I have Q8300 too but i have 9500 gt. Id say the recommended gpu for Q8300 is gtx 750 or ti. Higher then gtx 750 is kinda useless. Me myself trying to buy gtx 750.
If you don’t know to plug your monitor into your GRAPHICS card you don’t deserve a PC. Other less obvious things: *Display port or High speed USBC/Display. Better than HDMI *Make use your CABLE is rated for data speed *Adjust display settings in Windows to maximize refresh rate

Did you forget that DP has much less monitors compatible with it than HDMI, so you can only use DP on a small selection of monitors.
Its not a small selection and most monitors have it and it can be used with laptops

plugging the cable onto mb is not the real issue here. if u plug cable into mb it will show as a black screen or no display is outputted
