    This is part 1 of my Stigo e-scooter review. The second part includes a lot more riding! :D For anyone curious, this video was shot in Circuit Makati, a fantastic new Ayala development. You'll see more of that in part 2 :)

      Excellent! I like how it folds. I hope Estonians don't get offended by the guy incorrectly saying that their country is "communist."

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад +1

      Yeah the folding is a neat feature. My e-bike folds but in a different way. When I fold my bike in half, it doesn't get any more portable lol. If anything it gets worse! I think he was referring to the history of Estonia when it was a republic of the Soviet Union. My history knowledge isn't great though :P

    • @IvanRiveraStagea
      @IvanRiveraStagea 7 лет назад

      Yes, I've seen how bad some bikes fold. Are you getting a Stigo then? :) Your history's on point. Yeah, I figured he was referring to the Estonian SSR.

      Same, when I heard that I had to pause the vid. *Estonia Comment (The Baltic states has been in the forefront of tech for years)
      Anyway, the scooter looks very premium and can be really compact for an electric one. Use case for this is really for condo dwellers who live in urban planned spaces such as BGC/Eastwood/Villages.
      Price is pretty high for mass market but I think is worth it for the quality. Hopefully they are offering great after sales as with this electric scooters, batteries are the first to go.
      EDIT:for brevity

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад +3

      I'd love to have the Stigo but it's beyond what I could afford, especially because I don't *need* it. It really comes down to circumstances. If your office is too far to walk but too close to drive, the Stigo is perfect and the cost is probably okay. It's a higher upfront cost than some budget e-scooters and e-bikes but the idea is that you wont have to replace it for many years.

    I owned one of these, Cool design, saves space and stylish but unfortunately it has a very big flaw which is the lack of suspensions. Expect to have very uncomfortable rides on uneven road surfaces.
    If you ride on rough roads often, The disk brake which is used on the rear tyre also tends to misaligned due to the lack of suspensions
    The company also doesn’t have any accessories designed to complement the scooter. Not even different types of tyres for different road conditions which is a disappointment.

    Looks great! I would love to get one. Re the warranty, what happens after 2 years and the batteries give out? Do they supply replacement batteries? Other parts? Repair service?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад +1

      I would expect the battery to last much longer but of course the capacity will decrease over time so your range wont be as impressive. But I asked the same question and he said they have replacement batteries and parts ready for such situations.

      I've read some cases on makati, I think the only affected are the ones that looks identical to scooters with gas fuelled motors..
      EBP members advices everyone that uses these to get drivers license, wear helmet, proper gears and follow traffic rules to avoid hassle.

    it looks nice,its so sleek its like a toy,so I assume if you go to a mall and you just want to go shopping you can just leave it in a baggage counter right? I assume the security guards will allow you to carry it around?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад

      From what I was told and from my experience inside Circuit Makati, you can really just fold it up and wheel it wherever you want. Just like a baby pram you can leave it with the baggage counter. We even took them inside a restaurant and no one cared at all. Compare that to my e-bike which they wont even let me lock it outside a restaurant in Eastwood, let alone take it inside lol. The fold-up feature really makes people consider it differently from a normal bike.

    • @jedteng2650
      @jedteng2650 7 лет назад

      Gadget Addict perhaps you can make a video about it ,just experiment how guards react to it,to tell you honestly sometimes I dont understand why they stop you from doing something like for example taking a selfie or just taking a video vlog...

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад

      I think sometimes they're given so many rules and some of them conflict with each other. So they figure it's better to play safe and stop people than risk getting in trouble with their manager later. I got stopped from taking a picture of a tumbler in Starbucks before. One thing I've learned when vlogging is to stay on the move. When you move outside of the guards area, you become someone elses problem and they'll generally pretend they can't see you for at least the first few minutes.

    nice😁 im just curious if that lithium ion battery is made of 18650 cells?😁

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад +2

      I can't be sure but I just looked at some pictures of the battery and I have a feeling it is 18650 cells inside. And that would make more sense than trying to roll some fully custom battery. Much more cost-efficient to use off-the-shelf 18650s and simply create a custom enclosure to hold them inside the frame of the bike.

    • @boyturnilyo6383
      @boyturnilyo6383 7 лет назад

      i did a 18650 battery pack before, but it ended blowing out the internal fuse of the 18650 batteries, i think the cause is i didn't use any kind of BMS for the circuit😁

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад +1

      +boy turnilyo thats possible. It's very important to use a battery management system (BMS) for the safety of the battery and for anyone standing nearby lol

  • @charleshoward9983
    @charleshoward9983 7 лет назад

    Nice little bike. The battery is probably what makes it so expensive.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад +1

      +charles howard yeah I agree the battery probably makes up a large portion of the cost since it's lithium-ion and they need to be able to handle high current. Then you've got the aircraft grade aluminum frame which needs to be a certain quality handle the weight and the regular folding. Plus the extra touches that you don't put much thought into; like the rear light becoming brighter when you pull on either brake lever.

