Heard this song just before I left for the Army in early September 2001, 5 days later 9/11 happened and over 20 years later I am still serving after 5 combat deployments and each time I hear this song it reminds me of the grace God has shown me in helping me return home safely each time. Love this beautiful version of this amazing song. The words hold meaning to me
Thank you for sharing that and thank you for your service. There is something so meaningful about this song and our journey here on earth. I don't have long to live but i find peace in the goodness and grace of God. He is at the helm and will ultimately give all of his children a heaven that is perfectly fit for them.
Thank you for sharing. Abd thsnk you for your service. Stay safe. May God bless you and keep you safe. And may He turn to look at you smile and bless you with peace.
This song makes me cry every time I hear it. It's just so incredibly beautiful. I think about it every time I remember how my little boy was on the brink of death. We were planning for his funeral when a blessing miraculously restored his life. That was 3 years ago, and he is still with us, healthy and strong. Thank you for producing this beautiful song
I was a prodigal son for 43 years and returned to the church 2 years ago. This song brings tears to my eyes and makes me think of my departed parents and of all the pain I caused them.
Praise God to break us and convict us and set us back on His path. ❤ Thinking about my own son, no matter how long it takes, I pray that he will come back as a prodigal too
I asked my buddies in high school if they had heard this song. Some replied, “no”. So I showed them this video. Now, sometimes in orchestra class, I’ll overhear them listening to it on their earbuds. Such a great version of such a great song.
I can not express how thankful I am to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(Mormon). I have suffered from major anxiety and depression, and I have never felt the peace the Savior gives me in this church anywhere else. I know that Christ lives. I know that he loves you and he will always be there for you. You are never alone.
Emily O I suffer with those as well. Nothing is impossible with the Lord. You will get well. Just wait for His right time. That bright morning will come.
I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ for many years, I am so grateful to the heavenly father for showing me his true church, my family is not a member, I am a single member, it is very difficult, but with God I can do all things.
Lord have mercy on her soul, and welcome her to his embrace. And may he assuage your grief and bring you peace. I can't imagine what you've gone through.
This song was playing as my sweet step mom breathed out her last breath. We hadn't realized it was Homeward Bound until the youtubebot paused the song to ask if we were still listening.
Bill Benson - I was adopted at 5 years old to help work a farm in Nebraska. The animals quickly became my closest friends. I was amazed at the results of plowing and preparing the dark black soil prior to planting yellow kernels of corn. As days past and the kernels lay in the ground, It wasn't long before I realized there was a God. I was amazed as the Lord converted the rolling hills of our farm, into a massive carpet of green. Millions of tiny plants broke through the soil, absorbing moisture and engulfing the sun's warmth. It was a wonderful childhood growing up with my adopted sister and wonderful loving parents. Each time I hear "Coming Home", my memories are always flooded with God's love for me and all His people. It will be part of my funeral service.
This song reminds me so much of my mission. I want to go back. It was the hardest most difficult experience in my life and I would go back in a heartbeat. The church is true I witness that with my entire soul. I love this gospel.
Amen!!! It reminds me of the Square and compass. We stay grounded with the square, and explore with the compass. I love our father and mother. So grateful they allowed us to go out to this world and have these experiences. Their plan is truly a plan of happiness and joy.
I was fortunate to travel with the Tab Choir for 13 years. I have heard them do this song live so many times but it is just so glorious. Darin, the one playing the solo at the beginning and throughout the song made the instrument that he is playing. What an amazingly talented group of people and musicians. Love the orchestra and most importantly the ORGAN! King of instruments.
Thank you for sharing that about the instrument people would not know that. I am so grateful for their talents, what peace it brings to a world in turmoil🙏😊
David! I hope that you were able to be a part of Touched by an Angel in the “Winter Carol” episode of season 8. I thought when the choir came out after Roma Downey made her announcement, it was the neatest experience on the show! My college professor Maureen Hearns was also in the choir and also Claudia Bigler my choir teacher.
November 1969 late at night in the belly of a jet plane crossing the Pacific Ocean approaching the coast of the United States, I was finally coming home after serving two years in the 198th. Infantry in Viet Nam. Even today I'm so humbled and grateful to have lived and came home
When I'm depressed, I always love listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir ..........Thank God for them and their beautiful music with a special message.
Step away from your depression, and look UP,feel UP and stay UP and accept all of life's treasures and blessings.,.......there's much to wonder and pleased and HAPPY with in this World.,......Peace be with you.
