My conclusion is this, makeup is not selling due to the pandemic, also persons are unable to justify new purchases due to large makeup collections, a saturated market and lack of innovation, thus all these companies will try to capitalize on the present market conditions, i.e persons leaning to self care. It’s simply a business strategy meant to improve the bottom line by increasing one’s product category. It’s all about increasing one’s profit margin to sustain one’s business model. I am not intrigued and I am not driven to pick this up.
@@yulianagonzalez2428 you are just one person dear. There are segments in every market and the pandemic has changed persons buying behavior. It’s nice you’ve got to start your collection. Beautiful finish, something to really treat oneself, just knowing it comes from one of the most iconinc, if not THE most iconic, make up artists ever. She knows what she is doing. Your review was super, as usual. Unfortunately, her Italian website is increasing prices on everything like crazy, this costs 100 euro here. Not that I could afford it atm if it were 86 usd ahah. Considering I don't own may of Pat's products that I want, this wouldn't be my first choice, but when I will have that kind of money, I'll get it. It really gives a beautiful base.
Maybe because an essence leans more skincare, and Pat already has a primer. They do sell it in bundles with other makeup items on the site, so I think they’re marketing it more as a prep versus primer. That probably doesn’t make any sense, but I tried 🤣
@@aliciaarcher I understand your point and PMG is trying to break into a new market. I just felt the promos were a bit confusing but I think it is a downside of only releasing a singular skin care product.
What would be the sunscreen order do you think? Before or after essence? And I wonder what impact that would have on skin and makeup? The price represents ingredient costs sure, your also paying for the 20+ years of her experience, knowledge and training and that should be appreciated and celebrated. If this product works with my sunscreen which I cannot abandon, I’d give it a go.
Hey Melissa 🙆🏽♀️ I agree, and I’m happy that Pat was able to release a vital part of her backstage prowess ⚡️Sunscreen definitely after the essence. And remember, you can also apply your serum, and moisturizer after the essence. And then sunscreen 😎
So happy you received this item! While I love essences and Dame Pat but this is a pass for me mostly due to the price. I use Tatcha’s essence which is quite expensive too. I don’t think the Tatcha essence is bi-phase like Pat’s. I really love her products and expanding into skincare makes sense but not sure why this feels cash grabby to me and not what the market needs. I think a cleansing balm or some sort of makeup remover instead of a product that is new to many and cost prohibitive to others even if they buy her makeup, this may be off their list. Also, the essence is a few steps into the skincare process. I would have been on board with a makeup remover, like a balm or face cleanser or a moisturizer, which are the foundation of a great makeup look! Thanks for such a thorough and thoughtful review!!!
Hi Alicia I enjoyed this video, as it was so nice seeing you use Pat’s foundation and her other products, ❤️❤️ but when you said you threw away Pat’s concealer I had to rewind the video and listen to that part again because I didn’t think I heard you correctly! 🤣🤣 Why would you do such a thing?! I’m in love with Pat’s foundation and concealer so much so I’m not using anything else at the moment! Love you! ❤️❤️
I should’ve provided some context 🤣 I was using it for over a year, and way beyond its recommended shelf life. It was more for product longevity than anything else. I found that when it hits the 12 month mark, it can look a little dry under the eyes. It was just past its use time 🤷🏽♀️
I bought it. Don't care. May not buy again because of the price but just had to try it. Made in Korea, great. But it's priced like the high end Japanese and Korean brands. I'm a little concerned about the fragrance though. I think that's why my skin reacted badly to the Shishedo line.
@@aliciaarcher update. My face didn't react as badly as it did to Shishedo, but a slight rash just below my under eye area made me immediately stop using the product. I wish higher end products didn't add fragrance but I guess lots of people don't have issues with it.
I wasn’t initially interested in the product but I have to admit that the powder makeup looks creamy and luminous over the skincare product. The price though…I’ll have to think hard about whether I am willing to pull the trigger on that. We’ll see.
It’s priced so highly because that’s in line with PML price range. I mean, I’m not surprised nor upset by it. Pat’s boogie AF lol 😂. That being said, I can’t with the fragrance because I can’t risk it bringing on an eczema flair up. Thank you for your honest review as always!
Agreed! It aligns with everything else in her line price wise. And yes, the fragrance will be a huge eczema flair up 😮💨 I was diagnosed with dermatitis maybe two months ago, and now I have to take luke warm showers 🥴
Bio phase technology AKA Mixing water and oil in a bottle 🤣. I mix rose hydrosol, aloe Vera juice, and jojoba oil in a spray bottle for the same effect but you buy Pat for the luxury experience.
