- Als RC-Modell einer Horten IX sind in der Vergangenheit schon paar Projekte verwirklicht worden, was mich allerdings nicht abhalten konnte, es "from scratch" einmal selbst zu versuchen. Das Modell ist noch nicht fertig. Ein mitlaufender Baubericht entsteht auf www.flugmodellb....
Die Horten IX ist wohl eines der faszinierendsten Flugzeuge, die gegen Ende des zweiten Weltkrieges entwickelt wurden. Das Konzept der Brüder Walter und Reimar Horten war damals der Zeit weit voraus. Angetrieben von der Spezifikation "3x1000" (1000km/h, 1000km Reichweite, 1000kg Nutzlast) des RLM begann eine äußerst ehrgeizige Entwicklung. Eine sehr gute Beschreibung dazu ist bei Wikipedia (de.wikipedia.or...) zu lesen, so dass hier eine Wiederholung unnötig ist.

What a beautiful piece of building work. Should be a great tribute to a great plane, and an outstanding designers who was 60 years ahead of his time.

The green material is XPS, Styrodur® foam from BASF in this case.

this is the only stuff I published here up to now. The modell ist still under work (autumn 2013) and I hope to finish it in spring 2014.

Please, is there a second part to this video? I want to see it being finished and being flown. What an amazing machine the Horten was! How come the Germans where so clever, so advanced?
I intend to build a 1/5th scale model of the Horten 229. I'm using a set of drawings that I found on the internet. Very detailed drawings, very well drawn. I'll probably use fans as you have, but wouldn't it be great to use 2 jet engines.

I have just purchased from Aero Tetris their foam Horton 229. I was going to stick build but this seem a quicker and possibly a stronger build route.

Hatte beim Jungfernflug durch Loch im Rasen einen Fahrwerksbruch mit diversen Kollateralschäden. Seit dem liegt sie in der Werkstatt und wartet auf die Reparatur. Mal sehen, wann ich wieder Lust dazu finde...