I cannot adequately state what The Mormon Tabernacle Choir means to me . . .I find solace, joy and comfort in every piece they sing. My heart is filled with the music.
I too love this Choir and the variety of beautiful songs that are sung. Music calms my soul, it centers me. I firmly believe that God, our Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost choose music as a way of teaching us of Them. Music reminds me that each person on the Earth is loved and respected by this Godhead. Music stills my soul, it makes my heart rejoice, it comforts me. It is always there
We are organising my mother's funeral (she left us last Wednesday, April 19th 2023). This songs embodies my feelings right now. Thank you for posting it here!
❤when I returned home after my mom’s funeral I was beyond exhausted beyond sad. Then, that same day this song was featured. I believe it was from heaven. ❤.
My daughter got a scholarship for college in voice and of all the songs I heard her sing, this one she dedicated to me because she knew I loved it. I cry every time I hear it. Thank you my dearest daughter Caroline for reminding me where I came from. I love you so.
Beautiful music from the Church of Jesus Christ; It reminds me of when I met the Church with my parents and siblings, it reminds me of my mother who is no longer physically with me, but her Spirit always accompanies me along with her legacy of faith, testimony, service and love.
One of only five songs I have requested to be played at my wake. Heaven is where I'm bound and by the time my loved ones have gathered to hear this I will be home...for all eternity.
Lyrics: In the quiet misty morning When the moon has gone to bed, When the sparrows stop their singing And the sky is clear and red, When the summer's ceased its gleaming When the corn is past its prime, When adventure's lost its meaning - I'll be homeward bound in time Bind me not to the pasture Chain me not to the plow Set me free to find my calling And I'll return to you somehow If you find it's me you're missing If you're hoping I'll return, To your thoughts I'll soon be listening, And in the road I'll stop and turn Then the wind will set me racing As my journey nears its end And the path I'll be retracing When I'm homeward bound again Bind me not to the pasture Chain me not to the plow Set me free to find my calling And I'll return to you somehow (softly) In the quiet misty morning When the moon has gone to bed, When the sparrows stop their singing I'll be homeward bound again.
This hymn helped me through my last deployment. The power of the spirit present in this hymn eased the pain of separation from my family and helped me look forward to coming home. Additionally, it helped me to have a more eternal prospective of life on earth. Suffering is momentary, if we endure it well we can live with him and our families forever.
What beautiful hymn, it so uplifting. It helped while been in the hospital the last couple days and down about it. Thank you choir and orchestra and all you made this possible to listen.
Yesterday we visited the grave of two of my dead relatives, and I played this in my head. At the end I looked up the sky and felt peace. This song is so uplifting. ❤
Here from having nightmares after my dear aunt died from cancer. Such a dear and good woman. Only 39. She loved me and my siblings like we were hers. Always encouraged me and uplifted me. I will request this be played at her funeral. It’s in 12 days
I was widowed very young, left with four children to raise on my own but through it all, I thought of my husband's journey home, it was probably with joy, with relief, and, with some wistfulness too for what he had to leave behind. This marvelous song expresses so perfectly what I felt. The choir sung my heart's words.
First time i heard this song was when the Tabernacle Choir sang at the Lloyd Noble Center. It has become one of my favorites, spiritual experience for sure. The lyrics really match our journey through this life, using our time, talents and resources along with accepting the Saviors beautiful gift of his Atoning sacrifice and helping him complete his mission here.
This song...just so sweet and tender. My husband and both parents passed away in a 7 month stretch. Although I miss them so much, I have my darling grandson here. Someday, I'll return to them somehow and we'll be together again. My grandson saved me. He was born a year after my mother, the last of the 3, passed away. He's 10 1/2 now and a really wonderful boy.
I just understand what you write. I miss so much my first daughter who has rejoined the Father’s Home. Someday I will see her again with our beloved. So I listen and watch this vidéo every day. Many thanks ton the Tabernacle Choir
A friend in my singles ward taught me this song one day after church, quite some years before the choir recorded it. I use it in my music thanatology practice. I am employed by hospices to play harp and sing at the bedside of the dying, and this has become one of my favorite songs to sing at the bedside of my patients. It is the perfect message and the melody is exquisite. I was so happy to hear the choir had recorded it. Saying goodbye is so difficult, and this song seems to me the perfect message at the bedside. This arrangement by Bro. Wilberg is so beautiful and well done. The song itself to me is a jewel, a gem and wonderful at the bedside. Thank you Marta Keen.
