I read The Most Beautiful a while ago. I liked Mayte Garcia's memoir!

she is so sweet....The Revolution is touring and singing Prince songs, Shelby J, Judith Hill are all making music and talking about Prince. So is Sheila E, who wrote a special song about she and Prince when they met, and she wrote a chapter in her book about Prince and it was not all flattering about him. It doesn't mean these people did not love and care for him. Prince sometimes closed doors on many people, he had his own issues too. He wasn't perfect and I am a big fan. Leave Mayte alone, she is not hurting anyone, including Prince. There was nothing in her book that was horrible. Give it a rest.
MaryAnn E i believe Sheila E had a conversation with Prince about her chapter on him in her book, I believe the conversation ended in them not talking for a long time. That's over one chapter. Imagine how he would feel about a whole book? Personally, I want to know more about him, but I want facts, not stretched out, twisted or intentionally left out. I also hope that whenever Prince is mentioned, that his estate receives some profit to keep PP running, otherwise that person receives some major side-eye from me.
@@MegaJess83 Prince was a very private person, but at the same time one of the biggest stars on the planet. He didn't want his friends, family, collaborators, or employees talking about him to the public. I remember he was really mad when his dad and older sister went on a television program. Stardom must be really hard to deal with, I'm introverted and it would horrify me to have this happen. Prince spent years inventing his public image, and would not have approved of Mayte's book, notice how it wasn't released until after he died. There must have been NDAs in place. Manuela seems pretty tight-lipped, I respect her for that.

I love the book. But Prince was a monster to her towards the end of their marriage. It taught me that guys can change and you have to be strong and independent once a man does change. Made me happy I didn’t marry Prince, and I love him.

Good for her for telling her story, and for people to be judgemental about it, should just leave her alone. I have read the book twice and I felt sorry for both of them For Mayte, she was so young and held her self up so well.
Got it at library, worth the read.
I liked the book because it does teach that not everything is a Cinderella story. I get the impression Mayte realized late in the game she was just another one of his phases. Maybe all men are like that. Maybe we are all just human and none of us perfect. I like seeing all sides to one truth, because it gives us a fuller picture of Prince. Even with flaws he was awesome, and knowledge and forgiveness is the best medicine. I can't wait to read Sheila E and Tyka's books also. It sounds like Mayte worked hard when she was with Prince, so give the woman a bone. It's work to start a business and write a book and move on. I wish her success and I'm sure Prince would too. She takes nothing away from him. He remains the genius he was.

One would think, the bond wasnt too strong on both ends, mayte was coached to get that money and Prince was in love but didn't Love her. My opinion
I find it so funny how so many of you are hating on her while she's making a lot of money off her book. I wish her much success and I hope her second book sells even more copies than her first.
Why can't she tell her story...its her life too? I can still see there is much love there and she is heartbroken.
I wonder if anyone here has read the book before criticizing it? I've read it and it's done very well. It presents Mayte's life more than Prince's, honestly. It's her story to tell. It's done respectfully and with a lot of love and admiration for Prince and their two children.

People are a mess she isn't a gold digger they didnt have a prenuptial agreement. She could have taken him to the bank. Now his second wife took him to court for spousal support. But yall hate Mayte. I think she needed to tell this story fir her own healing and growth. Prince cant be hurt . He's gone. Personally it makes me understand the situation better. Grief does not always get handled well. She was young and he had childhood trauma issues and religious influences and other women that pulled him in a different direction while he was vulnerable. She was most undoubtably lost for a long while after those years of her life and putting the pieces together. I do t think Prince ever really recovered and sadly his 2nd marriage was no good replacement for what he had with Mayte. Yes he was too old for her at first and he was playing with fire to toy with a young girls heart but I di believed he loved her. He paraded her around and spoke so lovingly of her. Her parents were most definitely pushing her onto his stage but she was a grown woman by the time the romance and marriage heated up. Prince wasnt very grown either. I feel he was emotionally stunted and Mayte was his chance to grow up and old together and have the family he didn't. Sadly it was a tragic story and they couldn't bear the grief together. Most couples that lose a child don't. It was not known then but is known now that the birth defect of Pfeifer is carried by the man's DNA. And the type is not a facial defect but rather a random mutation that just happens sometimes. It was no one's fault. Although they both blamed themselves and had no way to know why it had happened back then. It seems Prince thought it was bad karma and a bad sign of their union. Poor Mayte left alone with her grief while Prince went on being a workaholic and showman without good counsel. I love Prince. I think he was the greatest performer and musician of modern times and I can't see anyone ever topping that. He tapped his heartache to make great music but he was not great at relationships it seems. Alot of genius types aren't. All they know to do is create. I thought Prince and Mayte were stunning and electric together. It may have been the greatest romance ever sold..but they sold me..The songs do tell the fantasy and the story. Sadly there are sad and hurt songs at the end of the rock opera. I listen to Prince's later work and I hear him betray his pretense that he never looked back. Maybe not with relationships but certainly he did in song. Songs like the Sea of everything, June , somewhere here on earth, show a reflective and pensive person reaching into their memories and longings with what feels like sadness that he is unable to repair the breaches he created
Couldn't have said it any better. I loved both of them together. She really tried to help bring them together. You could tell he really did love her no matter what anyone says. It was losing their babies, religious influences from people who should have not interfered in their marriage to other women that knew better he was a married man but still divided their vows. I love Prince but I didn't like how he acted sometimes by hurting Mayte or just the cheating. He undoubtedly knew it was fate but should have never listened to others by asking her to give him an annulment then remarry a different way.
Good synopsis, they both aren't perfect mayte had cheated also, they haf put on a good act for the cameras, he feel out of Love fast, and never looked back as mayte stated they hadn't spoken in several years prior to him passing her and her mother mocked him every chance they got, can't say I blame him for not wanting her back, some things just ain't meant to be the marriage was doomed before it got started, and Prince was a grown man cant anyone make him annulled/divorced mayte that is what he wanted and losing a child doesn't make that happen, more to hear fairytale unfortunately we will never hear his side, which I this point all the lies she has told, Prince couldn't clean it up if he was still here on Earth it's apparent their spiritual union as he called it (marriage contract) bond wasnt as strong as the world was led to believe. Another lie she has told her second pregnancy was a molar pregnancy it carries no fetus it mimics a pregnancy, it's a tumor and their is no sex to determine with this pregnancy, it's all fluids from the woman
Mayte has been a great comfort to most of Prince's fans. We have been left with unexplained and unanswered questions to his death. It's been over a year. And NObody says anything, were just supposed to accept that. I don't believe his death was accidental. We loved Mayte & Prince together. He told all of us, she was his soul mate and wife and proud of it. when he was so happy and humbled. I never seem him like that before. He sure didn't talk to us about Mani, did he? What about her, nobody says anything about her coming between Mayte and Prince She has 2 daughters now, how would she like if one of them ended up like Mayte losing a child and her marriage and some one was always around interfering. If Prince would of known how much Mayte still loved him, he be with us. What about Judith Hill and Kirk Johnson, they need to talk. Why would anybody hate Mayte? The Mayte haters are the ones disrespecting Prince.
Take a listen to "The Greatest Romance That's Ever Been Sold", I suspect that it's partially about Mayte.

