"Umbrella" is a song by Rihanna, a singer from Barbados. It was released on March 29, 2007, as the first single from her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad. American rapper Jay-Z is featured in the song and helped write it with producers Tricky Stewart and Kuk Harrell. The-Dream also contributed to the writing.
The song was a big hit around the world, reaching number one in 17 countries like Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and the US. In the UK, "Umbrella" was played a lot on the radio during a time of heavy rain and flooding. It stayed at the top of the UK Singles Chart for 10 weeks in a row, making it one of the longest-running number one songs of that decade. In the US, it was a high-selling digital release and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for seven weeks straight.