Opening one's heart to the Lord Jesus as one lies upon the deathbed is of central, urgent importance. I would hope that, along with this beautiful music you share, you would also address the spiritual needs of the dying. Many who lie upon the deathbed do not know the Saviour Jesus Christ; they have shut Him out for the duration of their lives. They are not prepared for death. They are in fear. To ask them to consider a Saviour who will save them from their sins, would be most expedient. The dying ought to be asked to consider their sins throughout life, and told that judgement awaits them if they are not willing to admit their sins. There is no greater comfort at death, than to know, as the great Apostle wrote," There is therefore now, no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit." Romans 8:1. It is the greatest assurance ever written for mankind, and this verse is considered the consummation of both Old and New Testaments. i hope you will consider this.
My father has always loved good music and that particularly includes the MTC and Orchestra At Temple Square. My father is 100 years old, and is starting to fail physically this month now. I bought him this album to focus his 'going home' to Paradise where he will meet again with his dear wife (my mother) and many others he loved in this lifetime.
This brought tears to my eyes ..........I know 100% that you'll see him again.....You are separated for just a short time and bingo the veil will be lifted and you'll be with all your passed loved ones again, and that includes your pets.......These things I know !
If your father is still alive, I would like to sing a private concert..including this song....for your family if I can possibly arrange transportation. I performed this in Ireland for a D-Day Commemoration last June and will perform it again at a Welsh Camanfa Ganu (music festival of sacred music) in February. Love you for your wonderful sonship. -- Kim Cooney, international sacred tenor, Redmond, Washington, kim [dot] cooney [at sign] comcast [dot] net
I don't believe you have to practice one religion or another to appreciate great art. Music speaks straight to our hearts, in all languages, in every country, to every soul...
It's a WWI song. It has the most meaning to the service men and women and their families. Some come home with a flag draped coffin! May they all rest in peace!
My soul feels at peace when I hear this beautiful song. I think of my loved ones that have passed away and my yearning to be reunited for them. The song makes my soul cry, but happy tears, hopeful feelings. I love my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ who have made it possible for all of us to be reunited with them and with all of our loved ones.
I woke up from a horrendous nightmare and come here, to purify my soul.. i have no words for this music, the performers.. everything. i'm in heaven.. we all are
Local choir sang this beautiful song on Saturday as a tribute to our 99 year old father as part of his funeral service. I don't know how Dad felt about the rest of the program...but I am absolutely certain he loved the choir singing this remarkable song. It feels like heaven is just around the corner when I listen to this extraordinary choir sing this prayer.
I listened to this when my son was deployed in the Iraq war. It opened the floodgates of pent up emotion that I had so long suppressed and the tears finally flowed freely. For me, it will forever be tied to this memory. Each time I hear it I revisit the depth of emotion experienced that first time. ❤🔥
I feel embraced by the loving arms of my Heavenly Father every time I hear the sacred music of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square. You are truly one of heaven's gifts to a needy world full of longing hearts. We love you!
found this on accident while looking for the simon and garfunkle song by the same name and this is just so soothing i want to put it on repeat while i sleep
This song...tears every time I hear it. So beautiful...haunting. I think of my darling husband, my sweet stepdad, and my beloved mother when I hear it. They all 3 passed away in 2008-2009 in a 7 month stretch. This song brought me hope and peace.
But hey my brother, isn't technology wonderful we have 'repeat'? 😇🎶🎶And when I love a song so much somehow there exists on the internet an upload that will play that song on repeat for hours or I make one😇 Have a happy Tuesday....
I remember standing there looking back at my house and the memorys of my mum and dad and the rest of family how I miss them. But there will come a day when I will be home again in heaven how I long for that day to come but I can wait..
I think of my Father and Mother who have passed away and long to see them again. Music is my soul and this beautiful piece helps me to see into eternity.
I recently lost my much loved mother, Florrie Engalee, she was 93 years old and loved life so much, she fought passing so hard. Since her passing I find it hard to go thru one day without crying, I miss her daily calls, her voice on the phone, I miss visiting her 2x a month to clean and shop for her. Now she has been amputated from my life. Stumbled upon this song, it touches my sad heart. Thru grief I will arise again, and get thru one day without sadness.
