To the wife: Look honey, I just got this bike and it was only US $10,999 ..... Plus pedals, new helmet, spare tires ... Isn't that a bargain? .... a couple of months ago I blew part of the "new car funds" and got home with not 1 but 2 Santa Cruz bikes (a Nomad 5 and a Bullit) :O .... if my wife had the slightest clue how much I paid.... :O ...... All I said was that I got over a $1000 discount .... part of which went for ... new helmet, spare tires, pedals, chain ring..... etc etc etc ... :O
My wife: Is that a bike part again?? Me: oh, that was cheap and on sale .... (quietly sneaking the $600 brake upgrade into my office ... hiding the new dropper post and Garmin box under other packages .... )
Hell yeah! We usually say just a few more and we'll pack up! And usually within a couple laps somebody just calls it at the bottom and thats that. No "one more"
I've had my 1st budget hardtail for a year now & have been learning from GMBN videos. A few days ago I went to my 1st bike park to hit some whoops & a lot of poo came out.. I nearly fell off several times in the beginner section. Dropping in is terrifying
I don't think other MTBers ever wash their bikes. Everyone thinks my bike is new because I wash t every week and lube the chain etc. I think some riders believe dirt on their bike gives them some kind of credibility. Coming from a motocross racing background, dirt on your bike just means you don't do regular maintenance.
I do actually like washing my bike at the end of a ride! It's a good time to remind myself how much fun it was and that it means I'm not a fair weather rider. Although it can be challenging when the mud has frozen on the bike...
I never knew about the last run. but I have also never made it to a bike park yet. my local forestry trail is 10km and our local rides tend to range from 8 - 14 miles so we refer to it as a lap or a loop.
I must admit that I do spend a lot of time looking at my ‘next bike’ but it seems to change like every week! I also wouldn’t be able to fund a next one for at least a few years 😩
I am really happy the rainy season (5+ months) is over. I had a "ride every day" challenge going on for the last few months and the every day bike washing was getting on my nerves ...... 1 hour ride, 15+ minutes cleanup. I finally got the "chain cleaner gimmick" that turned out to be a life saver ... ahm ... a chain/drive-chain saver .... and LOL .... never say LAST RUN .... use "One more" .... then just call it a day after :)
I teach English for a living and love accents. Blake's "full Africa" accent is one of my favorites. Also, I honestly do love riding in the rain. In HARD rain. It's tons of fun.
Yeah, you know someone is truly hurt when they admit that they are in real pain after a crash. I think this is one we even do to ourselves: have a crash and immediately try to spring up and tell ourselves, "I'm okay, I'm fine. Wow, yeah, all good". I know this from finally having a crash where, as I was still sliding along the rocky ground I immediately thought, "oh man, that really hurt. That was bad, I f...ked up". When I stopped I just lay my head down and groaned. This was followed by a car ride to the emergency room to discover two torn knee ligaments, cracked ribs, a cracked wrist and sprained shoulder .... and a year off the bike.
I have been pushing myself to get faster over this past year which means I find myself riding… ALOT! And yea you pretty much nailed it with this one mate😂😂😂💯🔥
I just got a video idea for you. You should go for another ride with Seth(Berm Peak) but instead of going to America or somewhere, take him to revolution bike park and dyfi etc.🔥🔥
Sometimes I really do not like to climb long and step hills, and l say to my friends " Yeah yeah bring it on another time" while my legs are burning like 🔥
Hilarious. Something me and a buddy didn't tell each other, cuz we didn't know...some trails are scarier than bears. We were going down one on Three Blind Mice, in B.C., when some women riders warned us of a big bear on the trail. I said to my buddy, a former first nation chief, you're husky, you're not afraid of bears right? So keep following the trail? Nope, not afraid of bears he said. Adding, but let's follow the ladies down Drops A Lot. The ladies were better bikers than us, and the trail gnarled than a bear. End result, we got Dropped alot. I broke my ass, he bashed his leg so bad he couldn't ride for six months. We should each have said, "I'm afraid of that trail, even if the ladies went that way. Let's take the bear on."
I’ve been bitten by ‘last run’ before! Twice. Both at BPW. Once I’d already said I was done and talked into ‘one last run’ - headfirst into a tree. The other time, broke my wrist!
Yeah, I’m one of them too. I MTB for solace, exercise, Doberman dog fitness, and to decompress from husbandhood/parenthood. I don’t know all the specifics nor mechanics of my Trek Marlin 7. However, I do get it tuned at FreeFlite, oil the chain, clean after muddy rides and can change a tire. Other than that, I could care less about the other stuff.
You learn, quickly. Especially when being able to quickly fix something (and being able to go on that ride) vs having to bring it to your bike shop and missing the whole day.
I had a couple of last run injuries before someone taught me to say ‘one more after this’. The theory is you end up pushing too hard because you want to make the last one a good one, plus you’re probably already tired by the last one.
My abiding fear is that, once I'm dead, my other half will sell my bikes for what I said they cost. The cost of a rig is something a gentleman should never share.
A mountain biker never tells you that he/she doesn't want to do that really knarly trail because they are scared, they just say that they fancy a more flowing trail!
What else would you put on this list? Let us know and maybe Blake will make a Pt2! 💬👇
Some mountain bikers have no clue how to maintain there Bike
Won't tell you how expensive life will become 😂🤣 I'm in over 6 grand on one bike and still going 🙄🤣😂👌
Never say, that i wish I had an Ebike when climbing. never admit that ever
How much money they have spent on their bike!!!!!
To the wife:

Me: oh, that was cheap and on sale ....
(quietly sneaking the $600 brake upgrade into my office ... hiding the new dropper post and Garmin box under other packages .... )
Love South African accent.
Yup been there before
oh no. my bike is a paltry 2500usd investment. not much for a pro grade hardtail.
I say “2 more runs, skip the last”. It’s done the trick with keeping my last run safe this far. 🤘
Same
Same always go for the “2 more minus 1”
Hell yeah! We usually say just a few more and we'll pack up! And usually within a couple laps somebody just calls it at the bottom and thats that. No "one more"
Love the accent, it’s like watching district 9!

A clean bike is a well looked after bike. Totally agree.
I get the same. “That new bikes not gonna look new for long” 🤣
@@stevefarrimond Nice. I don't understand why someone would spend $4000+ on a new bike and not keep it looking new for as long as possible.
@@believe8263 I know, obviously more money than sense
“Howzit my boet china… totsiens” Blake really tapped to his inner South African 😂😂
Blake! Jassis my bru, that was a truely kak SA accent you put on there boet...
😆👍
I like the voice you made for the other character. I also just want to say I've always said one last run and it's usually our best run of the day.

Same here -
Blake Samson deserves an Oscar for lead actor and supporting actor!

Jamaican Blake is awesome.
They won't tell you that gravel bikes are lit.
Mine's on the way. Shhhhhh ;) hahaha
The last one thing is very true! On the “last run” I broke my collarbone. Last week, I snapped my skis on the “last run”
This was a last run and fractured my collarbone.

Seth has a 1 year old child. He may not be able to leave home that easily.
@@mattgies true but the mother is there and they got a babysitter I think
That they mind when nettles or thorn bushes are growing almost over the trail.

That was so funny. Blake is a star!
Hilarious South African Accent! Only every hear it on the TV😂. LEKKER MAN Blake!🤣🤣🤣
I just remembered Blake grew up in SA.
I went on a quick bike ride during lunch and slightly went otb. It didn't really hurt but somehow I can't type that fast now 😂🤘