I am also keep in the box!!! I only got one sticker I want all of them and I didn’t even know what they were I didn’t know they were stickers cause I didn’t say it on the website and I’m like nobody has mentioned this yet and I’m making a TikTok about it but of course I haven’t even posted it yet because I have like more drafts on my TikTok and anyone else in the world does my whole life it’s basically address for the final draft to see when and I cross over or maybe I’ll be reincarnated knows
As always, I enjoyed the thorough commentary on this toner from PM that you presented, Alicia. BUT at that high price, I'm not sold... Yes. So called "botanicals" are not always good for your skin, and you should test such products in case your skin reacts in a negative way to it. Roses tend to be less stringent than such plants as rosemary or lavender, but it is important to go carefully. Too bad one can't always get a tester for these skin products (vs makeup, like foundations).
i can’t afford her makeup much less afford her $86 “essence”. anyway, i just wanted to tell you how much i love your nail polish and i appreciate how much information you always give us in your videos. thank you so much. 💗💗💗
@@aliciaarcher i always watch your videos, whether i’m interested in the products or not, and i’m not in your comments trying to be any kind of disrespectful.
I can tell you why it’s so expensive. It contains rose water and rose oil made from centifolia and damascena roses. Very time consuming and labor intensive to produce. One drop of rose essential oil requires 60+ rose flowers to produce. 2ml of pure rose essential oil costs up to 100 dollars.
@@alja_jo What country are you from? Rose water is not as expensive as rose oil. And rose absolute (solvent extracted) is not as expensive as rose Otto (steam distillation) but it’s not as pure either.
@R.C. Price reflects the quality of the product produced. The more pure the product the higher the price. There are a lot of people who sell low quality products that are not true essential oils. Those are bad, true essential oils of the highest quality are very healing for the skin. But you can’t apply them directly, they have to be diluted in a carrier oil. ✨🌸💖
For people wondering about price differences in "the same product" a lot of the price is the process to get it. For example standard canola oil goes through a chemical heavy process. This process causes the oil to be extremely inflammatory when consumed. Why companies do that process is it is a lot cheaper, because it extracts almost every drop of oil versus the old mechanical process that leaves a decent amount behind.
That’s what I figured as well. The quality of the materials, but also the process through which the properties are extracted an formulated can be costly. Or not, depending on the process. And yes, seed oils are the absolute worst.
It seems rose has been an ingredient in beauty products forever. The Victorians used rose water & of course rose scented powders/potpouris have beeen around a long time as well. I've always wondered, what is it that is beneficial about the rose---I mean what chemical compounds are present that when processed are good for the skin? I totally get the poetic association of Beauty=Rose & people liking the fragrance. Just curious, does anyone know? Rose is so ubiquitous in beauty products & I've always wondered why :) Speaking of flowers, my allergies are really bad too. Certain times of year my fragrance tolerance bucket gets full & I'm more sensitive than usual. I just used a hair gel that I didn't realize was strongly fragranced (it didn't smell strongly in the jar when I sniffed it) & now my eyes are very unhappy & it's all I can smell. Ugh. I don't like fragrance in skincare, haircare or personal care products because it makes the products unusable for me. I'd like to see more options for people with fragrance sensitivities & for more brands to offer fragrance free lines.
dear god i need to stop watching your videos.... i know it wasn't even the focus of the video, but I wasn't planning on getting that bridgerton palette and yet after seeing this look I'm like.....now I want....dammit lol
So, after years of supporting PMG Labs and posting rave reviews about her products on my IG and on my website, never a bad word, I shared the initial post about this essence… I said: I am not interested in this launch. That was all. Next day my Story was gone and I found out they blocked me. Sent them an email asking if they will fix it and how is this appropriate towards a customer- never got a reply. 1 week later I sold all my palettes and was done with PMG. Really sorry a bad customer support team is ruining her name this way. Just wanted to put the word out there, as no matter how good products are brand’s integrity is equally important. P.S. Because of your reviews I got into Pat’s makeup and I am so sad this is a chapter that ended for me in a bad way.

Could you take a picture of the ingredient list and post it? I've been waiting to see it
Given the promo pics I was surprised they didn't market it as a primer/skin care combo. But I don't know too much about the skincare scene.
Wait no primer? Have you use the PML Essence, Primer, Foundation together? If so, how you like it? Sorry if you talked about this already
Thank you Alicia, I’m even more certain that I’ll skip on this release bc my skin is oily and summer in Hong Kong will leave me no chance🥲
@R.C. thank you!
Let me know how it goes. I found the fragrance to not be as aggressive as I’ve smelled from Shiseido. Wish it wasn’t there, but it’s not strong.
