**NOTIFICATION SQUAD** I would like thank you again for all the questions and the comments. I have read every one of them and I am not lying that your questions and comments motivate me in every way to keep making videos. There are still a lot of places I want to go, things I want to try and of course dishes I want to eat in Japan. There is nothing more exciting than reading a comment saying "I came to Japan because I watched your video" With Best Wishes for Christmas and a Happy New Year.
How to get rid of Chris? Your recent video about the festival dance. Any woman who can dance like that, knows how to drive a manual (stick shift), then when Chris is suitably distracted, long hair pins in the neck.
Thanks a lot for both of you for your kind words! (From a spaniard who loves Japan and UK) Take care and stay safe! And do not forget to visit Granada, not so far from Nerja!
I love your two guy's Smart Ass Attitude towards one another. It means you're quite good friends with one another ......... Now about some business matters perhaps after the New Year !
It´s amazing how Chris has not changed over the years. He actually looks almost the same as when he was a baby playing on the beach. His mother must have been worried about all that facial hair at such a young age 😲👶🏻
The name Christopher comes from the ancient Greek Χριστόφορος (Kristoforos), meaning "Christ-bearing", basically an ancient name for a Christian. Broad is from a nickname "the broad", "the stout", "the broad-shouldered", descriptive names like this were pretty common before surnames were adopted universally. I kind of like the sound of "Chris the broad". Somewhat accurate even 😏
Chris' name means "bearing Christ" and the name originaly comes from greek. Early Christians used it as a metaphorical name, expressing that they carried Christ in their hearts.
You also see it in the writings of one of the earliest Christians, Ignatius of Antioch, around 107 AD, who either called himself or wrote to (can't remember which) "Theophoros," God-bearer.
Actually for the western version of Power Rangers, they kept the Japanese fight scenes but replaced the slice of life portions with scenes with American actors.
The cutaways with Ryotaro and Chris' face over them, and the little banner about war crimes are why I subscribed to this channel. Merry Christmas you lovable rogue xD
Quick FYI on power rangers, it's the American adaptation of super Sentai in Japan, the scenes of the fights in suits and robots were the Japanese scenes with the Japanese actors in the suits, the rest of the story was done in America, completely different story than super Sentai, and power rangers still makes new episodes over 20 years later.
"Have you ever filmed a video in okinawa?" Ah, now i can see the gears were already turning in chris' head! Excited to see Ryotaro show up in the series! Working my way through ryotaro's channel now, so i'll be curious if he's also made an okinawa video since this one, maybe one will come out alongside chris, like chiaki did.
As I’ve been requesting on live stream on Abroad in Japan’s channel, a Karate episode featuring Chris, Natsuki and you would be hilarious, especially in Okinawa or at the Shorinji Temple.
Merry Chrismas gents! Love you guys so much. So many hours of entertainment with you two. I don't know if you have any control over your youtube adds, but believe it or not I had a risotto commercial before the video! 🤣 Quick question though. When are we getting another Ryotaro's shopping channel video?
That is so funny. I might get some sponsorship from Buitoni soon. I am glad that you liked my shopping videos. I promise that I will make one early next year!
This lack of child independence in UK/US is really weird. I'm from Estonia and as kids we always went everywhere. When I went to first grade, my mom walked me to school for couple days to make sure I know the route and that was about it.
Part of it is that all the stuff we can get to that is actually important like a store or school can only be gotten to in a timely sense with a car, at least in the more rural and suburban areas of the States. There are no corner stores or the like within walking distance of each other because of zoning. There is no reliable public transportation because everything is spaced out so much. I grew up in the Philippines where I walked everywhere, but the area was a lot smaller and more compact and I could get anywhere I needed to within 5 miles/8 km. In comparison, the area in the States feels many times larger, where it becomes 25-30 miles/40-48 km just to get to a store or school. Even worse in Texas or Alaska where some people commute 100 miles/160 km or even more to get to any civilization.
When I was a small kid in suburban New Jersey, late 60's, my parents would send me off to the store for cigarettes, half mile (1km) away. My reward was money for a candy bar or comic book. (Richie Rich :0) People aren't different, news, and social media are different, life here is still as safe as it always was.
