1)Seven years ago, the ratio of the ages of Ajith and Ganesh was 5 : 7. If the product of their present ages is 616, find the ratio of their present age. .......sir ee question solve cheyyaraa...
We don't know the present age of Ajith and Ganesh ,so take it as x & y. x-7/y-7 = 5/7 so on cross multiplication we get 7x - 5y = 14 take this as equation no 1. It is given in question that product of x& y = 616 , so we take x = 616/y . Now substitute x value in the equation 1. 7(616/y) - 5y = 14 On simplification we'll get , 5y^2 + 14y - 4312 upon finding roots for this equation you'll get two roots y=-30 & y=28 .since negative root can't be used here we take 28 as y value . Now substitute y value in xy=616 ,you'll get x as 22 .the ratio will be x : y = 22:28 further simply to get ratio as 11:14. So the answer is 11:14 Hope this helps