There is a lot of stuff prince would not have allowed if he were alive why they never pursued any of it while he was alive his death for many of them seem to be relief for many of them cause he was so controlling and powerful.

It's called honor... she was one of his wives and if she didn't publish her book when he was alive then she shouldn't be doing it now. There is no question others are making money off him but she is going beyond that. She's using her marriage to Prince, which was almost 20 years ago, to launch a whole new career for herself. Creating her own brand called 'Mayte' and riding on his coat tails to do it. We've all had relationships in the past and moved on... what gives her the right to go way back in time and pull up BS from her years with Prince. Remember....he was married to another woman and you don't see her on every talk show selling books, making t-shirts with her picture on it and so on. Prince would kick her sorry ass off the planet if he could see this crap.

Only a person interested in someone else’s money would say something like that because prince doesn’t owe her any money, much less to support her adoptive daughter financially because he sure ain’t that girls father. On Hollywood exes she talked crap about how prince wanted kids and says how she wants to get pregnant with a man she’s in love with and she was at the doctor to check how her eggs are doing. To put all the blame on prince genetic problem is wrong because look how she turned out. She can’t have kids, that’s why she ended up adopting, but yet people don’t think it’s wrong how she writes in the book that it’s prince’s fault that they couldn’t have a baby and isn’t here to defend himself. Why does Prince ask a 16 year old for her phone number and he is 30+ years old????? Why wouldn't he talk to her parents first? Why wouldn't her parents stepped in? If it truly is a business relationship he would have done this.

omg, how old are you? seriously? She knew Prince for nine years, she was married to him for 4. Prince could not come to term with losing 2 children. She was the only woman he chose to have his children....Mayte did not get lawyers and try to sue the hell out of Prince and get money out of him, like the second wife did. Mayte ended up with the home in Spain and many of the belongings in that house which contained Princes stuff. After nearly 15 years of holding on to it, she decided to just sell his stuff. It was not healthy for her to hold on to it. She and Prince reconciled in Vegas but there was really no reason for them to stay in touch, they moved on. Stop the hate really, it's not cool and many of the things you are saying about her are just twisted.

You are setting a contradictory example of Prince's legacy.......in reading this, it makes people think that Prince fans are hateful, jealous people. Surely that isn't what he intends his Purple family to do but if you claim to be a part of his Purple family, then perhaps be loving and kind and, if you can't be, say nothing at all. Prince wasn't a saint and he wasn't perfect like nobody is.He said things and he did things and sometimes what he said wasn't what he did. You are right negative publicity draws attention too, but she already have . At least people can say their stories and their opinion,thoughts for free. Some people feel different about her not the way you do. You have to take it the way it is.
I don't have any feeling about her one way or another. I don't know her. But, I've read her book and it's a heartwarming story about a young girl becoming a woman, a mother, and a wife...and her experience in the entertainment industry, traveling, and the tragic loss of her children. It's not a "tell all" book about Prince. And, no one said he is a Saint. I'm simply reminding you that if you truly want to be a person in defense of his legacy, then do what he would recommend that you do. He would say to take the high road, stop trolling, and be productive by spreading love and peace in the world. Carry on....

Prince's family knows of the book and has approved of it. Tyka knows the book has been written and they have no problem with it. It doesn't say anything that wouldn't be loving and kind about their relationship. Again, go read it.

Prince put a stop to her writing a book. Only $1.00 per book sold is going to her rescue. If all the profits would go to her rescue that would look better for her. But she isn't doing that. She is making a profit from Prince's death. Shame on her.
