Yes, Hensaw's the full package - gorgeous, sexy, great at acting with her body - with an incredibly versatile and thrilling voice! The best the UK has ever produced, in my opinion. She certainly held her own in this brilliant cast. I loved them all!

This song is actually amazing...not just because of Henshall's performance...but because the whole song actually heavily references the 30s noir genre of film and how Ferme fatal characters were presented...amazing...

I'm a Madonna's fan and I just loved this. Yes, I prefer Madonna's style. I find it sexier but here there's another standard of what's quality for a performance. This is about singing skills, not about entertainment. So it's silly to compare them.
She is fabulous. WHY are shows built around people with one-sixteenth of her talents?
I don't deny that Ruthie sings this the best! It's hers :) However, I can acknowledge the fact that Madonna did a great job too! Her softer voice reminds me of Marilyn Monroe :)

It's not a Madonna song, it's a Sondheim song. She didn't write it, doesn't own, just sang it once and not very well.
It was written for her by Sondheim. And she didn't just sing it once.

Two different versions, no need to compare, madonnas oscars version was amazing, this was more intimate but no less great.
I saw her last year in "Marguerite" at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London. She was great, but the rest of the show was terrible.

Besides from madonnas version, this one is very good. There are other i have heard that are awful, they lack the intimacy and sensuality that this one and madonnas have.
The tempo is way too fast in this rendition.
There are several wonderful performances of this song-Henshall here, Karen Ziemba on a PBS special, Jane Krakowski, and others and then there is the awful, leaden mess by the supremely untalented Madonna Ciccone in the DickTracy film. Unfortunately she was handed the part by one of her many, many, many, many squeezes, Warren Beatty.