Every single time that i hear that song, i have the purest feeling that i can feel in that day. I always remember how much Our Heavenly Father loves us deeply. I always remember about the members of my family that i have on my tree and was made the temple work for them. I always remember of my dear and sweet grandma that has passed away seven years ago. I always remember how i want to experience the Heaven, living with my Savior, my wife and my family. I really love the Spirit that i feel when i'm listening it.
Jesus beautifies our souls and it is through this song that we can beautify Him. I cannot help my eyes from shedding tears when I hear this song. May Our God in Heaven be Praised Forever in Jesus' name, Amen:)
This Choir is such a blessing to my life. Each morning I listen to them seems to improve my day. My mind, my thoughts are more heaven centered. Life is a song.....and love is the music!
for years I've been going through depression. it felt like I had no hope, no one to talk to, it felt like I was alone. I've tried committing suicide, but as much times as I wanted to I know god gave me this life because he knew I can handle it. the times I almost did he held my hand through it all and told me it was going to be alright. if anyone is going through depression please just know he is always there for you even though your darkest times. listen, god will always be there for you.
I like what you said That you know God gave you this life be because He knows you can handle it! I have experienced depression at times in my life so heavily that Idont know if I can handle it but then I remember we do have a choice to beleive in His goodness even when times are so dificult we think we cant. May God bless your life!
This is one of many beautiful pieces my family sang at my beloved dad's funeral last year. He loved music, he loved words, and mostly he loved home and family. I will miss him forever . . and music like this will always remind me of him.
+Jennifer Rummler so sorry for your loss Jennifer. This is such a beautiful Hymn with which to say farewell to a loved one. I hope you find peace each time you hear it...
This music and its message speak deeply to my soul. Nothing I can say can do justice this incredible arrangement and performance. I can close my eyes and feel the nearness of Jesus. Thank You Father
I left my home for the first time in my life five years ago... I have not been home since.... Not because I don't want to, or I am unwelcome.... I just have not been able to make it back. This music brings such comfort to me. Thanks for uploading.
Homeward Bound In the quiet misty morning When the moon has gone to bed, When the sparrows stop their singing And the sky is clear and red, ***When the summer's ceased its gleaming, When the corn is past its prime, When adventure's lost its meaning, I'll be homeward bound in time.*** Bind me not to the pasture; Chain me not to the plow. Set me free to find my calling And I'll return to you somehow. If you find it's me you're missing, If you're hoping I'll return, To your thoughts I'll soon be list'ning, In the road I'll stop and turn. Then the wind will set me racing As my journey nears its end, And the path I'll be retracing When I'm homeward bound again. Bind me not to the pasture; Chain me not to the plow. Set me free to find my calling And I'll return to you somehow.
I have returned home to live and produce you tube releases about being a Mormon. I left in 1986 and held onto the iron rod through many challenges that has taken me closer to the tree of the love of God. Listening to Church music daily joins my birth home to the love of God
A peaceful transition for all of us. From toil and trouble, from hurt and pain -- we will leave those things behind and we will awaken in a new place. May I add to that sentiment my heartfelt gratitude to Mack Wilburg, who uses his God-given intelligence and musical talent to bring comfort and joy to a world that needs it.
I'm going through the darkest and sadest period of my life. This song always gives me hope that one day I will and can go back to Him and I've agreed in pre-mortal life to come as I've have and to experience this life. This song gives me strength that I need to go on.
He knows your heart and what you're going through .........Some things in life are to make us strong ....... we need sad times and difficult times in our life to appreciate the truly happy times in life and we need to know that these hard times are only for a season .......... One thing I know is that during hard times, try and find someone that is suffering around you and lift their spirits up by doing something good and kind.........I promise you that it will come back to you many fold if you do.......... He knows your heart and the good things you do for others, you also do those things to Him.
I went through the darkest part of my life as well and this song helped bring me through it. I'm telling you....not too long after I found myself crying my eyes out to this song day after day was I granted the freedom and relief I so longed for. The light did come and I was set free. It can happen.
I went on a two week music tour around Europe with a group of people from my school. We were invited to participate in an international music festival in Vienna with hundreds of other schools across the world. Not only that, but we were able to sing and play music at churches and various locations around Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. It was the most amazing two weeks of my life. Being able to share feelings with people who didn't speak a word of english, on the other side of the world through the power of music was wonderful. We sang this song throughout the 2 weeks, and we performed this at our final concert in a small church just outside of Vienna. By the end of this song we were all crying, and even though the people there didn't know why we were crying while singing, they cried too. Afterwards we had so many people, both young and old, come up and tell us as best they could that they felt our emotions through our performance. It was an experience I'll never forget to this day, and I would give anything to be able to experience it again.