Yeah mate I'd never send my kid anywhere by themselves especially living in London. Like by the time you're 11-12 in this city at least I think you start being trusted to go to school by yourself (depending on where it is) - but there's so many damn crazy people out there that sending your child anywhere further than the local corner shop could be seen as a risky act. Of course though, sometimes people can't afford to be shepherding around their child 24/7, so some do grow up relatively independent, but in some areas (namely, low income areas) that does hold increased risk of your child being scooped up to get involved in some dodgy shit from a young age. Dunno how it is in the countryside parts of England/UK though, or other cities, but I think that's a valid fear here in London.
I live in a medium-sized town in England, I’d say past the age of ten most parents don’t care if their kids go about on their own. In a big crowded city like London though, I think you’d be crazy to let small children wander around by themselves
Broad is a name whose history is entwined with the ancient Anglo-Saxon tribes of Britain. It was a name for a stout person. The surname Broad is derived from the Old English word brode, which means broad. This in turn is derived from the Old English word brad, which has the same meaning.
Living in Sweden as a child, in the suburbs of a minor town, I also experienced going home alone after school (taking the public bus) and I can agree that the freedom this gives is also one of the best things growing up :)
You two together always remind me of myself and a good friend of mine. The dynamic is very similar, although our relationship is even more savage if you can belive that.
AH! My questions was the last one! I am so happy you answered it! Thank you for the great videos and laughs. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.
After seeing Chris's video on the Tachineputa museum, I looked up the festival and realized I was going to be in Japan at the same time it was happening (this was 2019, so I lucked out in terms of timing). I spent a week in Aomori prefecture and saw the festival in three cities (Nebuta in Aomori city, Neputa in Hirosaki, and Tachineputa in Goshogawara). All of them were phenomenal, but I have to give the nod to Tachineputa as the best of the bunch. Seriously, watching eight-storey-tall floats getting pulled out of a building that looks like a space shuttle hangar is an indescribably amazing sight. It seriously gave me shivers and I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time. If you are ever in Japan in early August, you owe it to yourself to pay a visit. It's absolutely phenomenal.
Ryotaro & Chris aged 10 🤣😂 Totally agree about Hokkaido (it is awesome in Winter) and we've been planning to hit Okinawa for a couple of years but some world wide pandemic got in the way of that.
Saint Christopher (Greek: Ἅγιος Χριστόφορος, Ágios Christóforos) is venerated by several Christian denominations as a martyr killed in the reign of the 3rd-century Roman emperor Decius (reigned 249-251) or alternatively under the emperor Maximinus Daia (reigned 308-313). There appears to be confusion due to the similarity in names "Decius" and "Daia".[3] Churches and monasteries were named after him by the 7th century. His most famous legend tells that he carried a child, who was unknown to him, across a river before the child revealed himself as Christ. Therefore, he is the patron saint of travelers, and small images of him are often worn around the neck, on a bracelet, carried in a pocket, or placed in vehicles by Christians.
For the festival talk at 6 mins in. There is a festival in Toyama where they will just crash two floats into each other. When I went one year, one managed to stay up despite all the crashes so they just invited locals to take it apart by hand or cane. Seemed like good fun, even though at the time I had no idea what was going on for it or the language.
'Ryotaro & Chris visit Romania to have tripe soup , cabbage rolls and palinka' that would be a blast ! Ask Mark Wiens about palinka , they hit him with it at the beginning of every video whether he likes it or not 😂
That's awesome that you grew up watching Kamen Rider. I am loving watching your videos Ryotaro. You weren't the first Japanese person I've watched but compared to them your awesome.
Whenever travel is possible again I'm hoping to get to spend at week or more in Hokkaido, so i'm glad that it gets a glowing reccomendation from the two of you!
6:25 - was Chris talking about Danjiri Matsuri? A friend of mine from Kobe told me about it and that things can get kinda wild with property being damaged and occasionally some people getting hurt as well. Also: Frohe Weihnachten (aka "Merry Christmas" in German)
You guys feel like friends even though weve never met and you know nothing about me or us viewers. Happy holidays and thanks for sharing your life with us.
