How you going Will. I see you've changed the name of your channel. The straw sales might be the difference maker in arable farming this year. Me and the bloke i work with do fencing. A lot of the recent work has been on Linhope estates. Stotm arwin has kept us busy. Weve only just finished the last of the repairs and new fencing needed, from that. 👍
Was never the biggest fan of the other name and thought this would be easier haha. Yeah the straw money will defo come in handy this year. It did a lot of damage that storm, took some of the sheets off our sheds and blew over a lot of trees.
I made some adjustments to my 5088 to improve the row of straw which leaves it loose and wider to suit the baler. I can show you what I did if you could contact me . Trevor
Was it a big job? Would be something I’d think about doing but we normally only drop about 15-20 acre of barley straw and chop the rest. The baler man isn’t fussed about it, that’s what he tells me haha.
It’s easy to do and needs no permanent alterations. The best way to is to send you a video. I made two small brackets which bolt on to alter the angle of the straw deflector plate. Then remove the fins from the straw spreaders and bolt on small pieces of flat timber or metal. Drill a hole either side of the the originals on the rear hood to bar the adjustable wings into. Once this is done once then it’s only a 5 minute job to set up again. If this is done, it leaves the row as good as as any straw walker machine.