I came here seeking the spirit in order to prepare for a blessing I am going to give to my grandfather who is unfortunately in the intensive care unit. Please pray for him brothers and sisters! Our God is one of miracles. For is not this life alone a miracle?
Elder Congdon I loved that you take serious preparation before giving a blessing. Thanks for sharing that and remember God loves and cares for you expessuly in the toughest of times
I sit here almost bawling my eyes out as I listen to this masterpiece of musical fusion. There is not a time that I am not brought to tears when listening to this most beautiful piece, so masterfully rendered by MTC. It makes me think of the life I have and had, and all those people that made it a beautiful experience. So pure and deep in its spiritual essence, and brings me to a place of complete awareness of what this life on earth is really all about. Thank you for the ability to bring us to that very important place of deep reflection. May God always bless MTC, and I look forward to being there to hear you all live.
Hats off to the wonderful and talented gentleman playing the recorder! This song was sung by Ralph Mecham's descendants at his funeral in Washington DC a number of years ago. It was very touching. Well done, Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square!
I Love you Grandpa. Thank you for showing us the way. We will be together forever. I miss you so much and this song brings peace to me. I know you're still continuing your mission and I will see you again. Papa Lor -Seng Lor
I thought of how I am now the 1st Councillor to the BP and after listening to this song again I found that my calling is more important than I ever imagined to the lives of those I guide. I cried as I promised my Lord I would do Him proud as I repented of my lack of understanding that I should travail in this life to give Him praise. Even unto the ends of the earth as I take my final breath I will know that as long as I held His calling high and remembered to keep His commandments and rebuke all sinful natures from my heart I will see Him again. My Lord and my God I await the day of Your call unto me as I hear this choir sing the AHHHH I imagine entering into the gates of heaven. Oh, what a day it will be when I can finally rest from journey here.
The blending of harmonies and how well the orchestra goes together is just phenomenal. I sang this song in choir when I was in school and it will have always a special meaning in my heart. Thank you for your music and voices!
I Have had a hard time feeling the spirit, but when I listen to this wonderful music I realize just how much of a presence god has in my life. To all you aethists out there I can confidently tell you that God is real and is watching the out for you. May you be lifted on the wings of His servants and find his hand in everything on this planet. I wish you a happy life!
I was so blessed to have been able to hear motab sing this live when i visited utah for a holiday back in 2015. I never cried so much like i did that sunday morning and i still cry when i come on here to listen to it whenever I miss my dad who passed away. This will always be my favourite song they performed. It brings me so much peace and assurance that God is real and that where my father is now, he is finally at peace and resting.
I'm a freshman in college, and though I'm away from home this some how makes a extended hand reaching from my mom to myself. I'm crying and I don't know why but one thing it iterates is that I'm gone for just moment and will return in time.
Hello, Jody. I have from time to time found myself crying also while listening to beautiful music. There is something wonderful and yet something sad also that we feel. I think it is a sort of homesickness for, perhaps, something we once knew or sense that awaits us. Your soul senses something beyond the mundane. Be thankful for that. Best wishes for success in your college endeavors.
As usual, the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square offers such a beautiful performance of this hymn. Thank you choir!!! Your are amazing! I love your work.
I first sang this my senior year of high school for an honor choir I was apart of and then later for my graduation. This song has so much meaning to me.
I'm Playing this in my band with the choir and orchestra for the 6th graders and then that night for the parents. I bet you anything there will be parents who will start crying
we are preparing to sing this wonderful song in november to remember our ancestors on a family history event in El Salvador. This is a masterpiece that makes us feel the spirit
Listening to this as I sit by the banks of the River Slaney in Altamont Gardens in County Carlow. Listening to the river flowing and the birds singing and reflecting on the beauty of nature and the miracle of God's creation. A beautiful place with little human intention and purpose. Its mothers day and I'm really missing my Mum today. She returned home to God in 2018 and her passing left a huge void in my life. A mother's love is truly a blessing. She was a great woman of faith and of prayer. One of the many gifts she gave me was the gift and beauty of faith and prayer. Mum had a zest for life. She loved to dance and she loved waltzes. My best friend and my guardian angel. Mammy I know you're dancing and laughing now with my brothers and the angels and saints in heaven. Missing you every minute of every day. Happy mothers day.
