Hi, I use Fimo for cane work as it is, for the most part, firmer than premo (I have only ever used fimo and premo sculpy so those are the only two clays I can compare). I find working with the firmer clay for making canes and then beads does help reduce distortion. I live in the UK so warm/hot days are somewhat limited. As odd as it sounds, my hands are also cold most of the time so I don't warm the clay up too much. You could try popping your cane in the fridge to cool down before using. That way it'll gradually warm up as you use it. I also try to make sure that there isn't much room on my base bead between cane slices. This helps reduce distortion as the cane slice will only move as far as the edge of the next slice. I hope that all makes sense.
The pieces are very nice . I love the colors . 😊
Thank you so much 😊 I love the burgundy clay.
than you for sharing your techniques. im new at polymer clay also and im loving everything im learning. i will be sharing it shortly too!
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😃 Polymer clay is so much fun. I learn something new every time I make a new project!
Nice! I’m gonna try that too, nice tip with the plastic sheet to bevel the piece!
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it and found it useful 😀
Wow amazing!
Thank you 😀
Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😀
how do you stop the design from distorting when you roll out the bead? is my clay too warm? I live in a humid climate...
