Great video mate. Im actually watching this while on a train to a small pub tournament. Would love to see some kind of a "darts setup tour" video someday!
Cracking stuff bud. Good luck and credit to you for competing. Ha the darts setup is not particularly exciting. A couple of tripods with lights for the cameras and I am away. I have an audio mic connected to one of the phones and that’s it really oh and the board on a tripod. Would prefer on a wall but can’t at present. Cheers and good luck today. Enjoy it.
I started in February, and I’m up to a 52 avg - at home! I took the plunge and entered my first tournament and wow, I was way over my head. I discovered my arm doesn’t feel as ‘free’ when I’m playing under pressure. And my doubles need work. I won more legs than I lost though, so the plunge was great for my confidence.
Congratulations on that progress mate, outstanding stuff and for competing. Keep it up, you have lots to work on and sound like you have the perseverance needed. Keep me updated with your progress.
124 out never start on 19s because you basically have to hit a triple in your first dart to guarantee a dart at a double, if you start on 20s and miss leaves 104 which is T18 bull, Similar thing for 121. If your on 99 for example its the opposite you want to start on 19s instead of 20s as the ending positioning will be better
G'day just a tip for your warm up throws, when your first start throwing just throw and don't aim at anything, well hit the board obviously!! but this will loosen your arm up and it's pretty much to get a good rythym going. Whatever time you can spare but at least 5min 👍. You can use this info or leave it but hopefully you'll get something out of it. Keep up the practice and play that dartbot a bit more, this will bring the pressure part in and you'll throw much better. Goodluck Samson
@SamsonDoesDarts180 I did also notice that some of your throws come from more central under your chin, and then more to the side of your cheek for the worser darts. It's just an observation mate that's all. Could be just my eyes too 😂. You will get there 👍
I'm struggling around 45 avg I started nearly 3 months ago and I'm seeing myself in your videos. We'll improve ourselves together in these videos. I'm practicing with your awesome video. 😊
Something that helps me with frustration is if I throw at 20 and hit with the first dart either 20 or t20, I stay there for my second, if I then miss my second at 20, I will then throw my last dart at 19. Going to the beginning if I miss my first dart at 20, second 1 go to 19's and stay for the last one. this way I know I wont hit 26 (potentially I could hit lower but personally hitting 26 is more frustrating and it kinda just resets me doing this like little routine) I find hitting the t19 after the miss happens more often than I think and just snaps me out of that defeated mindset of 'damn I just hit 1 or 5 I have to hit the next two 20's or I hit 20 then 1, I really need to nail this last dart or it could be 26' this is just a little thing I do, not sure if its good for anyone's game or scoring though :)
Thanks for sharing your routine! I like the idea of switching to 19’s after a miss at 20-it definitely helps avoid that dreaded 26 and keeps the momentum going. Everyone’s got their own little tricks, and this one sounds like it really works for you. Appreciate the tip! 🎯
Regarding the last dart sometimes going off, make sure you keep your serving hand in the same position regardless of dart 1,2 or 3, almost pretend like you are holding another dart on the last dart, keep arm tight to your hip and release 3rd dart as it is the penultimate dart, rather than the last.
Interesting. I had not thought about this before. I need to check my own videos to see if I do this. When I started I held my serving hand above hip and dropped it after getting similar advice but don’t want to slip into bad habits again. Cheers!
@@SamsonDoesDarts180 Leave the serving hand where it is comfortable, logically, if you keep it around a natural height where your arm length reaches, touching up against your hip and just maintain its position with all darts. Sometimes, if you move your serving arm, it can unbalance you or sway your body causing you to rotate and sometimes aim slightly off straight. I am no coach, just a 60ish average player who learnt allot of things the hard way, but always worth keeping in mind :)
try and reduce your negative thoughts, in first 3 mins you came up with excuses like being too warm. I practice in 32 to 40 degrees in Spain, I look at that as a positive, if I can do well in them temps I can do even better in nicely air conditioned darts venue. Talk yourself up instead of talking yourself down. It will work
Ah man, you are right. I do this all of the time and in life too often. I am trying to work on that because I know I will play better when positive. Cheers for the message
Keep going mate, I’d also highly recommend if you can to play in pub league I started last week and I know it helped me massively because of the nerves involved and you get some real life game experience.
Thanks mate. I feel a while off that though. My darts aren't great but more importantly, I don't think I know my way round checkouts like I should. I spend half the time working out what I need and I want to make it a little more automatic. I need to practice that more!
Just pulled of a personal best dart bot 5 best of 5 won 3-2 with 49.50 3DA checkout 23.08% highest finish 59 highest score 100 best was 21 dart leg worst was 30 dart leg ,got 4 x 100+ 6 x 80+ 4 x 60+ 14 x 40+
Hands up I watched to the end lol 😂😂 Don't be so hard on yourself mate , dart bot is ruthless weather your scoring low or high . It's a great practise but doesn't replicate what can happen in a proper game (human errors) I learnt more by playing a friend over WhatsApp before moving onto playing strangers on line . Must say I am more than holding my own on line despite having a 45 average. My advice would be more actual matches , incorporating your double n check out practise for 20 mins before u start playing . But as always mate what do I know lol 😂😂😂
This is the first time I've seen you, so don't know how far along your darting journey you are,, but some darting days are just not as good as others. In time you will see your average going up. As has been said,, playing someone else online or down the pub is totally different from playing at home.
@@SamsonDoesDarts180 well I started playing about 14 years ago when I was 40 at home for about 6 months, then found myself in my local pub playing one the their teams players,, I did okay, he asked me to play for them the following season, and I've played for that team ever since. What I did find though was I improved reasonably quickly to around a 65 average,, which is okay for a normal pub league,,, but no matter how much practice I put in I never improved on that. I think once you reach a certain age you just can't get any better,, as in all sports really. Everyone has their own natural ability to reach, and I reached mine. One tip I will give, try and play people better than you,,and if you can join a local team go for it,, it's a great night out.
To be honest, talking and interupting the play all the time does not make things easier. I admire the effort of the videos and comfortint to see sometimes that other struggle as well in this ”love hate sport”. Keep the practise going and focus on filming your own throw and analyze it from time to time. And dont forget to just have fun aswell!
I agree with this. If I’m practicing with someone I tell them I can’t talk or listen when I’m throwing 😅 because I can’t concentrate. You’ll rarely be at your best while on camera.
Tried the same here..got 54.99.. im happy whit that stuck around 50-60avg for 2 years..but suddenly a match around 70 and next back on the regular hmm.takes time but you get there