Thank you for all you've done and all you do!! We should always remember to pray for our servicemen.
Thank you for your service in behalf of our beloved America.
Thank you for sharing. Abd thsnk you for your service. Stay safe. May God bless you and keep you safe. And may He turn to look at you smile and bless you with peace.
You are awesome
.
Don't have to be religious to appreciate the beauty of this choir's sound!
Everyone is religious. Even atheism is a religion. No one alive was at the beginning of the world. It takes faith no matter what you believe.
Really!!
Amen to that❤
Heavenly sounds touch anyone who seeks truth. God bless
I think the poem itself isn’t religious, but this choir sings it beautifully. ☺️
God-bless you and your son. prayers.
God The Eternal Father is God of Miracles 🤲🏾
🙌🙌
🙏God blessd you and your son. Thank you so to God.
God bless you! ❤
I was a prodigal son for 43 years and returned to the church 2 years ago. This song brings tears to my eyes and makes me think of my departed parents and of all the pain I caused them.
And imagine all of the joy that was theirs when you returned. Where we have been matters not.
Praise God
They love ❤️ you
No. They're proud of you.
Praise God to break us and convict us and set us back on His path. ❤
Thinking about my own son, no matter how long it takes, I pray that he will come back as a prodigal too
I asked my buddies in high school if they had heard this song. Some replied, “no”. So I showed them this video. Now, sometimes in orchestra class, I’ll overhear them listening to it on their earbuds. Such a great version of such a great song.
The butterfly effect of sharing a song, good job!
That's so cool!! Good on u😉
Música que calma mi tempestad
I can not express how thankful I am to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(Mormon). I have suffered from major anxiety and depression, and I have never felt the peace the Savior gives me in this church anywhere else. I know that Christ lives. I know that he loves you and he will always be there for you. You are never alone.
Emily O 💒⛪️😇🧚♀️👼
Emily O I suffer with those as well. Nothing is impossible with the Lord. You will get well. Just wait for His right time. That bright morning will come.
Amen, Sister!
Emily O Welcome Home
I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ for many years, I am so grateful to the heavenly father for showing me his true church, my family is not a member, I am a single member, it is very difficult, but with God I can do all things.
This song was sung at my 19 year old daughter’s funeral after she was killed in a car accident. It brought so much peace to me. Love it!
God bless you. She loves you still.
I am sorry to hear that beloved of the Lord
Oh my goodness.... condolences to you and family. I hope you are doing ok😢.. this is a very beautiful song.❤Blessings to you.
Lord have mercy on her soul, and welcome her to his embrace. And may he assuage your grief and bring you peace. I can't imagine what you've gone through.
My condolences. 😢
Brings tear to my eyes during this tender and fragile time after losing my wife a few months ago. Music from Heaven....
Take heart brother, God is with you and your family
When you seek God more you will feel her spirit more. Seek and Hear HIm.
So sorry for your loss, many prayers
May you find peace in the Knowledge of God’s plan of Joy and Happiness
With God all things are possible.
This song was playing as my sweet step mom breathed out her last breath. We hadn't realized it was Homeward Bound until the youtubebot paused the song to ask if we were still listening.
God Bless The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.🙏
AMEN
Bill Benson - I was adopted at 5 years old to help work a farm in Nebraska. The animals quickly became my closest friends. I was amazed at the results of plowing and preparing the dark black soil prior to planting yellow kernels of corn. As days past and the kernels
lay in the ground, It wasn't long before I realized there was a God.
Thanks, I can see those hills a massive carpet of green. There is a God!!!
This song reminds me so much of my mission. I want to go back. It was the hardest most difficult experience in my life and I would go back in a heartbeat. The church is true I witness that with my entire soul. I love this gospel.
The older and wiser I get, the more I appreciate this music.
You and me both.
Please share the older wisdom or deeper meaning of this song. Thanks.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
What is the instrument he is playing? It is beautiful! Is it some type of flute or recorder or clarinet?
November 1969 late at night in the belly of a jet plane crossing the Pacific Ocean approaching the coast of the United States, I was finally coming home after serving two years in the 198th. Infantry in Viet Nam. Even today I'm so humbled and grateful to have lived and came home
Thank you for your service.

