This week's adventure was different! Something we had not experienced before! We were on our way to explore an abandoned mansion in France, we arrived at the building but unfortunately, it seemed completely closed... I was ready to go again and started to pack my bags. BUT at a certain point somebody started yelling behind me in French! I looked and it was a middle-aged man who claimed that he was the owner of the property. He seemed very mad at the beginning but I calmed him down. And after some deep conversations, we could agree that I may film the building if I tell other explorers to stay away.
He told me the full history of the 2 children that lived in this place and passed away from a terrible illness. We talked in his living room until the sun went down. It was a surreal experience, to say the least! We hope you will enjoy this adventure :) Kind regards, Lesley and Jordy!

The beams of the roof are actually in pretty good shape. A fast placement of new shingle roof could save this place. I researched a bit about this place last year... The family was quite wealthy, they owned a property in Paris. I guess they lived in Paris actually but sometimes came here because they were farm owners. This main house which is presented in this video was their residence. The furnishing and various styles are telling a story of very tasteful family which was well educated. I wish all explorers are careful like you bros. As someone who is following urbex for some 7-8 years, it seems to me that it leads to unauthorized entering to mostly owned properties which are heavily vandalized, ransacked, trashed and some completely destroyed. Thanks for all these respectful presentations and in a kind of archiving at least a memory of people and places that once were.

very interesting to read your message. I heard from another video that the owner had been a jeweller , and yes, they had another residence in Paris. I also read that the original owner, the jeweller, had died in World War 1. There is so much history to this place. And so much suffering as well. .

@@steph999 More info: Daniel was Evelyne's father. Daniel actually had a brother but it seems that his father gave his rights to Daniel. That makes sense why her name is written on wall. And about writings on the wardrobe. I think that these are done by Daniel's mother or even father. Something is mentioned about clocks, maybe repairs or something and then some surgeon arraignments and then contains of wardrobe it self.

Oh, thanks so much! I really appreciate all this information. I have grown attached to this family, their life and home. I had previously watched a video (French) of this manoir - my French is so rusty ...🙈🙈🙈. that the father had been a jeweller in Paris (that's what they put at the end of the video). And unfortunately he passed away while fighting in World War 1. I read that the father's son then had to carry on and had the German troops at this home in World War 2. If this is all true, then this home is a part of history and has so much to say, its walls etc... . Maybe you can confirm all this. I don't know their surname...it has writing L' ? On the walls and in previous videos in old newspapers. I feel so much for this house and its family....I can't explain this feeling. There is a lot of pain and suffering here. At school we had to read Le silence de la mer...a most beautiful but sad story. I believe this manoir could have a similar story to tell.....That is why I feel so much for this manoir and its dear people. I hope you can give me some more information. God bless you wherever you are in the world and take care of yourself with this dreadful coronavirus. My greetings to you from Spain 🇪🇦🙋‍♀️😊😷

I would have liked you to spend a little time on the woodwork when it is that spectacular. The lighted candles in the living room were such a nice touch. If you can, thank the new owner and let him know how much your viewers appreciated the house and it's history. So much better when you have the history. Thank you!

I don't see that the house is beyond repair, for the roof almost completely gone the 1st and 2nd floor look pretty sound. The roof rafters and wood roof lathes look to be fairly sound so far . If it had a roof put on the deterioration would stop,/ It wouldn't be cheap but the floors and damaged plaster could be repaired, but left much longer in its present state it will be far too gone. Seeing lit candles in a place like that made me a bit nervous. This guy is a very good narrator, and his choice of music really makes the video enjoyable.

Here are so many really fine antiques left in this once beautiful home. I don’t see how the current owner will be able to restore this, the cost would be prohibitive, you could build a replica from scratch for less than a restoration would cost. I seriously hope he rescues and sells the antiques, from furniture to dishes and medicine bottles. It would be such a shame for these furnishings to be permitted to rot away to dust when so much skill and effort went into the making of each one. The marquetry on some of the bedroom furniture isn’t even warped or lifting. They could have many hundreds of years being loved and used by other families, but only if the owner rescues them soon.
The thing you called a pouff, is also called a hassock, or sometimes in later years, a footstool. When ladies wore big flared skirts, it was easier to sit on one of these and spread the skirts out than try to accommodate hoops, bustles, and fabric to fit nicely on an armchair. The musical instrument is a Tambourine. Congratulations on being the last urbexers team to go in here with permission. Beautiful job as usual...keep safe and healthy.🖤🇨🇦
