I don't believe he grasped the root of Dr. Kuhn's line of questioning, on several points. As usual, human language is a limiting factor in expressing, as well as querying, concepts outside of the current paradigm.

Javadi said the conclusions he draws from recent studies is that "when people use tools such as GPS, they tend to engage less with navigation. Therefore, brain area responsible for navigation is less used, and consequently their brain areas involved in navigation tend to shrink.

Jared is a pleasure to listen to and in my opinion almost certainly correct about the general connection of language and our superiority over the neanderthal.. A SMALL nuance though, we didn't entirely wipe them out of existence as suggested, interbreeding occurred between Homo sapiens and neanderthal, with a net result that roughly two percent of OUR genetics (Averaged) IS neanderthal. Certain Survival advantages are theorized to exist as a result, and a couple disadvantages as well .Thanks.

    DOMESTICATE, v.t.
    1. To make domestic; to retire from the public; to accustom to remain much at home; as, to domesticate ones self.
    2. To make familiar, as if at home.
    3. To accustom to live near the habitations of man; to tame; as, to domesticate wild animals.

I think too much is made of vervet monkey ‘language’, and it is largely anthropomorphising on the part of ethologists of a certain hermeneutic.
They are certainly communicating, but though a bottom-up process that lacks intention, or even conscious awareness, as with other ‘alarm calls’ in the animal kingdom.
No doubt that Jared Diamond is of a similar view, but feel this gets lost on many people when the example is brought up during discussions like these, and in general science writing.

where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

And no one ever brought up the different configurations of brains, e.g., birds who arrange their connections via a "garlic clove" configuration - or the genius of bonobos, or the capabilities of chimps that outpace humans' exponentially. The brain is a city, well functioning or not. We have to understand the complexity of a city to get close to the complexity of a brain.
Consciousness is like a radio station that reaches out to the residents with present informations but also gathered informations.
What people can't imagine is the importance of an electrician fixing the blackout on a building. This individuals in the brain are just a grain with such importance to the functions of particular regions.
And if we know how a city works then you are close to understand a brain.

@@Dion_Mustard there is no mystery on consciousness. It's a property of the brain, just because they haven't found its exact position and appearance, its obvious that its there. It might be a cuticle, membrane, like we have in the ear or sound making muscles for speech.
When we are born we are unconscious, it develops like teeths, hair, nails, until it becomes independent.
Consciousness doesn't make us special, we are still weak and sensitive but through experiences we are aware of survival, danger, and the comfort of life.

@@Dion_Mustard how can consciousness be a concept if consciousness is what makes us aware of all what one can imagine.
Being born in this world unconscious, developing our biological transformation naturally, sensoring every information from the moment of our birth, but not yet consciously, until we first experience, which is the ignition for developing consciousness.
We are only able, to be conscious of what we have on informations but not beyond.
From then on, it's an individual evolving process.
The quantum theory is causing a lot of confusion, our conscious minds need more information to solve the problem.