P
My nephew sang an amazing and beautiful rendition of the song at my father's memorial today.♥️
I miss you already, Dad.
It is always there
Let us accept the gift of salvation that Christ has given us that no works can earn or contribute .
We are organising my mother's funeral (she left us last Wednesday, April 19th 2023).
This songs embodies my feelings right now. Thank you for posting it here!
I am so sorry for your loss. Blessing to you and your family.
❤when I returned home after my mom’s funeral I was beyond exhausted beyond sad. Then, that same day this song was featured. I believe it was from heaven. ❤.
I pray for her to rest in peace, and for you to be blessed great fully. Amen! ❤️❤️❤️
My daughter got a scholarship for college in voice and of all the songs I heard her sing, this one she dedicated to me because she knew I loved it. I cry every time I hear it. Thank you my dearest daughter Caroline for reminding me where I came from. I love you so.
The Tabernacle chior, sang this song so beautifully. Whenever I hear "Homeward Bound,"
I feel God's love. 🙌❤️
Lyrics:
In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing
And the sky is clear and red,
When the summer's ceased its gleaming
When the corn is past its prime,
When adventure's lost its meaning -
I'll be homeward bound in time
Bind me not to the pasture
Chain me not to the plow
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow
If you find it's me you're missing
If you're hoping I'll return,
To your thoughts I'll soon be listening,
And in the road I'll stop and turn
Then the wind will set me racing
As my journey nears its end
And the path I'll be retracing
When I'm homeward bound again
Bind me not to the pasture
Chain me not to the plow
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow
(softly)
In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing
I'll be homeward bound again.
I thank you ever so much for providing the Lyrics 🥹💞🥹
Thank you! When I saw this video and heard the song first what i wanted was to know lyrics. I live in Russia. Slava Ukraine!
❤thank you sooo much 👍
❤
Love this song...toches my inner being..listening all the way from PNG..
Whenever I'm homesick... This music brings me back to my Father in Heaven...
This song was my mother's favorite . We played it at her funeral. She was so anxious and longed to go home.
Thank you for your service!
You are very brave. God bless you sir!
God bless you, and thank you for your service.
I'm a Mormon in Nigeria and I wish to sing along with this amazing choir, I'm a tenor
It could happen!!❤️‼️
I hope you get to. That would be wonderful!
How can anybody down vote something which is nothing short of heavenly, beautiful and soul filling.
My ex stepmother had a copy of this cd. I fell in love with the song and now 30yrs later roughly i would like it sang at my funeral some day.
Harp Song God bless you for your compassion and courage in accepting the burden of your calling. I admire your depth of spirit.
You are awesome. Thank you for your loving care and compassion for these deserving souls. May God truly bless you.
What a beautiful way to use this song!
Bless you.
My son sang this in choir. I loved it.
Your a wonderful child.
I agree...but please tell me how do you knpw ..
Bless you ,and your family
So calming. I'm not even Mormon and I appreciate this moving song ❤️
That's what makes music so amazing. It can touch your heart, no matter what background you're from.
This song was sung a cappella so beautifully by an all boys choir at my son's high school graduation from an all boys school. Absolutely stunning.
As soon as this came on, I got these goosebumps and actually started crying. This is real, proper music unlike all that autotune stuff
Of course this is called art. Not that garbage that’s made today
Puts me straight back on one of my merchant navy ships of yesteryear lovelyI
found this on accident while looking for the simon and garfunkle song by the same name and this is just so soothing i want to put it on repeat while i sleep
This song...tears every time I hear it. So beautiful...haunting. I think of my darling husband, my sweet stepdad, and my beloved mother when I hear it. They all 3 passed away in 2008-2009 in a 7 month stretch. This song brought me hope and peace.
What a shame this song ever has to end....
+givemegracebumps I agree, such a beautiful song. It was playing when my grandfather passed away. Very special.
so true
But hey my brother, isn't technology wonderful we have 'repeat'? 😇🎶🎶And when I love a song so much somehow there exists on the internet an upload that will play that song on repeat for hours or I make one😇 Have a happy Tuesday....
Oh, that I had heard this song 44 years ago! Setting free and seeking a calling...and coming back.
God's way is one eternal round.
Saw them in Temple Square in SLC in rehearsal many years ago,wow what a blessing of the Lord to me to be able to see and hear a group of Gods people.
That's what we all need in life, a place to call home. Peace.
