Oh, dear, just what I need…someone else new to be in love with!
Honestly probably the best performance I heard of this song! I am just so in love with Olivers voice! It has such a pleasant, interesting, unique timbre! I could listen to him all day!
Then you haven't heard Stephen Pasquale!
@@elisabethnerolk2283 Yes I have. The bridges of Madison County cast recording is one of my most listened to. He is also great of course :)
Wowwww! Oliver is so talented and the high notes are so effortless. It must have been a privilege to be in the room to see him sing that and all the other songs he did.
LOVE THIS!!!!!!! (fits my voice)
Excellent 😊
beautiful!!
Terrific version of this (aside from the band at moments. Jeeze the intrumental part. Yuck)
Tough song to sing. You got to get us right from the start with that acapella opening. If the singer isn't inherently musical enough it can fall real flat and you've lost before you've barely begun.
Then there's that A and the journey getting to it. A little bit of a gap but the A was super solid
The end was a little poppy for my taste but well done.
And then there's that elephant in the room. The legacy of Pasquale. I feel Oliver matched Pasquale's masculine intensity on this song for the most part. (Frankly I don't think anyone could ever outsing Pasquale on this piece Can't be done.)
Very very good.
Musical Theatre songs should be written (and rewritten) for the individual who is singing it. McIntosh suggested that too. Comparing one version to another is reductive I find. Imagine if we applied the same mindset to Shskeapeare productions. I think it's our job as audience members to go in to a show with a clean slate. Think of all the up-and-coming stars who won't be talked about because they're not the originals. But that's just me.😏
There was something in the desert
There was someplace wild and green
And a child in a village I passed through
There are places that I've travelled
And so many things I've seen
And it all fades away but you
I was sliding down a mountain
I was burning in the sun
I was crying with amazement at the view
I was capturing a moment
But when all is said and done,
Well it all fades away but you
It all fades away
It all fades away
It all fades away but you.
I have sailed across the oceans,
Passed the cities and the farms
On a never-ending quest for something new
And the only thing that mattered
Was the four days in your arms
And it all fades away but you
It all fades away
It all fades away
It all fades away but you
Ah
Ah
There is one thing that's eternal
That cannot be torn apart
There is one thing that remains forever true
Past the thinking, past the breathing
Past the beating of my heart
It will all fade away but you
It all fades away
It all fades away
It all fades away but you
It all fades away
It all fades away
It all fades away but you
But you
But you
You
Beautiful man. Beautiful voice. Less than brilliant, repetitious song.
