This classic program presents the story of Frank Lloyd Wright’s vision of a civic center on the shore of Lake Monona, a project that took nearly 60 years to complete. Filmed extensively at Monona Terrace, as well as Taliesin and Oak Park, the program chronicles the controversy and achievement of Wright’s long career, featuring architects, former apprentices, Wright historian John Holzhueter, Wright archivist Bruce Pfeiffer, and former Madison Mayor Paul Soglin, who presided over construction of the Monona Terrace project.

....What a magnificent building and an equally magnificent architect.

The Monona Terrace, as built, altered by modern building codes, and redesigned to accommodate modern construction materials and products, bears almost no resemblance to what Wright designed.

FLW, designed a church where the parishioners had to face each other so I am not sure how religious he was. What a concept! I wonder if it ever helped.

How is this Frank Lloyd Wrights dream building when it is clearly not his design anymore? Weird notion to be able to ‘Update’ - whatever that means- a design. Ignores Wrights whole concept of scale and space... Business jumping on Wrights popularity bandwagon is all I see

Wright did not supervise the building process of alot of his projects in his later years, he had his apprentices do that. They were trained in his philosophy. So when he past taliesin took over and finished projects and even went on to create others in the style and philosophy of mister Wright..

@@garymoore104, that is true, but very few of Wright’s disciples really have an understanding of his architecture … many simply copy without thinking their buildings through … The Master is dead, his influence is better felt not in buildings that were completed by his fellows, but by the architects that took the organic concepts he pioneered and expanded them into their own work … Schindler, Neutra, Lautner, Harris, Ain, all are benefactors of the FLLW magic

The monogam Terrasse Plan from franki in 1938 was Genius the Center Flow to the water serve the people
The real Building has changed the genius plan over 180 degree to an big fort on water against the city IN DIFFERENT STAGES big and unpersonel
THAT IS THE OPPOSITE OF FRANKIES IDEA
    Shamefully architecture in the result
