Picked up a Fargo today can't wait for it to arrive and get dialed in. Loved this video and the fact that you fit in some good lifehack/tips. Much love!
I've really enjoyed the comfort and simplicity of my Fargo w 4 panniers on the road. When I've ventured to include bumpy jeep roads, the changes needed are obvious. Thank you for excellent info on set up,including large frame bag . Happy trails to you !😊
Love my 2018 Fargo. I've thought about "replacing" it with something newer but I can't let it go. There is no bike out there as versatile, Maybe the Ritchey Ascent. I've ridden over 6000 kilometers on mine and just completed the Baja Divide. Love it.
Thank you for the very helpful detail regarding your bag selection and details! Very well done. I love my Fargo. I run the Rholoff and Magura four piston hydraulic brakes with the same tires you mentioned, stellar go everywhere, do everything set up!
Lots of good ideas here. Thank you. I love all your bikepacking videos. From my learning, on my own bikepacking setup, I think your advice on where to pack different items is the best part of your videos. I have a second bottle cage on the non-drive-side of my rear stays, and your comment in the video about it making it harder when you lay the bike down really rings true to me. I may even remove mine.
Thanks Henry - really informative and some great ideas. The spokes stored in the seat tube is genius! Been thinking about buying a Fargo so this was very helpful.
Danke für das Setup-Video. Habe selber nen Breezer Radar X Pro. Macht weiter so!! LG
I learned a great tip from your video. I didn't know on the DT Swiss 350 hubs that the cassette could be removed by hand. That is huge for a bike adventurer.
I am glad I saw this video because in another one I suggested you guys to get oval chainring but it looks like you beat me to the punch. Nice set up for the bike. The only thing I would personally try to add or change is the fork. You can choose one with no more than 120mm and one you can lock for the times you don’t need it. Also, try the WTB saddles, they are great and come in a wide variety of ways to make the ride more comfortable to you. 🤙
Henry, thank you, this was so well done like all your videos. I found the bags part very helpful as my partner and I plan our bag setup. Agree with you about the convenience of the harness approach. Would you consider doing a short video about what you pack in each bag? I think viewers would really appreciate it.
Thanks, glad I could help :) I don't know if it would help a lot because the items are still to this day not settled and shifted around.. also Moni and I share lots of the gear, which makes things more tricky.
Hi! Super fan of all your videos! Stunning adventures and incredibles images! After this video, I've rested with one doubt: which is the model of the tent that you used (and use) during your trips? Thank you very much for all your videos. Happy adventures!
Henry, I enjoyed this. I have the Fargo with the wood chipper bars and have found the Salsa dry bag (version pre bleed valve) is too large and too difficult to compress to fit between the bars to my liking. A compression sack with a garbage bag linner has worked best. This is to ask if you feel the sea to summit Big River bag is waterproof and a good option over compression sack + garbage bag liner I have been using? Much appreciated
This is a great and very useful video, thank you! The gearlist mentioned at the end seems to have gone? I'd love to see that, if not. Thanks for the effort of doing such a valuable video!
Hey Henry! Love watching your videos. Thaks for sharing your experience with the bike! I'd be interested to know which navigation app you are using on your trip :) Save travels!
I just picked up a Breezer Thunder a couple months ago. Checks off most of the similar attributes that this Salsa Fargo has. Couldn't pass up the deal as the whole bike was cheaper than a Fargo frame. For now i'll just accumulate gear and enjoy the adventures. I like the idea of a small bungee to secure the top of the water bottle.
Hallo Henry. Nice video. I also own a Fargo. It is what you say it is. My setup is a lot different, as personal as possible. Very important overall, the tubeless fat tires. Surly Extraterrestrial 2.5 Good Pedaling to You.
Lay the wheel on the ground, get your fingers behind the largest cassette cog, and pull. It should take a decent amount of pressure to get it off, but not a huge amount. The cassette, freehub and end cap should all come off together.
Great setup, when my bike breaks a Fargo looks a good choice. May I ask what ferries you used between Greece and Turkey as I cant seem to find any direct routes, Cheers
how much did you compensatie with the stem for the alt handle bars? in cm? I would like a fargo, I am 1m86 with 90 inseam and wonder if I should go L or XL if I go for alt bars
Nice setup. Love the storage idea for spare spokes.
I've broken 1 spoke in 40K miles riding in the last 7 years on a heavily laden bike.
Great setup Henry, thanks for sharing this. Awesome video!
amazing videos Henry, loved your journey and review 🤩
Thanks. Glad the fargo work so well, and your bags set up was nice. Good luck with your journey
Great job, Henry.
Simple, straightforward, practical: helpful!
Thanks!
Very informative and great setup tips! Thanks for sharing.