❤❤❤❤hugs
I recently lost my much loved mother, Florrie Engalee, she was 93 years old and loved life so much, she fought passing so hard. Since her passing I find it hard to go thru one day without crying, I miss her daily calls, her voice on the phone, I miss visiting her 2x a month to clean and shop for her. Now she has been amputated from my life. Stumbled upon this song, it touches my sad heart. Thru grief I will arise again, and get thru one day without sadness.
😢😢😢😢
Every single time that i hear that song, i have the purest feeling that i can feel in that day.
I always remember how much Our Heavenly Father loves us deeply. I always remember about the members of my family that i have on my tree and was made the temple work for them.
I always remember of my dear and sweet grandma that has passed away seven years ago.
I always remember how i want to experience the Heaven, living with my Savior, my wife and my family.
I really love the Spirit that i feel when i'm listening it.
I have never come across something as peaceful and so serene as this one..........
"This is the Christ" is another amazing one- if you haven't heard it before.
Sometimes it can be difficult...
Your Dad is home now. God bless his soul...
Happy and healing tears. Going home someday.
This remind me when my grandfather died and remind that we have limited time
This music and its message speak deeply to my soul. Nothing I can say can do justice this incredible arrangement and performance. I can close my eyes and feel the nearness of Jesus.
Thank You Father
Just lost my grandma this week. I've been listening to this ever since. It's so beautiful
I left my home for the first time in my life five years ago... I have not been home since.... Not because I don't want to, or I am unwelcome.... I just have not been able to make it back. This music brings such comfort to me. Thanks for uploading.
Home is always around the bend bud. I'm sure it will be a joyous occasion when you are finally able to return home. I hope it is soon for you.
Go home. Time to.

Thanks,Be blessed
Thanks they touch my heart
As I hear this song in the twilight of my earthy years, I think of going home to my Heavenly Father. My should longs to be homeward bound.
I have returned home to live and produce you tube releases about being a Mormon. I left in 1986 and held onto the iron rod through many challenges that has taken me closer to the tree of the love of God. Listening to Church music daily joins my birth home to the love of God
Tiopira Rauna You are one of the truly good ones, Tiopira. It would be an honor to know you. A fellow Mormon.
The excellence of this music is beyond words
A peaceful transition for all of us. From toil and trouble, from hurt and pain -- we will leave those things behind and we will awaken in a new place.
May I add to that sentiment my heartfelt gratitude to Mack Wilburg, who uses his God-given intelligence and musical talent to bring comfort and joy to a world that needs it.
I'm going through the darkest and sadest period of my life. This song always gives me hope that one day I will and can go back to Him and I've agreed in pre-mortal life to come as I've have and to experience this life. This song gives me strength that I need to go on.
Hold on tight and believe you will come out of this dark place much stronger than you have ever been. God Bless you,.
I can relate. I hope life offers you brighter and more beautiful things.
It can happen.
this is an old post, but I sure hope that you are okay now!
Beautiful song and beautiful voices!!!!
It reminds me to come home to my God where I can find peace and rest
Never underestimate the power of a flute or a good melody. Well done !
I Love you Grandpa. Thank you for showing us the way. We will be together forever. I miss you so much and this song brings peace to me. I know you're still continuing your mission and I will see you again. Papa Lor

Thanks for your words. It helps show the way.Charles
Impeccable, perfection!! This is a piece of heaven!
This is what you hear when you get to heaven
THANK YOU MTC! May God Bless you all for this MASTERPIECE of Christian Divinity! I'm Indebted!
In these times of uncertainty, it is so calming to listen to this kind of music.
The highest honour, to die on the battlefield next to my brothers. God bless America
Frankly that is an honour I think most people would forego.
😊 beautiful song and magnificent interpretation ❤ it fulls my heart with peace
I'm singing this for my upcoming concert in choir now and I'm in 8th grade
Laurel Inheritance I am singing this for eighth grade
I sang this song in fourth grade
I sung this song junior year to get into my school’s honor choir and it got me in, similar story to yours.
I'm Playing this in my band with the choir and orchestra for the 6th graders and then that night for the parents. I bet you anything there will be parents who will start crying
This song never fails to move me to tears. Simply beautiful. THANK YOU, MTC
we are preparing to sing this wonderful song in november to remember our ancestors on a family history event in El Salvador. This is a masterpiece that makes us feel the spirit
Thank-you for moving this heart of stone. May the Lord give his blessing to all...Amen and Amen
