar Gorgeous as well, I had never heard of her before but she had some really interesting things to say. Great documentary!
Really love this documentary! 💖 Love & respect these drag artists so much and it's awesome seeing them on the Netflix YT channel. Wish this documentary was on Netflix too. 🥺💖
Safe spaces for LGBTQ+ is so important and I don't know how I would have ever come out and met people without them. Support them and get off the bloody apps.
I just adore Brent Would and everything he has to say at 21:45 - I love to see him perform, he is such a talented artist, he deserves his own TV Show *nudge nudge wink wink* @Netflix
"Not just drag queens, its drag artists" yesss! And in the UK we have a wealth of drag artists that aren't queens, that don't fit the Drag Race mould, that aren't cis men. Nice to see these artists talking about it! (But really, we need less talking ABOUT the problem, more opportunities. Thanks.)
Thoroughly enjoyed this & as a Canadian living on the other side of that big pond, always enjoy the rawness & ability to tell it like it is. Whether via RPDR platforms bestowed or on a drag performer's own integral output. Canadian Queens could use some of the sheer genuine humbleness of entertaining the masses of fans, whether online or in person.
I've always appreciated those drag artists that are cheeky, sassy, opinionated, and have a unique viewpoint that they want to share with the world. I think we have lost a bit of that here in the US, and I hope that they don't lose that in the UK. Cheddar was SPOT ON.

I think Netflix can afford to create a series following the UK drag scene and give some queens the exposure and money they deserve!!
I’ve seen both blu hydrangea and Cheryl hole when they were on tour in Leeds just before the pandemic. I was also lucky enough to get to meet Cheryl and take a picture with her! They’re both absolutely lovely 💙
Really important documentary, drag is rooted in oppressive history; drag race is NOT ALL glamour and looking pretty, its actually about activism and using the drag art form to challenge power constructs.
Hi everyone, whilst watching this I was reminded of our Danny La Rue & Panty Bliss here in Ireland, there's a great documentary called "The Queen of Ireland" from a few years back. Well worth the watch for anyone interested. Hugs to all.
Seeing Tia Kofi’s makeup get so much better is such a chefs kiss thing. Also seeing drag kings being mentioned is my fav thing.
The whole video was about how looks are the least important thing in drag.

When Netflix shows a more realistic view of Drag than Drag Race
right????? 👍👍👍👍👍
Well, does it really surprise you that a documentary is more realistic than a Reality TV competition?
I honestly never watch drag race i hate it but i love i like to watch its just people being funny yknow. im not into the whole fashion and drama
That’s because Drag Race is a competition and this is a documentary.