  • @techusi7120
    @techusi7120 7 лет назад

    The portability is nice. Fold and Roll it anywhere you want. can be lifted up too.
    You can bring it indoors instead of leaving it outside.
    You can bring it in Grocery and Drug Store and leave it on baggage counter.
    Roll it in elevator and take it up on your condo/hotel unit.
    Bikes, motorcycles and scooters are often stolen in the garage, carpark or street outside the house. thieves drive them or put them in the back of their van.
    The downside in this unit is, the batteries are inside the frame.
    We cannot replace damaged cells or upgrade it with higher capacity and new upcoming battery technologies.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад

      Those are some good points :) There is a video on RUclips showing how to remove the batteries, so you could do it yourself, if you really wanted to. But I think it would void your warranty.

  • @iceI3urn
    @iceI3urn 7 лет назад

    How much is the extra battery cost? Is the battery replaceable? Can you recharge the battery separately?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад +1

      The batteries are replaceable but you cannot hot-swap them or charge them externally. It's designed to be done by the seller/distributor rather than the end-user. I watched a video about how to do it earlier. It's probably a 20-30 minute process for someone who isn't trained. As for the cost of the replacement battery, I'll have to check on that. I'd imagine it would be quite a few years before you have to consider changing it since lithium-ion batteries don't degrade that fast.

    What if battery ran out in the middle of nowhere? Is there an option for manual or pedal operation?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад +1

      +dnatskfy you can scoot yourself along while sitting on it or fold it up and pull it along like a golf trolley. You can put it in trunk/boot of a taxi or you can pay manong street vendor to run along behind you, pushing the stigo.while you honk your horn and wave at cars to get out of your way.

    just found ur channel today,interesting stuff in here.good job and keep it up dude...after 5 years living in manila i tried pldt and sky internetl till today i have this question :why speed test shows my contract speed like 16 mbps but no way its near that when i go youtube or be on ps4 even with LAN cable..can u make video about this and explain it?tnx

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад +1

      When you use speedtest.net, you're testing against a server inside the same network. E.g. a server sitting in a PLDT data center. But once you connect to a server outside of the PH, performance is much worse and unfortunately most websites are hosted outside of the Philippines. The saving grace is that many content delivery networks have setup servers inside the PH so things are a lot better now, but still not perfect. Using a VPN can often improve your connection :)

    Ok, see. What's the advantage of this over a lightweight, same sized, folding, much cheaper, very low maintenance, and more environmentally friendly pedal powered (besides the not getting tired and not having a chance to exercise) bicycle?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад

      I guess the biggest difference is the amount of sweat you'll have on you by the time you get to where you're going. The same reason many people don't like walking. I'm not against bicycles, I used to ride mine all the time. But if you want to get somewhere sweat-free, e-bikes or e-scooters are better.

    • @johnfortich
      @johnfortich 7 лет назад

      Gadget Addict I get the point, but considering it's size (probably for giant westerners hehe), weight, it's sort a bit of a hassle to carry around. Can't fit a person in MRT let alone this one. Oh and don't get your hopes using the elevators, or escalators for this, they're not working most times. lol. And the price, hrmmn, a let down indeed. There are other alternative personal e-transport. Although this one has lower learning curve since resemble much like a typical bike. Still think it's too big, if it be smaller, say 65-75% its size now, it'll be a better design and most certainly more affordable.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад

      I agree it would be great if they could make it smaller and lighter. But I still think it's very portable and most places I go have working lifts, but I could also just take it on an escalator. It's not for everyone, but I think it will suit some peoples life style. I have a video coming for Inokim e-scooters which are potentially more portable, depending which model you choose. But like you say, they have a steeper learning curve compared to a bike that you sit on. But I found it very easy to ride.

    • @johnfortich
      @johnfortich 7 лет назад

      Gadget Addict If I'd be selling this, I'd go door to door offering this to those who own units in a building with lifts. Much cheaper than going out using my car just to buy something or go to malls. Hrmmn, can you take this to a baggage counter? lol, that be free parking.

    looks sleek enough but it is pricey to be frank about it. The Philippines being a third world country, we need something more affordable. I agree with you that ebikes should look slim and minimal and not try to appear like fat motorcycles.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  7 лет назад

      Yeah, it's a bit pricey. You pay for what you get but it's still a hefty price tag. I know people who spend more on mountain bikes, so there is a market, but it's not a mass market appeal like some budget options. But don't worry because I have more wallet-friendly reviews coming soon. I'm looking at various offerings here in the PH and hopefully we'll find something that matches everyones budget.

      Good question. LTO seem to be struggling to keep up with electric vehicles and it's difficult getting clear guidelines from them. So it's hard to say for sure. I'd be very surprised if you had any problem with enforcers while riding this, provided you stay away from EDSA, SLEX, NLEX etc :P I think their biggest concern are the larger, heavier, ebikes that look the same as a normal gasoline motorbike/scooter and the big e-trikes.
