It is a testament to how well written a song is, that the song is not only great when the original artist plays, it but also when it is covered. This proves how great this song is, considering how well respected the song writing of Lennon & McCartney was. George Harrison wrote some of The Beatles' best songs, including this and Here Comes The Sun, Something, Taxman, If I Need Someone and I Me Mine, truly one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
well that is what made the beatles so great they had not one, not two, but three world class song writers and even Ringo wrote a few hits in his solo career. They also innovated so many techniques that became common in rock music.
@scottchapin2323 exactly my point Peter Frampton is an exceptional artist and it is a testament to how well written this song is that he decided to cover it but also, how he was able to put his stamp on the song, the versatility of the song writing as a big part of that, the same with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebels version of Here Comes the Sun
@impudentdomain for a band to have 3 of the greatest song writers in modern history is incredible all 3 have decent vocal ability and are/were also multi instrumentalists, which is another reason The Beatles were so innovative, as they took on instruments like the Sitar and Melotron when no one else in pop music was doing so, and as you said coupled with innovative production like using different recording speeds, using tape backwards, recording in corridors and stairwells to obtain different accoustics, they moved music on so far in a few short years. I genuinely don't think we would have had the amazing music we had in the 70's if it were not for The Beatles.
Clapton's look as he finished that song is so emotional.... And then Dani touches him afterwards.... Just the best concert... I've got the dvd and you forget how many glorious songs George wrote... but they are all there... Simply the best tribute to a musician... Understated and heartfelt.
I have the DVD too and it's amazing. Plus what a line up - also Gary Brooker from Procul Harem on keyboards, Andy Fairweather-Low, Albert Lee, Michael Mann, Jim Keltner, Ray Cooper...... stellar!!!
It’s remarkable how much George’s son looks like his dad. Sal, I LOVE how you let yourself go with your emotions while listening to music. Music Should move us, and your reaction reflects how I felt watching this for the first time.
Loved the song since the first time I heard it on 'The White Album' when it was first released. This version is the BEST I ever heard!! You can hear the tears falling from Clapton's guitar.
I love how close Eric and George stayed even after Eric married George's wife, Patty. What a woman! Dozens of songs were written for her ❣️❣️ 2 talented guitar playing friends coming together to make a beautiful song.
It doesn’t get much better!! Saw Clapton in concert, he is the master! His brotherhood with George was a beautiful thing. He really paid tribute to him here!
There's another version at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where Prince has an outrageously good guitar solo at the end. You'll be blown away, I promise - it's worth listening to this song again just to see that.
On a more personal note many musicians have people they liked and people they didn't get along with but everything I have ever heard about George Harrison is that he was loved by people. He was that good friend that everyone wanted to be with.
Thru their ups/downs George and Clapton remained friends...mates. He slayed it the original recording amongst the 4, and they knew he was genuine and a genius. My fav Beatles track. ❤
@@wen-nz3sk Especially here in this concert, he looks like George did in 1964 with the Beatles. Paul even repeated a comment that George's wife and Dhani's mom, Olivia made about seeing Dhani up there. Something about him looking like young George but everyone else on stage got old. It's ON the video of the concert, towards the end.
@@peterbiggin7193 I was at Wembley Stadium when Elton John and Clapton were on a double bill 1992 . Curtis Stigers and Bonny Raitt were on the bill too. Hate to say it but Clapton was dull as ditch water, Elton was incredible. Ray Cooper was with Clapton and absolutely stole his set!
How tight a performance that was! With that many musicians it could have been a mess, but it wasn't. And those were all George's friends who wanted desperately to be there and to pay tribute to their fallen fellow musician and inspiration. I have the Concert on DVD in impeccable stereo and you couldn't have made a studio recording much better than that was. So tight and so flawless.

Jeff Healy sang this song as well and he played a mean guitar that rivalled Steve Ray Vaughn and Jeff was blind and played his guitar on his lap. Love this song. George Harrison wrote beautiful songs and he is sorely missed. Love your reactions.
That ENTIRE concert for George is incredible. Don’t stop here. Look up the song “Something” done at the concert for George. And “my sweet lord” at that same concert..
YES, PLEASE react to "SOMETHING" from this same "CONCERT FOR GEORGE" You will love that too. Paul starts out playing the ukulele while singing it (he does this at his OWN concerts when he honors George with "Something" ) because George LOVED playing the ukulele and so it was Paul's way of saluting George.
