Agreed 100%. Sucks the energy in no time flat. The flip side it is bad too. Get a plate down below 20 degrees or lower and they will pull the heat from your core faster than the body can replace it. Padding is your only friend then.
If youre in very cold weather, wearing qore plate between you and your armor, your body heat will keep the water from freezing. Canteens and camelbacks can freeze
I'm a big guy, 6'5, 250lbs and I run a sub-normal body temp (96.5°) which means that, as the temperature drops, I'm getting comfortable about the time everyone else is grabbing sweatshirts and jackets. It also means that, as the temp rises, I'm sucking wind when everyone else is finally warm enough. So... Having something to keep the air flowing under my tac vest/carrier is godsend. Anything at all that helps even a little is big to us "polar bear" types.
I do Security and those Qore Ice plates saved my butt this past summer when i was working in 115 degree heat. Slipped it into my soft armor carrier and it felt as good as sitting in a fridge on a hot day for at least 5 or 6 hours of my shift.. I will never go back to suffering hot days without having mine.
Karl, Chad, How about a video involving combat shooting while wearing cold weather gear? Large jackets, gloved hands etc.. couldn't help but notice all the ice and cold temps there on the hill. Not all self defense or combat situations occur when its sunny and warm😉
Theres a product called “cool shirt” its a shirt with tubing sewed into it, its used mostly by nascar and racers. They even have an icepack pump combo that plugs into it. But i was thinking a hand pump with a heat sink might work too.
There's a full body suit like that as well, with an external pumping unit you wear on your belt, eod techs use it in those big bomb suits, ive seen russian versions as well being used by russian sapper crews in syria.
I'm glad the description includes a disclaimer that it's cold as karl's death-glare here in the US when this came out. It's cool to see Qore is still working on stuff! Heat stoke is no joke, can't imagine how bad it would be with full military kit.

Good information Karl I don't remember the manufacturer but we have hoses clamped to the A/C vents in our patrol vehicles then under our armor, works well.
Yeah as an ex LEO, I wished these options were around when I was on duty, many times while in the patrol vehicles, we would use vaccum hoses to put over the air vents and shove into our vest.
This is gold content karl, can you do an episode about if there are load bearing enhancing gear to make running around with all that weight easier on the joints? I know the crye stkks claims to help with weight distribution, maybe there are like knee or back braces that can be worn too, idk
The inflatable does it come with a patch kit i guess i'm asking how robust is it in the field i would like to send something like that to my buddy overseas
I bet it would pop if you took a hard fall on it with the gear on but who knows maybe it's strong or if it had like an overpressure valve that would help a lot
Hi guys, the Bluhalo is made from a double layer of super strong material, definitely won’t pop! Here’s a vid I made to demonstrate how strong it is, thanks for the comments! ruclips.net/video/xzPFAy0kKWg/видео.html
Thermocouple driven pump: the hotter it is under your gear, the faster the pump drives the coolant to the exterior panel for venting heat. Hey, it'll only add a dozen more pounds to the load, and of course, the antifreeze is toxic when the armor is penetrated, but what's a few development wrinkles to the technocrats? ;-)
i need some serious cooling, im always overheating. i gotta be in my underwear like 80% of the year even in calm washington state because its always just so hot. maybe i should just move to a colder place.
Hey Karl, question for you. I live up in Montana and we're currently experiencing -15°F. Have a rifle that has always been very reliable. I took it out for the first time in this kind of weather and I continuously had light primer strikes with failure to fire. Any advice on cold weather guns?
I’ll second what Karl wrote. Perhaps you already know/do this, but check your firing pin channel. I’ve discovered the hard way (and not in nice circumstances) that occasionally you need to clean that firing pin channel out. It can get gummed up from carbon and solvent, and the cold weather slows the firing pin enough to cause light primer strikes.
Lol! Yes you can. Also, the hose can be cut to just have it super short and the pump comes with a Velcro patch if you want to keep it in a pocket or velcroed to the side of the vest. Lots of options!
I was wondering if you are still using the Blackhawk knife on your gear? I looked it up and it seems like it is out of production and unavailable is there something else that you would recommend.?
127 degrees and a full kit is no joke.

Neither is jacking off in a porta-potty behind the hooch in that same heat. Real warriors always complete their mission though 👍🏻
@@matthaft2048 Yup agreed
I drill holes in my body armor to let air flow through.
Now that is funny

Just like face masks! 😷 The holes make it easier to breathe! 😆
Ingenious
you can put hot water in a Q plate as well as freeze it..works nicely
stays warm longer than youd think.
Its also mentioned that it can be used with hot water.
If youre in very cold weather, wearing qore plate between you and your armor, your body heat will keep the water from freezing. Canteens and camelbacks can freeze

It lasts 5-6 hours? Figured the ice in hot weather would only last 1 hour.

He discussed this in his last tactical tuesday livestream, the company wanted him to put out the video even though it was winter.
@@joshuamasterson7677 Yes, but the cold weather stuff is also a good idea for another video.

Changes to a lighter oil, like Rem Oil. THe gun needs to be Clean, but well lubricated with a fluid that doesn't gum up when cold.
