Be sure to thread it up and sew on it. Test drive it just like you would a used car. Otherwise, how do you evaluate its usefulness and value? If it works to your satisfaction, great. If the seller says it just needs servicing because of whatever decencies, BEWARE. Good luck.
I'm looking at a two year old Dreamweaver. I'm wondering what they are really worth these days. The dealer wants almost as much as a new machine. Do you think it's worth it?
Check the comparable prices online. If you want to buy it from a local dealer ( with a warranty), it might be worth the extra cost. If there’s a problem with an online purchase, you’ll be an “orphan owner”. Be specific with the dealer about his guarantee. Time, coverage, etc.
Do you know which Brother machines have a Servo motor? I called Brother and they couldn't even tell me the size of their motors on various machines. I am particularly interested in the NQ3600 or NQ3700.
Almost everyone’s electronic machines have servo motors that produce the movement in the feeders as well as the needle bar. There’s barely a discernible difference in the servo motors from brand to brand. I imagine if Radio Shack was still around, most of these servo motors would be in stock and on the shelf. With that in mind, I would wager that the servo motors between those models would be the same and interchangeable. When servicing machines, the apparent differences between brands and models aren’t the servo motors themselves, but the composition of the gears that they drive. Some are nylon, some are metal. I’m not sure if that’s an issue, as they’re not prone to break, so far. Just be sure, if you buy a high end unit, buy it from a trusted dealer that you have a positive history with, and you know they will be there (locally) when you need help fixing your machine. Notice I didn’t say IF, I said WHEN. If you save a couple bucks buying one online and end up having an issue with it, the local dealer might not be too amenable to your plight. If you try his machine in his or her establishment, and use their demonstration and sales pitch that convinces you to buy it, then you buy it online, you’ll find out what the term “online orphan” means. Good luck 🍀
No. Sorry. I’m not able to do that unless the machine is in front of me. If you select the utility stitches on the screen, the stitch length will be a plus minus display on that page. Select a straight stitch and you’ll see it there.
I am having issues with the bobbin thread showing when doing the embroidery , I was told it was the bobbin wasn’t threaded properly I have adjusted the tension of the bobbin do you have any other suggestions I should check
You were given good advice to make sure the bobbin thread is loaded correctly by making sure it slides in the correct position under the bobbin case tension (flat) spring. If you tighten the screw too tight, it will prevent the thread from sliding in place. You might try loosening that bobbin tension screw a little and determining that the bobbin thread is installing properly. Once it slides in place, you can then tighten the screw if needed. Also check your upper thread to make sure it’s feeding smoothly and isn’t hanging up on something and increasing the drag.
The feed dogs are those rows of pointed teeth between the slots in the needle plate under the needle. They feed the fabric. As your needle descends they move from front to back. When your needle begins to penetrate the fabric, they are under the needle plate and move to the front to rise as the needle leaves the fabric and start the cycle again.
@@deborahwindholz8750 generally the hand wheel has to turn a couple times to activate the cam that raises the feed dogs. Rotate your hand wheel by hand after placing the stitch selector on straight stitch and they should pop up.
I just found a preused one I’m gonna go see tomorrow. Thanks for your review.

Does the Vm5200 have the same servo motor?
I’m looking for the maintenance page so I can reset the stitch count. Do you know which buttons to press down to access this screen???
No. Sorry. I’m not able to do that unless the machine is in front of me.

My Dreamweaver does not recognize when full stitch needle plate it on for zig zag stitching or other wide stitches.
Check your owners manual for that type of troubleshooting solution. Also, an online forum of Dreamweaver owners can be a great resource.

Where is the feed dog located

How do I raise and lower the feed dog
Placing the machine in the free motion setting is supposed to automatically lower the feed dogs.
They are in the free motion and I want them up so I can do regular sewing