@@aliciaarcher update. My face didn't react as badly as it did to Shishedo, but a slight rash just below my under eye area made me immediately stop using the product. I wish higher end products didn't add fragrance but I guess lots of people don't have issues with it.
Tfs bc I was so curious. Why did you throw away your PML concealer?
Is was beyond the 12 month mark, and I wanted to try something new. So I was using it beyond its suggested shelf life.
I wasn’t initially interested in the product but I have to admit that the powder makeup looks creamy and luminous over the skincare product. The price though…I’ll have to think hard about whether I am willing to pull the trigger on that. We’ll see.
I still love you to pieces and I hope that you are getting my messages in other threads
I hope they come out with a sample size. I want to try it even tho I'm oily af lol
I’m not an essence type of gal however this could be my first, even more so with summer coming up ,)
Good to know!
Bio phase technology AKA Mixing water and oil in a bottle 🤣. I mix rose hydrosol, aloe Vera juice, and jojoba oil in a spray bottle for the same effect but you buy Pat for the luxury experience.
Alicia, If you had a podcast, whatever the subject, I'd totally be av avis listener!
The price is too much for an essensse but I might splurge on it at a later time maybe when winter comes
Maybe it will go on sale at that point!
It would be great if the brand can stick samples in any future orders. Or maybe sell a mini!
@@aliciaarcher Agree!
🔥🔥🔥📖👑💒🛐🕊🔥🙏yup we definitely need a sale🙏🏽Congratulations PML definitely Luminous Frennn You Look Good👋🏼❤🙏🏻🔥
i can’t afford her makeup much less afford her $86 “essence”. anyway, i just wanted to tell you how much i love your nail polish and i appreciate how much information you always give us in your videos. thank you so much. 💗💗💗
That one looks great! I like that it has a camellia leaf water base ☺️
Thank you for watching! I knew this release would have a mixed response, but it was interesting to dive into the product.
@@aliciaarcher i always watch your videos, whether i’m interested in the products or not, and i’m not in your comments trying to be any kind of disrespectful.
@R.C. thank you so much for the suggestion. i will definitely look it up and give it a shot. do you know where i can find it???
i’m assuming she’s marketing as lux brand. in asia lux branded essences are often $150+ so pmg at $86 doesn’t sound so bad? 😅
Well since those roses are widely spread in my country, we are not used to paying that much for rose water 🤷🏻♀️
I was most definitely not going to buy this...until I saw this. Let us know how it works with your skin over time!
Rose is so ubiquitous in beauty products & I've always wondered why :)
Speaking of flowers, my allergies are really bad too.
Makeup look pretty, product have to think about that price
I would wait on it. It’s lovely, but the sales have been nuts 👀
PHYSICIAN'S FORMULA rose primer the same
Pass for all the reasons you stated lol
Why do I want an "essence"??
dear god i need to stop watching your videos.... i know it wasn't even the focus of the video, but I wasn't planning on getting that bridgerton palette and yet after seeing this look I'm like.....now I want....dammit lol
💜
I am a sucka for pricey skincare, and I want to support Mama Pat, so of course I ordered this right away… My wallet cries, but I’m happy.

Love Pat McGrath but I will be skipping this for now 😊
Yes! We’re looking forward to her next mothership 🙆🏽♀️
@@aliciaarcher yes 100% agree.
I’m terribly sorry for your experience. I truly don’t know what to say. It’s sad that customer service and the social media team are not exhibiting quality service and respectable handling of content.
That looks like dr cueracle kombucha essence
You are paying too much because it’s Pat McGrath. Period. LOL.
I love the line so much, but it is $120 +13% taxes in Ontario Canada! Is there diamonds in it?! I am all for paying more for new and innovative products but like said this can be duped for products much less $$$ BOOOOOOO!
This is not at all exciting. Bring on the motherships!
Hopefully X will knock our socks off!
This essence is way over priced, they seem desperate to sell it, even giving it out on influenster 😘
To be fair, lots of brands use Influenster to generate reviews :)
@@whitneybarringer6719 I'm just annoyed with the brand at this point, after spending tons of money, the last few releases look like cash grabs, where's the legit artistry 😒
@@beautifuldisater I know what you mean. I feel the same way. I even picked up the last Bridgerton release and I was super disappointed in how cheap the packaging felt (especially the Blush 🙄). It was so much money too, ugh
Yesterday I received an answer "from you" to a comment I did in a video.. and ask me to contact you by whatsapp for a gift... Very weird and I responded in RUclips and the message was erased 😕