If Chris wants culture shock, he should come to America. We speak an improved version of English here, that does away with all the superfluous "u"s. It will blow his mind!
When given a choice to end a hundred Chris Broads, Ryotaro of course takes that choice. He's already tried to end a Chris Broad sized Chris Broad multiple times!
The Japanese show Super Sentai (スーパー戦隊シリーズ) was used to make the American Power Ranger show. Since you don't see their faces while fighting they used the super sentai fighting scenes then hired actors and wrote and shot the story elements around the already made Japanese sections.
It is nice detail that both of you were in the same location in Spain.. and that happened before you knew each other. It is like in time machine that you walk in the street saw someone and then maybe 10 years later become friends...
I didn't expect Chris to have a similar answer to my own about growing up. I grew up in Michigan in the US, and while I lived in metro Detroit, we would visit the farm my grandfather grew up in in the middle of nowhere in a tiny Finnish settlement up north (my grandma also came from one, but MUCH farther away...and it was sold, so we couldn't go play there). Anyway it became apparent to me pretty quickly that my peers had no idea what it was like to run around in forests unsupervised and I knew it was a pretty special experience I had. Sucks for everyone else.
I have to agree that the Nebuta festival was one of the best times I had in Japan. The one that was the most "interesting", was the Kanamara Matsuri festival; where else can one see giant phalluses charging down the streets.? Damn you Chris! You make me miss Japan so much.

Straight up, Chris should vlog in Spain! He did a great job in London with Natsuki. Since his presenting skills have gotten so good the channel should go global!
*"How Would I Assassinate Chris?"* I asked the same questions everyday. Probably pushing Chris' pressure points so he'll explode like _Hokuto no Ken?_ xD 3:30 Lol the random things Chris said sometimes
My 3 personal favorite Japanese festivals: 1. Aomori Nebuta Festival, and also the seaside fireworks in the last day evening. Goshogawara Tachi-Nebuta Festival is also VERY awesome, which holds in the same week of Aomori Nebuta. 2. Karatsu Kunchi Festival 3. Akita Kanto Festival Honorable mention: Saga International Balloon Fiesta
Awwww Chris. . You had a similar childhood to me.. Playing in the forest and fields. . . I still haven't been to Okinawa!!! Ryotaro wow similar to me in spending most of your life in other countries. . I think it' makes you a better person . Good luck both of you in this new year. . Continue to make great videos!!!

Additionally there is Saint Christopher who is the patron saint of travelers.
If we translate Chris' full name to Greek we get "Kristoforos Platon"
@@MrWulf81 They literally mentioned Saint Christopher in this video.

Chris carries Family Mart's fried chicken in his heart, not Christ.

Greetings from Spain !! It would be awesome to have you here. Felices fiestas !!!!
What a treat, two of the most handsome Japan YouTtubers :) Merry Christmas xx
Bahahahahaha the editing 🤣 Merry Christmas, Risottoro and Chris!
Always fun to see you both!!! Will wait for your Okinawa adventure, hopefully chris is with you too!!
Straight up, Chris should vlog in Spain! He did a great job in London with Natsuki. Since his presenting skills have gotten so good the channel should go global!
*"How Would I Assassinate Chris?"*
I asked the same questions everyday. Probably pushing Chris' pressure points so he'll explode like _Hokuto no Ken?_ xD
3:30 Lol the random things Chris said sometimes
Hokkaido in the summer and Okinawa in the winter sounds like the perfect way to live in Japan!
Merry Christmas Ryotaro! Would be fun watching you and Chris travel together and experience new cultures! Best wishes for the remainder of the year!
My 3 personal favorite Japanese festivals:
1. Aomori Nebuta Festival, and also the seaside fireworks in the last day evening. Goshogawara Tachi-Nebuta Festival is also VERY awesome, which holds in the same week of Aomori Nebuta.
2. Karatsu Kunchi Festival
3. Akita Kanto Festival
Honorable mention: Saga International Balloon Fiesta
