Watching this, I can’t help but wonder what Paul Dillett could have achieved with a little more confidence on stage and a few weeks in Birmingham with Dorian learning how to train his back properly. He was such an amazing specimen that he could half ass most of the year and still make top 6 at the Olympia in arguably one of the most competitive line-ups in the history of the sport.
This show was so epic and the start of the mass monster phase and even though Shawn Ray and Lee Labrada were top Olympians they got seriously out muscled
Just watched the 1992 final pose down and then this and it just baffles me every time how Dorian put on so much quality size in such a short time with that sort of conditioning. Absolutely fucking amazing.
Yates said he over dieted for 92 cause he wanted to be a heavy weight but be shredded like a light weight. Most of that muscle he put back on was just depleted weight loss from the 92 Olympia. Yates said he made most of his gains in 92 not really in 93, still amazing though.
@@tazz5406 if I remember correctly, he said one of the adjustments he made was noticing from pictures that he was dialed in very early in 92 and ended up just losing muscle Cruising Into the show, So He adjusted his schedule an order to Peak better for the contest. While he maybe gained five or six quality pounds over the year, still very very good, he showed up on stage about 17 pounds heavier.
Shawn and Flex were so good. And I’d never heard of the 7th place Charles Clairmonte until now. He looked freakin insane to me. Flex was super peeled this year. Could’ve won IMO.
Dorian was almost impossible to beat in 93. I think if he came in the way he was about 3 weeks out, no one would beat him ... he was almost as hard but several lbs heavier.

Paul Dillet was the freakiest of them all. Insane genetics for a tall guy. Too bad he had weak back. I think Yates' conditioning was easily the best and let's face it he had the best back ever. Ronnie might have been bigger but Dorian had that "cyborg look". And Flex had very soft legs in comparison. I don't understand why Labrada was in top-6, either. He looked like a little guy there. Beating Levrone and Dillet? What a joke.
This Top 6 should've been, Wheeler 1st, Dorian 2nd, Shawn 3rd, Labrada 4th, Kevin 5th, and the Dillet 6th. Yates obliques was sticking out Shawn and Flex conditioning was on point, Flex's Symatry was just flawless, he should've Won that one.
Paul Dillet would have beat Hadi 2022 and Ramy for 20,21 imo.... Probably the best Top 6 in Olympia history here. Dorian far and away the best here. Only guy close was Jay 2009. And Flex at his very best here in all of 1993. And Levrone actually got a lot better a few years later....he's one of my top 3 ever. Ray always amazing. Labrada way better than his kid
He acted pretty douchey. One example of it, was the Lotus Espirit he drove to the prejudging and making a show of ensuring everyone saw it. If you're going to be that arrogant, you really must be able to back it up with stellar performance. He couldn't.
He was hanging around on the front steps of the auditorium alone that afternoon right after prejudging. Seemed as if he was waiting for a fan to come up and talk to him. Standing 6 feet away from the guy, his size was surreal. In a sea of big fellow competitors and big fans, Paul was gigantic.
Yeah, bodybuilding would've been in a much better state today if they awarded the Sandow to the rightful owner that day, Flex Wheeler. The '93 Olympia was the turning point where they started prioritizing mass and conditioning over Aeshetics,flow,structure,artistry, etc. Absolutely nobody would rather have Dorian's physique over Flex's

If your up on drug usage you’ll understand. I know people that have used 6ml of tren a week for a bodybuilder competition which is a ridiculously, stupid amount. All for a trophy 🏆
I think that was flex's first ever Mr Olympia and look at his physique he had everything size and symmetry that's one of my favorite Flex's physique....for me he was no. 1

Probably the greatest Olympia ever. Dorian had to come in cut from stone to hold off an in form Flex, Shawn and Kev with other solid competition like Paul Dillett who was the size of a house.
