Love this I’m a first year in mining Engineering..I’m loving it so far hopefully y’all give us some more advice like how to get through it academically, and how was your practicals
Hey Kgaugelo, thank you for the feedback. I will cover more content like this. I’m glad you liked it, and if there’s anything specific you’d like to know do not hesitate to ask. All the best
What subjects do you need in order to become a Mining Engineer, and what Level for each subject do you have to get in order to study mining engineering ?
Science and maths were the key requirements. I needed to have level 6 and above for both. You can check the prospectors in case things have changed. But if you get 6 and above you will be at an advantage
This is the video I've been waiting for... really informative 😩 can't wait to start my first year in mining engineering next year. Any advice since I'm a matric learner
Give it your all, this is your last lap to get to the university. To be honest, university is such an amazing experience it is both life changing and career awakening. I wish you the very best. Also, When in doubt, always ask
Would you advise one to study mining engineering through UNISA when they already have BEngtech in civil engineering and already working in construction ,I wanna switch careers.
Sorry for my late response, I believe that you need to be taught engineering, and recommendable by someone who has been on the field. However, since you are someone who has some experience (even if it’s not in mining) maybe you will be able to comprehend the concept. Then unisa can work, all the very best
It still has the most graduate intake Vs other engineering… with the current economy, things have changed drastically, it may be wise to do your own research to see if there are still as much opportunities as it used to be.
Yes, I would. If a person has already decided that they want to pursue a career in Mining, my recommendation would be to go for a degree. However, if they are not accepted for a degree, they should consider Btech or a diploma. The reasoning is simple, both these qualifications will give an individual an access to the mining industry. And it is easy to move from a diploma to a degree at a later stage.
Please note that salaries are very dependent on the company which you work for and after few years it depends on the experience you have acquired. As for me, I am happy 😃.
Nami I also came trying to find that out. Obviously we know that they differ and we aren't ask u how much you make specifically. We just want an entry level range so that we know the information we find on different websites is as reliable as we think
I was so worried about practicals, I didn’t get any until last minute. And even when I finally get it was through the university. Apply to any mine that you know - one way to do it is to contact graduates who are currently working in mines and ask them about the process to apply in the mines in which they work or provide you with HR details so you can send them an email directly or call to inquire.
Hi zwanda, can we get more videos of this kind, more of your day life at work.

Is mining engineering in high demand in South Africa at the moment?
It still has the most graduate intake Vs other engineering… with the current economy, things have changed drastically, it may be wise to do your own research to see if there are still as much opportunities as it used to be.
Hey would u encourage someone to get a diploma in mining engineering?and if yes Why.

Is mining engineering worthy for future?
For future as in like as a career or as an industry?
Do you guys have any tips on how to get practicals?
