    This is one case that I find the species even more beautiful than the hybrids that have it in their background. the color, the form of the flower, the pattern of the leaves, the sprays of flowers on mature plants, the scent. It's close to being the perfect Phalaenopsis!

    Hello Danni 😊 I must have gotten very lucky and managed to buy a Schilleriana hybrid in my local supermarket 😁 the leaves are beautifully mottled and the flowers are quite small, pink and yellow, it's a beauty! And on top of it, the smell is amazing 😎 thank you for your videos xxxx

    I just got one of these! An 'M606'. I nicknamed him Mr. Bob. This orchid is so beautiful, the pinnacle of any Phalaenopsis species. So far Mr. Bob is doing fine. I don't know if I should repot him though. I want promote him to grow lots of aerial roots.

    Danni, There is another phal with mottled leaves and (in my opinion) a more beautiful display than the schilleriana. The Phalaenopsis Celebensis. It come from my country (Indonesia) around the Celebes Islands area.

    I bought a NOID phal with mottled leaves a few years ago, the flowers are much paler with no fragrance than schilleriana and from Googling it seems it might be a Wiganiae (schilleriana x stuartiana).
    It is quite a lovely orchid, it blooms really nicely and without issues and I love her leafs.

    Just found this video. I really love it because I have both of them. Love them so much. I watch your videos when having time, just want to know how to take care of my orchids better. Because, here, in the USA, the weather is not hot ( there are four seasons) as well as my mother country: Asia. Thank you so much again. Your videos are very helpful.

    Found this video today. Unfortunately no care tip video.
    Got mine in spagnum, changed into big bark chunks, roots grew very well.
    After some time I recognized a white fungus in the pot and repotted her. After that she lost nearly all of her roots in a very short time. Now roots grow very slowly.
    If' yours is still around, can you please make a video about your experiences?

    Hi, what do you mean by “finicky”? I purchased two I think, it was a rescue, I noticed the pattern on the leaves but they were very wrinkled and dehydrated. But no tags for identification. They both had a few roots but not many. I potted them up in bark and sphagnum moss like I do any other orchid. The next day they both looked worse if that was possible! The one the leaves yellowed on that day and was dead very quickly! The other the old spike was still on it. I took it out of its pot and the few roots were very very dry and brittle yet the bark and moss was still a little moist! Very weird! So I moved it to water culture hoping to save it. That was at the end of last summer. It finally pushed out 1 huge root that is about 2 inches long. Then it stalled. So I just last week decided to move it to a more moss than bark mixture and it appears the root is growing and it has 1 new leaf growing up out of the center and the spike is still alive and green. But I guess what I am saying is I have never had an orchid do that kind of a turn for worse like that ever! I’m shocked that one is surviving.

    Hi Danny. Lovely phals. Especially with the moddled (?) leaves, and fragrant, definite plus. I’m beginning to see that when I’ve converted to semi hydro and if my phals was stressed before, they would a harder time to take to clay. I’m thinking to put the rescue ones in bark and moss and let them produce some root growth first. The phals that were strong to begin with seems to adapt in clay easier. All my moms phals are rescue which I try to take on because they were lovely once before. Your experience ??

    Hi! I have been enjoying your videos and learned quite a bit from them (thank you!). I have a few questions for you. Regarding Deciduous/Semi-Deciduous orchids, is it possible to prevent them from going dormant? I have a greenhouse with a fairly consistent environment and am worried that I may be preventing them from doing what they need to do. My other question (for now) is how (if at all) do variables like PH, frequency and quality of water and fertilization, light, heat, humidity, etc. effect the color of orchids from year to year. As I have been learning more, I have been making incremental adjustments and definitely see improvements, but I have noticed some subtle color differences. Nothing extreme, but definitely different (same basic color, but lighter), any ideas?

    Hi Danni... if ever you get the chance to see this comment, I would just like to ask for some advice as my Phal schilleriana’s leaves are losing their mottled patterns and simply turn green. Any ideas why and what ro do to prevent that? Appreciate it.

    Dear Danny!First of al i have to say that i love your video's. They are super usefull and great to watch. I am kind of addicted to them since i watch around ten of them a day at the moment. Haha okay now i have a question for you. I am only just getting started with the orchid hobby and i got my hands on a beautiful dendrobium sensile. The only problem is that i have a hard time finding information about the care for this orchid. Do you have some experience with the dendrobium senile or do you know where i can find some good information about the care for this orchid? Thanks again for your great video's and i hope to see many more in the future!

    Hi Danny, I see your P. Schilleriana has elongated tapering leaves, but the one I ordered has very round and small leaves. The pattern on them is similar to yours though. What do you think may be the problem with my plant? I'd be really grateful if you could help me out. :)

    Hi Danny! Love this type of spotlight - family videos! Is your Schil a 2N or a 4N? This refers to the ploidity of the plant and the bigger it is, the bigger the orchid is.

    I know I should know better but I just now realize, I've been lumping the species phals Stuartiana and Schillerana as the same. I hope I'm not a racist! Lol. I have noticed this (either one, idk) gets mad and dies when I cut the spike to encourage growth elsewhere. "Finicky" is a good description, nothing that would hold up in court. Xoxo Dilly

    I have schilleriana, but is has weird roots. Roots are really dark, but they are firm. They also looks to be flat... I just got it from nursery and it is making new leaf, so it looks healthy. But I'm worried are roots really ok?

    • @HaruOzawa
      @HaruOzawa 6 лет назад +1

      CyaneInk Art Schilleriana have naturally flat, silvery roots! They look really beautiful when they're mounted. From my experience, when their roots go bad they turn a "paper bag" brown color. :)
      Hope this helps!

      Hanna Bingham thanks! It is great to know that my schilleriana is healthy :) Unfortunately I live in area where winters are really dry so I can't have my orchids mounted. I would love to grow them mounted, I really love look of the roots.

      CyaneInk Art Yesss! I live in the Midwest in the US so I totally know the dry air struggle. I grow mostly in semi-hydro, if you grow in clear cups you can see the roots there too! :)

      The true schillerianas here, in the philippines, have small flowers but large displays and have long strappy leaves.

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  6 лет назад +1

      :) as I was saying in the video mine is a seedling, it's very young.

    • @enarisnani2594
      @enarisnani2594 6 лет назад

      Yeah! It's cute too. But I think that it has been cross pollinated with other schillerianas with different traits, not native traits, thus creating this one. I meant to say variety not hybrid, sorry for the misunderstanding.
      But even if it is a young plant, true schillerianas have very long pendat spikes, even if you don't have it in a mount or potted facing downwards. Just based on my schillerianas here.