Ecr?
@@bikealmaks Yeah exactly, I was thinking of the new Surly Ogre too
Many thanks!. Some Teutonic precision and thoroughness on display there.

You're welcome 🙂
I've got the same size/model of Salsa Fargo over here with a SON dynamo as well. Such a great adventure bike, love it!
Loved your bottle cage idea, thanks!

Kiitos!

awesome video.
Thanks Henry...this is on my short list as I hunt for a belt-drive "gravel-tourer"
All in All. Das Fargo ist ein geiles Teil. 👍

@@LucaMontoya it's in the handlebar bag
@@HenryMerk wow didn’t thought it has that much space! Thanks Henry 🥂
thanks for the info very good
Forumslader is good choice.. been running mine for 3.5years now,
Great setup, found a good match with WTB volt saddle.
That is an amazing setup. I am going to be working towards something like this myself. Well done. New follower here. Crow

Very interesting video 👍
Thanks for sharing! I always forget we can fit stuff in the various frame tubes :D No mudguard in front?

Hey Henry! Love watching your videos. Thaks for sharing your experience with the bike!

I'm using the app "Osmand+" for navigation. Thanks for watching 🙂

Real nice set up. Maybe strange question but what pants and short are that, looks good, seems to be comfortable en quickly drying?
Hi Henry, thanks for sharing all these infos. One more question: how did you lubricate the chain while touring?
Thinking if down sizing and moving to this type of set up.
Thanks for the video. Where do you put your tent and your clothes ?
10:11 love the -subtle- Milka flex

Are u planning on cycling thru Iran? Also, what’re you using fir route planning/ navigation: maps/ cyclo comp?
Can you do a quick gear video next? Bike looks cool.
It would be great to see a video about Moni´s setup :)
Did you have problem with reach with the change to the curved flat bar? Do you use the stock fork?
Hallo Henry. Nice video. I also own a Fargo. It is what you say it is. My setup is a lot different, as personal as possible. Very important overall, the tubeless fat tires. Surly Extraterrestrial 2.5 Good Pedaling to You.
To you, too :)
gorgeous bike, do you not feel the need for a suspension fork?
Hello Henry. What is the size of the RD Ranger frame bag , LG or XL, please?

Thanks mate, appreciate it :)
nice.
Did i understand it right that its a carbonfork? Is there mounts on the fork for the bags/bottles?
Great video Henry! Can you explain in more details how you are able to remove the cassette without tools on a DT Swiss 350 rear hub?
Lay the wheel on the ground, get your fingers behind the largest cassette cog, and pull. It should take a decent amount of pressure to get it off, but not a huge amount. The cassette, freehub and end cap should all come off together.
@@HenryMerk Sweet, thanks for the tip!
When shit hits the fan wow that come out of the blue now that was the best for me 😂😂 well explained great video. But yeah that bit was funny 🇬🇧👍
😅
great content tho brother
Hello, Henry. Can you tell me,why hadn't you chosen dropbar? It is less comfortoble for mixed conditions trips?
Great setup, when my bike breaks a Fargo looks a good choice. May I ask what ferries you used between Greece and Turkey as I cant seem to find any direct routes, Cheers
We used the ferry between Rhodos and Fetiye.

Henry, At the end of the video, you mention that you linked a gear list. I looked but I do not see it in the descrption. Are you able to repost it?
hi Henry! Any update for new contents?
